Cleaning and Sterilization

Procedure : Mouth Props, Mouth Opener and HVE Adapter

  • Applies to the Open Wide® Wraparound (OWR), Tab (OWT) mouth props, the Molini™ Mouth Opener (MMO) and the Corbin™ HVE Adapter (CA-HVE 4).
  • The Molini™ Mouth Opener, Open Wide® Reusable Mouth Props and Corbin™ HVE Adapter are not sterile when packaged. These devices are autoclavable by either steam or chemical methods. They should be cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner or manually with a brush, a mild detergent and water, removing all organic or inorganic matter, prior to placing in the autoclave. If a saliva ejector tip is included as a demonstration with your product, it is not autoclavable. The Corbin Adapters can be autoclaved up to 10 times*. Replace after that, or when they look worn.
  • Note that the maximum temperature is 285 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Please Note: Alcohol is a poor cleaning agent in the presence of bioburden (blood and saliva, bacterial spores.) After exposure to alcohol, denatured bioburden becomes more insoluble and tenaciously adherent to most surfaces and may cause staining.
*Always follow OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control procedures.
