has been operating in a high-temperature environment.

Installation:

  1. Ensure that the HV SBM_I open is de-energized before
    mounting.

  2. Follow the relevant installation instructions provided in the
    user guide.

  3. Securely fasten the module using suitable mounting materials
like screws, nuts, and cable ties.

Maintenance:

To maintain operational safety:

  • Perform an isolation test in accordance with EN 61010 at least
    once per year.

  • Always read and understand the documentation provided before
    initial operation.

  • Contact CSM GmbH for any further questions or
    clarifications.

FAQ:

Q: How often should the isolation test be performed?

A: The isolation test should be conducted at least once per year
in accordance with EN 61010.

Q: What should be done if the device heats up significantly

during operation?

A: Reduce or interrupt the current flow through the shunt to
prevent further temperature increase. Always monitor temperatures
to avoid exceeding threshold values.

Safety Instructions
HV Split Breakout Module (SBM_I open)

General safety instructions
Please observe the following safety instructions as well as the safety- specific information in the accompanying technical documentation.
WARNING!
HV Split Breakout Modules of type HV SBM_I open are used in high-voltage applications. Improper use may result in life-threatening electrical shocks. ) Only use qualified and trained personnel. ) Observe safety instructions.
WARNING!
Improper mounting involves the risk of life-threatening electric shocks. The following details have to be observed for high-voltage-safe mounting: ) Only use qualified and trained personnel. ) Make sure that the HV SBM_I open is de- energized before mounting it. ) Use suitable mounting material (screws, nuts, cable ties, etc.) to fasten the HV SBM_I open. ) Observe the relevant installation instructions in the user guide.
WARNING!
If the high-voltage power cables or busbars are not de-energized, there is a risk of accidentally touching non-insulated contacts at high-voltage potential. If the device is not de-energized, there is a risk of life- threatening electrical shocks! ) Fasten the high-voltage power cables with the appropriate mounting material. ) Only use qualified and trained personnel (observe local guidelines/regulations).
WARNING!
The connection cable between HV SBM_I open and HV Split Acquisition Module (HV SAM) is equipped with an HV connector on the measurement module side. If the HV connector is not plugged in, there is a risk of life-threatening electrical shocks! ) Make sure that the HV connector is properly covered with a protective cap when it is not
plugged in. ) Only use qualified and trained personnel (observe local guidelines/regulations).

Innovative Measurement and Data Technology

WARNING!
The internal temperature of the HV SBM_I open must not exceed +120 °C. As soon as the temperature of the shunt exceeds this value, the HV SAM measurement module sends the error code “0x8001” instead of the measured values for U and I. The user usually does not see this error code but the error message “THERMAL_OVERLOAD” that has been generated from the DBC or A2L file. This data is sent until the temperature of the shunt drops below +115 °C again.
Exceeding the specified temperature impairs the operational safety of the HV SBM_I open. There are risks including life-threatening electrical shocks and fire hazards. ) Reduce or interrupt the current flow through the shunt to prevent a further temperature
increase. ) Always monitor the temperatures in order to make sure that the threshold value will not be
exceeded. ) Only use qualified and trained personnel.
CAUTION!
The HV SBM_I open can heat up considerably if it is operated in a specific working environment (e.g. engine compartment). The shunt can also heat up considerably during operation under high load.
Touching the surface of the shunt may cause serious burns. ) Let the HV SBM_I open cool down before handling. ) Wear appropriate safety gloves.
f Only use qualified and trained personnel for handling HV Split Breakout Modules.
f Make sure that HV Split Breakout Modules are only operated within an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +120 °C and at a relative humidity of max. 95 % (non-condensing).
f To ensure operational safety, an isolation test in accordance with the latest edition of EN 61010 has to be performed at least once per year.
f The entire documentation that has been delivered with the HV Split Breakout Modules has to be read thoroughly before initial operation. The operating personnel has to be instructed accordingly. Please contact CSM GmbH with any further questions.
