Installation
The PERFECT PITCH PP1 is designed for Eurorack systems. Follow these steps for correct installation:
- Ensure your Eurorack system is powered off.
- Insert the module into an available slot in your rack.
- Connect the power cables, ensuring correct polarity (+12V to +12V, -12V to -12V).
- Power on your Eurorack system and verify that the module is receiving power.
Controls
- The PERFECT PITCH PP1 module features various controls numbered from 1 to 13. Familiarize yourself with each control’s function to optimize performance.
Usage Tips
- Avoid blocking ventilation openings and keep the module away from heat sources to prevent overheating.
FAQ
- Q: What should I do if the module is not receiving power?
- A: Double-check the power connections and ensure proper polarity. If the issue persists, consult the manufacturer’s support for assistance.
- Q: Can I use the PERFECT PITCH PP1 with non-Eurorack systems?
- A: The PERFECT PITCH PP1 is specifically designed for Eurorack systems and may not be compatible with other systems without appropriate adapters or converters.

PERFECT PITCH PP1 Controls
The PERFECT PITCH PP1 is a 10 hp Eurorack module, consuming 70 mA on the +12 V rail and 50 mA on the -12 V rail. Please refer to the Eurorack installation guide below for the correct installation in your rack.
Controls
-
USB SOCKET – the USB socket can be used both to output USB MIDI derived from the audio input and for firmware updates.
It will also accept MIDI input and convert it to CV/Gate output. -
MIDI OUT SOCKET – outputs MIDI messages derived from the audio input.
-
HI-Z SWITCH – use this switch in the ON position when using a high-impedance input, such as a guitar or bass.
-
LOW CUT SWITCH – use this switch to cut frequencies below 75 Hz on the input signal, with a slope of 18 dB.
-
BEND SWITCH – the bend switch has three positions, which affect how the PERFECT PITCH PP1 tracks the input signal:
- Off – the CV and MIDI outputs will always be quantized to the nearest semitone.
- 1 – the CV output will allow a pitch bend of up to one semitone, and the MIDI outputs will send MIDI pitch bend messages as well as a note on/off. If the note is bent through more than one semitone then a new MIDI note on a message based on the new note will be sent, and a new gate output on the GATE socket.
- 2 – as with mode 1 but allowing a two semitone bend.
-
GAIN – use this knob to adjust the input gain for optimal tracking, in conjunction with the level meter (7).
-
LEVEL METER – use this meter with the gain control (6) to obtain the optimal level of the input signal. When using BEND modes 1 or two the meter acts as a tuner: When all LEDs are unlit then the input is in tune. The Red LED at the top of the meter still lights if the signal is distorted from too high a gain level.
-
GATE CONTROL – use this control to obtain a suitable gate output from the input signal.
-
LINE OUT – outputs a line-level signal derived from the audio input, for further processing if required.
-
CV OUT – outputs a 1 V/Octave control voltage derived from the audio input which can be used to control suitable 1 V/octave modules such as VCOs.
-
GATE OUT – outputs a V-trigger gate at +5 V suitable for triggering Eurorack modules such as Envelope Generators.
Use the GATE control (8) for best results. -
AUDIO INPUT – combined XLR and 6.35 mm jack socket which will accept low-impedance microphone signals, or high-impedance instrument signals when the HI-Z switch (3) is ON.
-
DRY THRU – outputs an unprocessed audio signal at the same level and impedance as the input signal.
Hints and Tips
- The PERFECT PITCH PP1 is a monophonic tracker, so playing chords will give you uneven results.
- Play cleanly and precisely.
- Consider compressing your instrument to ensure consistency of level.
- Set the GAIN control carefully: too little and tracking could be impaired, too much and your signal might distort. The Level Meter with BEND switched off will help.
- If you want to use effects on your instrument add them after tracking using the DRY THRU output.
- Take care in setting the GATE control so that unwanted artifacts such as finger movement or noise on the microphone do not result in unwanted gates being produced.
Power Connection
- Connect end P1 to the module socket
- Connect end P2 to the power supply
The module comes with the required power cable for connecting to a standard Eurorack power supply system. Follow these steps to connect power to the module. It is easier to make these connections before the module has been mounted into a rack case.
- Turn the power supply or rack case power off and disconnect the power cable.
- Insert the 16-pin connector on the power cable into the socket on the power supply or rack case. The connector has a tab that will align with the gap in the socket, so it cannot be inserted incorrectly. If the power supply does not have a keyed socket, be sure to orient pin 1 (-12 V) with the red stripe on the cable.
- Insert the 10-pin connector into the socket on the back of the module. The connector has a tab that will align with the socket for correct orientation.
- After both ends of the power cable have been securely attached, you may mount the module in a case and turn on the power supply.
Installation
- The necessary screws are included with the module for mounting in a Eurorack case.
- Connect the power cable before mounting.
- Depending on the rack case, there may be a series of fixed holes spaced 2 HP apart along the length of the case, or a track that allows individual threaded plates to slide along the length of the case. The free-moving threaded plates allow precise positioning of the module, but each plate should be positioned in approximate relation to the mounting holes in your module before attaching the screws.
- Hold the module against the Eurorack rails so that each of the mounting holes are aligned with a threaded rail or threaded plate. Attach the screws part way to start, which will allow small adjustments to the positioning while you get them all aligned. After the final position has been established, tighten the screws down.
