Warnings
REMARK! KEEP THE APPLIANCE AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS! Place the shredder in an area that is less accessible to children.
DO NOT PLACE YOUR FINGERS TOO CLOSE TO THE FEED SLOT, AS THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.
AVOID LOOSE CLOTHING OR JEWELRY NEAR THE FEEDER SLOT
AVOID BRINGING HAIR CLOSE TO THE FEED SLOT.
NEVER spray any aerosol products directly on or near the shredder.
NEVER dispose of flammable chemicals or materials that have been in contact with flammable chemicals (e.g., nail polish, acetone, gasoline) in the waste bin.
NEVER use any petroleum-based or flammable oils or greases in or near the appliance, as some oils may ignite, causing serious injury. Only lubricants specifically designed for shredder maintenance are acceptable.
NEVER place the shredder near water or heat sources. Direct contact with water should be avoided.
DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SHREDDER IF:
- The paper jamming of the shredder blades has occurred.
- The shredder motor makes a loud and/or erratic noise during operation.
- The shredder blades or paper guides are bent or damaged in any way. Continued use of the shredder in any of the above cases may be potentially dangerous.
Using the shredder
Instructions for use:
- Install the top housing with the shredder onto the waste bin.
- Plug the power cord into any standard 120V AC outlet.
- Slide the switch to the power position.
- Insert paper into the slot to activate the shredder blades.
Installation Warnings:
- The shredders have very sharp, exposed cutting blades on the underside of the top housing. Care must be taken when assembling the enclosure with the basket.
- Make sure that the power cord is not damaged in any way and that the electrical outlet is working properly.
- It is normal for grease residues in the engine to burn out during the first few uses. If you notice a slight burning smell or a slight smoke, you can continue to use the appliance. However, if any of these symptoms persist after using it a few times, you should contact support for assistance.
Helpful Tips for Users
Clearing jams
If paper is not properly loaded in the shredder, or if the capacity of the sheets is exceeded, a paper jam may occur. In this case, turn the switch to the REVERSE position, then remove the excess paper from the top and pull it out from the top. TO PREVENT INJURY, DO NOT PLACE YOUR HAND NEAR THE FEED OPENING. Once the paper has been removed, the shredder can resume normal operation. If the jam is not cleared, move the switch back and forth between the REVERSE and AUTO positions until the jam is cleared. If the jam cannot be cleared, unplug the machine and carefully remove the jammed paper by hand.
Overheating
If the unit overheats, the unit will automatically shut down to protect the motor and all functions will stop working. In this case, turn off the shredder and unplug it from the socket.
Before restarting, it is necessary to wait for the engine to cool down.
The shredder will not resume operation until the motor temperature has dropped to a safe level.
Once the machine has cooled down, you can plug the shredder back in, turn it on, and resume operation. Empty the waste bin to avoid filling the bin and to prevent the danger of damage to the cutting mechanism.
Emptying the trash
Before cleaning, moving, or emptying the disposed of basket, always switch off the shredder and unplug the power cord from the mains socket. The container should be emptied on a regular basis so as not to impede the operation of the shredder. Do not allow the bin to fill up. This can pull the shredded material back towards the blades and cause a jam.
Staples & Paper Clips
The shredder safely shreds standard staples and small paper clips. Industrial staples or large staples, large and/or butterfly paper clips, and binder clips should NEVER be shredded in the appliance. Before shredding, they must be removed from the documents.
Shredder Maintenance
Regular lubrication of the blades
– Only use lubricants specifically designed for shredders, such as shredder
oil.
– NEVER use spray lubricants.
– Follow the instructions on the shredder lubricant packaging.
– Do not touch the cutting surface.
