GENERAL

Buttons and connections
Button functions
- Press for a long to turn the device on or off. When the device is on, it will open or close the device’s menu.
- While the Screen saver is on, pressing the button will open the main screen.
- During operation, the up and down arrow buttons are for volume control.
- While the device is on the settings menu, the up and the down arrow can be used for selection.
- Press for 3 seconds to activate or cancel an emergency call.
- During the operation, pressing the left or right arrow will change the PTT1 group. Pressing the left or right arrow for 3 seconds will change the PTT2 group.
- While the device is on the settings menu, the left and right arrows can be used for selection.

Charging the battery
NOTE! Recommended wall charger rating: 2A.
Inserting the SIM-card
- Turn off the device. Open the battery cover with the provided screwdriver and remove the device’s battery.
- Slide the SIM card holder downward, lift the holder into an upright position, and slide the SIM card into the holder.
- Make sure the SIM card’s gold contacts face into the device and the angled corner of the card is positioned correctly (as shown in the picture on the left). Set back down the SIM card holder and slide it upwards to secure it (the SIM card should be lying flat on the device).
- Make sure the inside of the device is clear of any dust and dirt, especially the grey area shown, to ensure the watertightness of the device.
- Insert the battery back into the device so that the battery contacts align and the battery label faces into the device. Then slide the battery cover back into place and screw it shut. Do not over-tighten.
NOTE 1! You will need a nano-SIM card.
NOTE 2! The screwdriver head size is TX6.
Power ON/OFF
Turn it on by pressing the Power button until the green LED turns off. Turn it
off by first pressing the Power button until “Shutdown?” appears on the
screen, and then press the right arrow button to confirm the shutdown process.
You can also shut- down the device through the main menu.
NOTE! Pressing the Power button for longer than 7 seconds will restart
the device. This should only be used if the device is unresponsive.
We recommend getting a nano SIM card that has the PIN lock feature deactivated. If it is activated, you will need to insert your PIN when turning on the device by scrolling through the numbers using the up and down arrow buttons, and confirming by pressing the right arrow button. Once you have inserted your complete PIN, press the right arrow button for 3 seconds to confirm.
DEVICE FEATURE AND FUNCTIONS
Home screen
From your Kepler’s home screen, you can see and do several things.

Device status
At the top, the icons indicate the status of your device (battery, connectivity, etc.) Go back to page 4 to learn more about what each icon means. -
Push-to-Talk and communicating with talk groups
From the middle of the home screen, you can see what talk group will be contacted if you press the PTT1 or PTT2 button. These talk groups are created and managed through the PTT application being used. Push-to-Talk. Press the PTT1 or PTT2 button and keep it pressed to contact the corresponding talk group. Release the button when you are done talking. The Kepler’s display will indicate when you are talking or receiving a message from a talk group. Changing talk group. If you are part of more than one talk group, you can scroll through the available groups by pressing the left or right arrow button on your device. A quick press will change the PTT1 group and a long press (~3 seconds) will change the PTT2 group. -
Emergency
With Kepler, you can also initiate emergency calls if you are in an emergency or distress situation. -
Volume control
Press the up or down arrow button to control the device’s volume. The Kepler’s display will indicate at which volume level you are.
Settings
By pressing the power on/off button on the device, you can access or exit the
device’s settings menu.
- Use the up and down arrow buttons to scroll through settings categories on the device’s display.
- Press the right arrow button to select or confirm a setting and the left arrow button to go back.
Tips and Safety
Microphone performance tip
For best results, hold the device 15-20cm from your mouth when speaking.
Safety
- Do not put the device near your ear, SPL > 100.
- Avoid contact with magnetic stripe cards.
- Charging temperature: 0°C – + 45°C.
- Operation temperature: -10°C – + 60°C.
