Properly storing foods in the fridge or freezer with the correct temperature settings can help prevent foods from spoiling easily and thus help prevent food waste. For example, for peeled or cut veggies, storing them in the fridge (fresh food area) for 2 to 3 days instead of leaving then out at room temperature can retain their freshness and keep them from going bad. Meats and seafoods can be stored in the freezer (-18°C) for months without going bad.

WARNING

  • Keep ventilation openings in the unit enclosure or in the built-in structure clear of obstructions.
  • Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the unit, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not damage the refrigerant circuit (The refrigerant is a very environmentally friendly gas but is also combustible. Take care when transporting or moving the unit to ensure that the refrigeration circuit is not damaged. In the event of damage avoid naked flames or ignition sources and ventilate the room in which the unit is placed for a few minutes.)
  • When positioning the appliance, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.
  • Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance.
  • Do not use a mains plug adapter, external timer or extension cable. It may overheat and cause a fire.
  • Although every care has been taken to ensure this appliance has no burrs or sharp edges, we recommend that you wear protective gloves when unpacking, installing and moving this appliance. This will prevent any injury.

INSTALLATION

Location
When selecting a position for your unit you should make sure the floor is flat and firm, and the room is well ventilated with an average room temperature of between 10°C and 43°C. Avoid locating your unit near a heat source, e.g. cooker, boiler or radiator. Also avoid direct sunlight as it may increase the electrical consumption. Extreme cold ambient temperatures may also cause the unit not to perform properly. This unit is not designed for use in a garage or outdoor installation. Do not drape the unit with any covering. This refrigerating appliance is not intended to be used as a built-in appliance.

Levelling the Unit
To do this adjust the two levelling feet at the front of the unit. If the unit is not level, the doors and magnetic seal alignments will not be covered properly.

Free Space Requirements
When installing the unit, ensure that 25 mm of free space is left at both sides, 50 mm at the rear of the unit and 25 mm at the top of the unit. The door can be opened to the right or the left, depending on which best suits the location.

Please ensure there is more than twice the width and depth distance space of the unit to fully open the door to a maximum angle.

Installing the Door Handle
Remove the screw hole plugs. Place the door handle in place and screw tightly. Cover the screw holes with the door handle screw covers. Button the buckle between the handle and cover, then snap to close the cover from the inside until a ‘pop’ sound is heard. This is an easy-to-open door handle. No hard pull is required, instead just twist the handle gently and the door can be pulled open easily.

Reversing the Door Swing
Tools required: Philips style screwdriver / Flat bladed screwdriver / Hexagonal spanner

  • Ensure the unit is unplugged and empty.
  • To take the door off it is necessary to tilt the unit backwards. You should rest the unit on something solid, e.g. a chair just below the top panel.
  • All parts removed must be saved to do the reinstallation of the door.
  • Do not lay the unit flat as this may damage the coolant system.
  • We recommend that 2 people handle the unit during assembly.
  • If you want to have the door swing reversed, we recommend that you contact a qualified technician. You should only try to reverse the door yourself if you believe that you are qualified to do so.
  1. Remove the upper cover, upper hinge cover, upper door cover and upper door corner block.
Upper hinge cover has left and right side. The upper hinge cover packed as an accessory is for the left side.

  2. Unplug the electrical cord. Remove the upper corner cover.
Upper corner cover has left and right side. There is the letter “L” and “R” at the back to identify which side it belongs to. The upper corner cover packed as an accessory is for the right side.

  3. Remove the screws and loosen the wire from the hinge. Remove the upper hinge. Lift the door and place it on a padded surface to prevent from being scratched.

  4. Remove the stopper and stop block from the bottom of the door and move them to the opposite side. Screw tightly.

  5. Remove both levelling feet, levelling feet fix board and bottom hinge.

  6. Do not lay the unit flat as this may damage the coolant system.

  7. During door reversal, when swapping the position of the bottom hinge or adjusting the levelling feet, tilt the unit. Do not lay the unit flat.

  8. Swap the position of the levelling feet fix board with the bottom hinge. On the bottom hinge, move the position of the bottom hinge pin to the other hole. Tighten the pin securely.

  9. Screw the levelling feet fix board, bottom hinge and levelling feet tightly on their new position.

  10. Swap the position of the wires between the left and right slots on top of the unit.

  11. Reverse the upper hinge and place it on its new position. Fix the wire on the hinge. Place the bottom hole of the door onto the bottom hinge pin. Insert the upper hinge pin into the upper hole of the door. Tighten the pin securely. Screw the upper hinge tightly. 10. Plug the electrical cord. Cover the upper hinge with the upper hinge cover.
    Ensure the door is aligned
horizontally and vertically, so that the seals are closed on all sides before finally tightening the pin.

  12. Plug the electrical cord. Cover the upper hinge with the upper hinge cover.

  13. Reverse the upper door corner block and attach on the door. Put back the upper door cover.

  14. Move the magnet cord to the opposite side and attach the corner cover. Put back the upper cover.

  15. Move the door handle to the other side of the door accordingly.

Installing in pairs with Freezer Unit (optional)

You can install the fridge with a freezer unit side by side in pairs by attaching them with fitting kit accessories (not included, need to purchase separately).

Ensure the fridge and freezer units are of the same height or levelled, otherwise they cannot be attached together. Adjust their levelling feet until both units are levelled.

Ensure there is enough space.
Before attaching the 2 units, check if the doors and door handles need reversing to the correct position.

  1. Place a connecting board at the back of both units and screw tightly.
  2. Place a connecting board on top of both units and screw tightly.
  3. Remove the hole cover above the levelling foot of both units. Place a connecting board and screw tightly. Covers the screws with a screw cover.
  4. Insert a connecting strip in the gap between the units.

In some cases, the door seal may be crushed after prolonged storing pressure, resulting to the door seal not able to close properly when reversed.

Follow the steps below to solve the issue:

  1. Peel off the door seal from the upper or lower corner and warm it with a hairdryer; the warmth can allow the door seal to return to its original form. Do not blow directly on the unit as the warmth may damage other parts of the unit.
  2. Rotate the door seal upside down so that the side originally with the hinge stay with the hinge.
  3. Insert the door seal back into the door from the upper or lower corner.
  4. If the issue still occurs, contact your local service centre for assistance.

Cleaning Before Use
Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda. Then rinse with warm water using a sponge or cloth. Wipe completely dry before replacing the shelves and salad bin. Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth
If you require more information refer to the Cleaning section.

  • Before Plugging in YOU MUST
Check that you have a socket which is compatible with the plug supplied with the unit.

  • Before Turning On!
Do not turn on until two hours after moving the unit. The coolant fluid needs time to settle..

Before Using Your Unit
Before placing any food in your unit, turn it on and wait for 24 hours, to make sure it is working properly and to allow it time to fall to the correct temperature. Your unit should not be overfilled.

Product Overview

All accessories such as drawers, shelves and balconies should be kept like the diagram here for the most efficient use of energy.

Operation

Switching On Your Unit

  1. Connect the mains cable to the mains socket. The internal temperature of your unit is controlled by an electronic control panel on the door.
  2. Press for 3 seconds to switch on or off the unit. If temperature has been set previously, the previous setting will be displayed when switching on the unit again
  3. Press Temp. repeatedly to set temperature for the fridge (2 to 8°C). The recommended temperature is 4°C.

  5. To ensure that the unit is cool enough to sufficiently chill your food, wait 24 hours before filling it with food.
  6. If you are concerned that your unit is not being kept cold enough and wish to check the temperature, you will need a special fridge/freezer thermometer. These are available from most supermarkets and hardware shops. Place the thermometer in the fridge and leave overnight. The correct temperature for the fridge should be 0-8°C.

Impact on food storage

  • A high temperature setting may accelerate food to turn bad, hence increase food waste. Therefore for optimum food preservation, a middle temperature setting is generally the most safe and suitable.
  • Under recommended setting, the best storage time in the fridge is no more than 3 days.
  • The best storage time may reduce under other settings.

Super Cool Mode

  • Press Super Cool to activate the super cool mode. The light will be illuminated. Temperature in the fridge will be quickly lowered to 2°C, and food in the fridge can be kept fresh for a longer period.
  • To switch off, press Temp., and the freezer temperature will resume to the previous setting. Otherwise, super freeze mode will also automatically deactivate after 52 hours. The light will extinguish.

Holiday Mode

  • If you will be away for a period of time, you can set the fridge to holiday mode. Press Holiday to activate the holiday mode. The light will be illuminated. Temperature in the fridge will automatically set to 15°C. Do not store any food in the fridge during holiday mode.
  • To switch off, press either Holiday, Super Cool or Temp., and the fridge temperature will resume to the previous setting. The light will extinguish.

Door Alarm
In case of door alarm, the alarm indicator will illuminate and an alarm will sound, press Alarm to deactivate the alarm.
When the door is left opened for over 1 minute, the alarm will be activated. The alarm will sound 3 times per minute and will automatically stop sounding after 10 minutes if Alarm is not pressed.

Child lock
When child lock is activated, pressing all buttons will not work except pressing Alarm.

  • To activate child lock, press and hold Child Lock for 3 seconds. The child lock icon will illuminate.
  • To deactivate child lock, press and hold Child Lock for 3 seconds. The child lock icon will extinguish.

Noises Inside the Unit!
You may notice that your unit makes some unusual noises. Most of these are perfectly normal, but you should be aware of them! These noises are caused by the circulation of the refrigerant liquid in the cooling system. It has become more pronounced since the introduction of CFC free gases. This is not a fault and will not affect the performance of your unit. This is the compressor motor working, as it pumps the refrigerant around the system.

Tips for Keeping Food in the Unit

  • Cooked meats/fishes should always be stored on a shelf above raw meats/fishes to avoid bacterial transfer. Keep raw meats/fishes in a container which is large enough to collect juices and cover it properly. Place the container on the lowest shelf at the bottom of the fridge compartment.
  • Leave space around your food, to allow air to circulate inside the compartments. Ensure all parts of the unit are kept cool.
  • To prevent transfer of flavours and drying out, pack or cover the food separately. Fruit and vegetables do not need to be wrapped.
  • Always let pre-cooked food cool down before you put in the unit. This will help to maintain the internal temperature of the unit.
  • To prevent cold air escaping from the unit, try to limit the number of times you open the doors. We recommend that you only open the doors when you need to put food in or take food out.
  • Hang the bottle stopper on any door shelf to hold bottles firmly in place.
Compartment (if applicable)| Type of food
    ---|---
Fridge door shelf| •    Foods with natural preservatives, such as jams, juice, drinks, condiments

•    Do not store perishable foods

Salad bin| •    Fruits, herbs and vegetables should be placed separately in the salad bin

•    Do not store bananas, onions, potatoes, garlic in the refrigerator

Fridge glass shelf – middle| Dairy products, eggs
Fridge glass shelf – top| Foods that do not need cooking, such as ready-to-eat foods, deli meats, leftovers

Salad Bin
The temperature in the salad bin is best to store fruits and vegetables, but not favourable to store fish and meat.

Meat & Fish Bin
The temperature in the meat & fish bin is best to store fish and meat. Do not store fruits and vegetables as they may be frozen and damaged. This is because the temperature in the meat & fish bin is lower than other fridge bins (can be lower than 0ºC). For example, if the fridge temperature is set to 4ºC, the temperature in the meat & fish bin can be around between -2ºC to 2ºC.

Cleaning the interior and the exterior of the unit

  • Remove all foods from the unit.
  • Switch off and unplug the unit.
  • Remove all the shelves, drawers and other accessories. Wash them then wipe dry.
  • Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda and then rinse with warm water using a sponge or cloth. Wipe completely dry before replacing the shelves, drawers and salad bin.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior, and then wipe with a standard furniture polish. Make sure that the door is closed to avoid the polish getting on the magnetic door seals or inside the unit.
  • The grille of the condenser at the back of the unit and the adjacent components can be vacuumed using a soft brush attachment.
  • Do not use any abrasive or acidic cleaners. Do not use steam cleaners.

Switching Off for Long Periods of Time
When the unit is not in use for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains supply, empty all food and clean the unit, leaving the doors ajar to prevent unpleasant smells.

Condensation
Condensation may appear on the outside of the unit. This may be due to a change in room temperature. Wipe off any moisture residue. If the problem continues, please contact a qualified technician for assistance.

Disposal

Old units still have some residual value. An environmentally friendly method of disposal will ensure that valuable raw materials can be recovered and used again. The refrigerant used in the unit and insulation materials require special disposal procedures. Ensure that none of the pipes on the back of the unit are damaged prior to disposal. Up to date information concerning options of disposing of your old unit and packaging from the new one can be obtained from your local council office. When disposing of an old unit break off any old locks or latches and remove the doors as a safeguard.
