Hipac Stainless Steel Surround Instruction

Installation Instructions

Parts:

• (1x) Stainless steel surround (2 pieces)
• (1x) Intumescent Kit (12 pieces)
• (1x) Screw set (8 or 10 pieces)
• (1x) fixing template

Surround Preparation

•  Open packaging and locate the intumescent kit.
• Lay surrounds face down on a soft, clean surface.
• Open intumescent kit and remove the (8x) 10mm x 2mm grey intumescent lengths.
• Clean the surface of the surround with a degreaser, remove the adhesive backing from the grey intumescent and apply round the inner face of each surround. When applying the first strip, make intumescent flush with inner face, this should mean there is a 10mm overlap at the other end (Fig. 1.). This should allow for the next intumescent to butt up against it (Fig. 2.). When all 4 are applied to each piece, a continuous line of intumescent rounds the entire inner face of the surround should be seen.
• This needs replicating on the other half of the surround.

Panel Preparation

• Remove the remaining 4x white intumescent from the intumescent pack.
• Apply this to the perimeter of the panel. (Fig. 3.)

Door Preparation

• Locate the fitting template.
• Tape this to the door in the specified location ensuring it is square with the door.
• Centre punch the centre of each fixing hole and the corners of the square
• Either leave the template in place and work to it, or remove the template, and use the centre punches to mark what is needed and work from there. (See Fig.4 and Fig. 5 for details)

Assembly

•  Test the vision panel operation, with the panel stood as it would be in a door, before fitment to ensure the panel is in working order prior to fitment.
• Place the panel into the door (Fig. 6.) on the customer specified orientation (which operator is to the corridor). Support the panel from both sides of the door before surround is fitted.
• Fit half of the surround with the welded lugs onto the patient side of the door.
• Place the other half of the surround with the fixing holes on the other side of the corridor side.
• Insert one M5 screw through a top centre fitting and thread loosely into place (Fig. 8.). If this is tightened fully, assembly may become difficult.
• Insert the bottom centre fixing screw loosely.
• Now all other screws can be inserted and fitted loosely.
• Once all fixings are threaded in place, they can all be tightened up (Fig. 9.) Using a hand driver. Do not use an electric driver. Do not over tighten the fixings. Check operation once tight, if the panel jams, the screws have either been overtightened or the surround is incorrect for the panel and or door thickness configuration. • The panel should be held in place with no gap between the panel and the surround or the door and the surround.
