Why the product is recalled: The voltage regulator in affected Kawasaki general-purpose engines, installed in Hustler lawnmowers can malfunction. The affected mowers can catch fire at any time, even if the engine is off or not in use. Hazard: There is risk of fire, serious injury or death and/or damage to property if the voltage regulator malfunctions in affected Kawasaki general-purpose engines.
Consumers should:
- Stop using their affected mower until it has been repaired.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and secure it away from the negative battery post. If you are unsure on how to disconnect the battery, please contact your local Hustler dealer.
- Contact MTD Products to register for a repair.
Repairs are expected to commence from mid-March 2024 when replacement voltage regulators become available.
