CELLULAR TRACKING Blu Series Transmitter

Theory of Operation

Your BlūSeries Transmitter is a digital radio transmitter that features a unique identifier. No two tags will ever have the same identifier, allowing multiple projects and species to be tracked simultaneously, worldwide, without overlap in transmitter codes.

Your BlūSeries Transmitter can also be received by a growing distributed network of autonomous sensors collecting data from all wildlife transmitters, around the world! Your BlūSeries Transmitter is designed to be received by a variety of methods:

CTT Internet of Wildlife devices:

  • CTT SensorStation base station with BlūSeries Receiver
  • CTT Sidekick portable receiver products
  • The forthcoming (Q4 2024) Terra, a direct-to-consumer citizen science product. And a global collaborative scientific platform:
  • The Motus Wildlife Tracking System (hereafter Motus Network), operated by Birds Canada
  • When your PowerTag signal is received on a CTT Internet of Wildlife device, or via the Motus Network, the exact date, time, unique identifier, and signal strength will be recorded. To learn more about our products, and future products, visit:

Attachment

BlūSeries Transmitters are deployment-ready as glue-on tags, or can be mounted to a variety of DIY harness or other mounting solutions you can think of. If you would like to discuss options for attachment, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Wildlife Application Specialists at Cellular Tracking Technologies via
support@celltracktech.com.

While attachments can vary, some key points to remember are:

Never trim the antenna, as its length is both dependent on top performance as well as FCC certification of the device.

When possible, keep the body of the animal away from the antenna, as this will affect the range and efficiency of the antenna.

Range will vary depending on the height of the animal. For example, a bird or butterfly in flight will have much further line-ofsight than an animal crawling on the ground.

Water dwelling animals will need to have the antenna above the surface of the water in order to operate most effectively.
