Hello Health Hero!
- I will try to simplify as much as possible of what I have learned over the last 13 years being an avid supplement taker as well as the owner of Chemical Free Body which manufactures and sells detox & nutrition supplementation.
- What I have learned along the way has been shocking, to say the least as far as the poor quality of the vast majority of supplements currently on the market.
- At the beginning of my health journey in 2011, I was adamantly against taking supplements as I wanted to heal myself with natural whole foods due to my newfound belief that I am nature and nature heals.
As my transformation and my health education progressed I realized a couple of things:
-
Roughly 85% of the nutrition in the soil is gone from over-farming and dumping chemicals on the soil.
There are tons of chemicals in our environment and they are bio-accumulated in our fat and muscle tissues including the brain and organs. -
This is when I realized that if I was going to be optimal in a deficient, polluted world supplementation was a necessity.
-
Our bodies can use a helping hand to start removing all the toxic chemicals that have and will continue to accumulate in our bodies from the air, water, food, clothing, and personal care products we come into contact with.
-
This is where the proper detox supplements can help greatly to remove these toxic invaders that are destroying our health.
-
Our bodies also need to be flooded with concentrated nutrients daily so our cells have the necessary building blocks and fuel for us to feel and look our best.
-
These vital nutrients are simply not in the soil so we must supplement to replace what is missing!
-
With my newfound awareness of supplementation, I dug in to find the best quality products for myself and my coaching students.
-
After a few months of searching I had found what I thought was “The Best” and shared them with my students… all was good… until… one of the products I was taking added a new ingredient called Xanthan Gum (without calling me and letting me know!).
-
I looked it up and found out that it was used as an emulsifier so that when you made the protein shake you didn’t have to shake it again because the xanthan gum would keep the consistency even by not allowing the ingredients to settle.
-
Well, that sounds good because god forbid you have to shake it, that would be too much effort!
-
Well, as long as it’s not bad for me I am O.K. with it but…
-
Xanthan gum is made in most cases from genetically modified corn fermented in bacteria and when you consume it, it eats your intestinal lining! WTF!!!
-
I had to call all of my students and warn them about how this great health product just become dangerous and how important it was to read the label every time.
-
Then I met Dr. Scott Treadway who would end up being one of my mentors, my brother, a father figure, and the main formulator for the Chemical Free Body product line.
-
Dr. Treadway had been trained as a master herbalist in Indian, Chinese, and Western Herbology.
-
He had his practice seeing patients on the daily for 10 years then decided that he could help more people if he could get his formulas out to the masses.
-
For the last 41 years, he has been a consultant to roughly 18 of the top supplement brands in the world.
-
Unfortunately, he told me that I was the only one out of all of them who would make the formula as he designed it. All the rest of them would cheapen the ingredients and in most cases add in toxic stuff all for profitability inside of the warped regulations.
Today things have gotten even worse
- Dr. Treadway informed me that many of the “trusted” 100% organic and even raw brands are now using synthetic chemicals and have found a way legally to put them in the formulas that we consume.
- To me this is B.S. and that is why I am so fired up to educate people on what I have learned so that they don’t make the same mistakes I was making in the beginning before I acquired this knowledge.
- In this guide, I will cover the main areas you should know when choosing a supplement.
- Armed with this information you will be able to choose the best quality products for you and your family while voting with your dollars and supporting companies like mine that will not compromise profits over people.
- Myself and my team look forward to building a long-term relationship with you based on trust and results!
- Happy Supplementing!
- Tim James AKA Health Hero
ONLY CONSUME CARBON-BASED SUPPLEMENTS
- Around 92% of all supplements on the market today are 100% synthetic acid-based chemicals… let that sink in for a moment.
- What you and your trillions of cells need is 100% carbon-based ingredients made from herbs and food grown in good soils without chemicals genetic modification or gene editing.
- Statistically, the consumer is screwed when trying to find truly pure products in this arena.
- Finding my company is literally like finding a needle in a haystack and we are so glad you did!
- Not only will you get 100% naturally occurring carbon-based products from us, but I aim to teach you what I have learned on my healing journey so that you can get results faster!

WATCH OUT FOR BLENDED SUPPLEMENTS
WATCH OUT FOR BLENDED SUPPLEMENTS THAT ARE CARBON-BASED AND ACID-BASED SYNTHETICS
- Of the roughly 8% of supplements on the market that are food-based, a large majority of those also include synthetic acid-based chemical substances.
- One of the easiest ways to demonstrate this is with a common multivitamin. Typically Vitamin C will be included in multivitamins.
- If the label reads : Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) you have just consumed a synthetic chemical.
- If the vitamin C was food-based it would read Vitamin C (Amla Berry) or Vitamin C (Rose Hips) or Vitamin C (Camu Camu Berry) or Vitamin C (Acerola Cherry).
- It should spell out the food or herb that the vitamin was based on right behind the named vitamin.
ALL RAW MATERIALS SHOULD
ALL RAW MATERIALS SHOULD BE AIR-DRIED OR SUN-DRIED ROUGHLY UNDER 110 DEGREES TO NOT DESTROY ENZYMES (LIFE FORCE)
- Enzymes are the carriers of electrons that charge our cells and help to prevent free radical damage which is the causative factor of all diseases and premature aging.
- These electrons also give us energy as they charge up our cells. Think of them like a battery charger that charges up our “Body Battery” so that we can operate during the day at a higher frequency.
- If the raw materials were heated by processing we lose much of the electron life force that our bodies require to function at their best.
- This is why I am a huge proponent of eating sprouts and taking supplements like we produce at Chemical Free Body because the life force is still intact.
- Remember, we are living “light” beings. The biophoton light from the sun is captured on the leaf of a plant and through our skin. The more food we eat that has this electron charge the higher the frequency of our cells.
- Bottom line if you’re going to invest any of your money into supplementation make sure the products are not “dead”, make sure they are “alive” so you can receive the highest level of nutrition… electrons!
OTHER INGREDIENTS ARE INGREDIENTS TOO
- This is typically a section on supplement labels that not many people pay attention to but is vitally important. The downside is that there are so many toxic “other ingredients” that it can be daunting trying to figure it out.
- To make it as easy for you as possible I have listed the four main categories you will see in this section on a supplement label and provided a list of the main bad characters to avoid when purchasing a supplement. Here they are.
The other ingredients to watch out for are:
-
Chemical Flavoring: The use of these synthetic flavorings allows manufacturers to produce supplements that are consistent in taste and appeal to a broad consumer base which boosts sales but not our health.
- Some common toxic chemical flavors used in supplements include:
- Artificial Vanilla (Vanillin): Synthetically produced to replicate the flavor of natural vanilla, often used in protein powders and meal replacement shakes.
- Artificial Fruit Flavors: Such as citrus (lemon, lime), berry (strawberry, raspberry), and tropical fruits (mango, pineapple), are created using chemical compounds like esters, aldehydes, and ketones.
- Ethyl Maltol: A compound that imparts a sweet, caramel-like flavor, often used to enhance the sweetness and palatability of fitness and dietary supplements.
- Aspartame: A low-calorie artificial sweetener that is used in many diet and sugar-free supplements. It’s known for its sweetness, which is about 200 times stronger than sucrose (table sugar).
- Sucralose: Another artificial sweetener used in supplements, known for being sweeter than aspartame and having no calories. It’s made by modifying sucrose.
- Acesulfame Potassium (Ace K): A calorie-free sweetener used in conjunction with other sweeteners to mask bitter tastes and improve flavor longevity in supplements.
- Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): Used in savory supplements to enhance flavor, although less common in supplements than in food products.
- Artificial Chocolate Flavor: Made from various chemicals including theobromine, which is naturally found in cocoa beans, to replicate chocolate taste in supplements.
- Menthol: Provides a cooling effect and is often used in weight loss supplements and pre-workout formulas for a refreshing taste.
-
Harmful Preservatives: Common preservatives used in supplements are crucial for extending shelf life (profits), maintaining product stability, and preventing microbial growth. Some toxic common preservatives used in supplements include:
- Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Used to protect supplements from oxidation and degradation.
- Alpha-Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Used in oil-based supplements like vitamin E capsules and fish oil products to prevent oxidation and rancidity.
- Sodium Benzoate: Effective against yeast and bacteria, sodium benzoate is often used in liquid supplements, such as vitamin syrups and herbal extracts.
- Potassium Sorbate : Used to inhibit molds and yeasts in a variety of supplements, especially in those that are liquid or semi-liquid.
- Calcium Propionate: Used to prevent mold and bacterial growth, it’s commonly found in powdered products like protein powders and meal replacements.
- Sorbic Acid: Similar to potassium sorbate, sorbic acid is used to prevent spoilage from fungi, molds, and yeast in both solid and liquid supplements.
- BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) and BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene) are synthetic antioxidants used to prevent fats in supplements from going rancid. They are often found in oil-based supplements and those containing omega fatty acids.
- Ethyl Alcohol : Used in tincture and liquid extract formulations, ethyl alcohol acts as both a solvent and a preservative.
- Methylparaben and Propylparaben: These parabens are used in very small amounts as preservatives in some supplements to prevent microbial growth, although their use has become controversial due to potential health concerns.
-
Harmful Emulsifiers: Emulsifiers are ingredients used in supplements to improve texture, stability, and mixability, especially in products that contain both water-soluble and oil-soluble ingredients.
- They help in forming and maintaining a consistent mixture, preventing separation, and improving the absorption of nutrients. Some toxic common emulsifiers used in supplements include.
- Lecithin: Extracted from soybeans, sunflower, or eggs, lecithin is a popular natural emulsifier in various supplements, including protein powders and vitamin complexes, facilitating the blending of ingredients.
- Xanthan Gum: A polysaccharide produced by bacterial fermentation, used to thicken and stabilize emulsions in supplements like protein shakes and meal replacements that erode intestinal lining.
- Gellan Gum: A food additive typically used to thicken and stabilize emulsions in supplements like protein shakes and meal replacements that erode intestinal lining.
- Polysorbate 80: A synthetic compound used in some formulations to dissolve vitamins and minerals and enhance their bioavailability. It’s particularly useful in liquid supplements.
- Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids: Often derived from vegetable oils, these are used to combine ingredients that are normally immiscible, commonly found in powdered and liquid supplements.
- Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate (SSL): An emulsifier used in baked supplements, like nutrition bars, to integrate ingredients and extend shelf life.
- Glycerol Monostearate (GMS): Used in sports and nutrition supplements, GMS acts as an emulsifier and a consistency enhancer, especially in protein powders and energy bars.
- Carrageenan : Extracted from red seaweed, carrageenan is used in vegan and vegetarian supplements as a gelling agent and emulsifier, especially in liquid products.
- Sorbitan Monostearate: This emulsifier is used in yeast supplements and various nutrient oils to stabilize and increase solubility.
-
Harmful Excipients: Excipients in supplements are inactive substances used as carriers, fillers, binders, flow agents, coatings, or for other technological purposes during the manufacturing process.
-
They speed up the encapsulation process with “flow agents” by not allowing the raw materials to “gum up” their machines. Since synthetic chemicals don’t take up a lot of room in a pill they use “fillers” to make the capsules look full.
-
From the “Naturally Occurring” point of view, as established by the NOSG, the following Food Supplement Excipients may be harmful to your health.
-
Magnesium Stearate: Magnesium Stearate is used by food supplement manufacturers as a flow agent for filling capsules and as a binder and lubricant agent for producing tablets. It is very convenient for them but can be harmful to your health.
-
Magnesium Stearate is made of the mineral magnesium combined with Stearic Acid.
-
The Stearic Acid in Magnesium Stearate may be derived from bovine bone marrow, “tallow” or may come from a vegetable source like soy oil or cottonseed oil that may or may not be contaminated with GMOs or pesticides.
-
Stearic acid is predominantly used in the production of various rubber products.
-
Stearic acid is made by “hydrolyzing” the oil base, which could be cottonseed oil, soy oil, canola oil, or others by adding more hydrogen atoms. This is a man-made, unnatural, and artificial process of producing a Stearic acid which is similar to the way that margarine (a butter substitute) is produced. The process may include hydrogenation where the oil is poured over an electrified surface until it coagulates into a highly saturated fat.
-
The problem with Magnesium Stearate is not so much related to the magnesium part, which is normally an inorganic mineral source which could be problematic for some, but the main problem is the Steric acid part which is normally sourced from synthetically manipulated animal or vegetable fats. Stearic acid can be grouped along with other trans fatty acids, like hydrolyzed soy oil margarine, and could present harmful health effects such as.
-
Increased risk of coronary heart disease;
-
Increased levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) and lowered levels of HDL (good cholesterol);
-
Decreased fertility;
-
Decreased immune response, Increased blood insulin levels, and greater risk for diabetes: and, digestive issues related to coating of the intestines and preventing bioavailability of food nutrients.
-
Magnesium Stearate is not a food and was not created as a food, but rather something that would “pass” as a food additive that could be used for the convenience of food supplement manufacturers to make capsules and tablets and not for the health of the consumer.
-
Silicon Dioxide: Silicon Dioxide is NOT a food, but rather it is a food additive made synthetically and is used by food supplement manufacturers as a convenient “Flow” agent and an anti-caking agent in the manufacture of processed foods and capsule and tablet products. This convenience is not for you, but rather for the manufacturer of the food or food supplement.
-
Silicon dioxide is used widely as an insulator in electrical equipment. As a non-food, adding silicon dioxide to the body may interfere with the normal electrical functioning of the body.
-
Silicon dioxide, as used in food supplements, is typically manufactured by vapor phase hydrolysis. This is a synthetic process, and the silicon does not maintain its natural crystalline structure as is found in nature such as natural deposits of silicon found in the earth.
-
There are possible side effects of ingesting synthesized silicon dioxide.
-
Some of the possible side effects related to consuming silicon dioxide are kidney stones. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, women should avoid silicon dioxide.
-
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, silicon falls into Toxicity Category III, which is the second lowest degree on the toxicity rating scale.
-
According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), silicon dioxide has also been observed negatively targeting the immune system and the renal system.
-
One 1978 study conducted by Czech researchers found evidence of damage to the urinary systems of mice after they were injected with silicon dioxide. A more recent study in 2012 noted a positive association between silicon dioxide exposure and chronic kidney disease.
Dicalcium Phosphate: Dicalcium Phosphate is NOT a food, but rather it is a food additive made synthetically and is used by food processors and food supplement manufacturers to help disintegrate food ingredients. -
Dicalcium phosphate is known to cause kidney stones in cats and may pose harm to human kidneys.
-
According to the evidence gathered by the National Library of Medication, National Institutes of Health, and Pharmacy Health, ingestion of dicalcium phosphate could increase the severity of symptoms in people who are experiencing problems with diarrhea, parathyroid disease, lung disease, kidney stones or other stomach-related problems.
-
The human body is a perfect machine that grows, develops, repairs, replaces, and reproduces. Naturally occurring, pure food provides the energy and essential nutrients needed for all of these processes.
-
The higher the quality of the food you eat, the better the results are for your health.
-
Thousands of years of evolution have shown us what is healthy; decades of genetic modification, manufacturing, and processing of products with excipients are showing us what is not.
-
For most of this planet’s life, there have been no chemicals, GMOs, or gene editing and all food was clean and full of nutrients from the rich soil, clean water, and sunshine.
-
In today’s polluted world full of commercial chemicals and chemical farming arose the “Organic” movement to hopefully save us.
-
Well, it was good for a while but bottom line, organic is now the best of the worst.
-
The label has been compromised and now they allow toxic chemicals in so-called “organic” farming and organic supplements.
-
Also, they do not check the water inputs, they allow till farming which kills necessary and beneficial soil microorganisms.
-
Larger corporations are purchasing the smaller “High Quality” supplement brands and then they can do whatever they want.
-
Anytime you want to check to see if a company has been bought out just type in to your browser: “Who purchased… (Then add the name of the company and hit search).
-
The bottom line, we are at a point in history where we need to get our heirloom seeds and grow our food or get our food from farmers who are educated on this topic and won’t compromise.

CONCLUSION
- I put this guide together as an extensive resource aimed at educating individuals on the potential dangers lurking in the supplement industry and guiding them toward making safer, more informed choices.
- Drawing from my health journey and expertise as the owner of a supplement company, I shared alarming insights into the widespread use of harmful synthetic chemicals and practices in the production of supplements, which, unbeknownst to many consumers, can undermine health rather than support it.
- I emphasize the critical need for supplements in today’s nutrient-depleted, chemically-saturated world but argue that not all supplements are created equal.
- I advocate for the exclusive use of carbon-based supplements, derived from herbs and foods grown in uncontaminated soils, as opposed to the majority of market offerings, which are synthetic and potentially hazardous.
- Through this guide, my goal is to arm consumers (You!) with the knowledge needed to navigate the complex supplement market, advocating for health over profit and encouraging support for companies committed to purity and integrity.
- This mission reflects a broader call to action for individuals to take charge of their health by making informed, conscious choices about the supplements they choose to incorporate into their daily lives.
- Thank you for investing your time into this guide and I hope you use it and refer back to it anytime you are considering a new supplement.
