This document applies to the refill station indicated on the title page. Product names may occur in the document, which are added for identification purposes only and belong to the respective owner of the rights.
Target Groups
This instruction manual is aimed at the operator of the device, technically
qualified specialists, and trained personnel.

Safety
Intended use
The device is used exclusively for filling the helium pressure cans (HeliCan) used in the INFICON SMART-Spray.
Incorrect usage
Avoid the following unintended uses:
- Filling pressure cans for devices other than the SMART-Spray
- Use with helium concentrations other than those specified by INFICON (helium with a purity >= 95%)
- Evacuating the device
- Installation and use in electrotechnical systems/machines
- Inhalation of helium
- Connection of pressurized liquids
- Connection of gases with excessively high pressures (> 6 bar relative)
- Use without suitable fastening
- Spraying gas without pressure can connect, the face, ear, or eye
- Use of the device in case of detectable defects
- Use in radioactive areas
- Pressure cans that are not intended for use with the SMART-Spray.
- Pressure cans that have been filled with excessive pressure (> 6 bar relative) or use a direct gas connection instead of a pressure can.
- Use of gases other than helium (flammable, toxic, explosive) or helium concentrations other than those specified
- Use outside the technical specifications, see “Technical Data”
- Use of accessories or spare parts, which are not listed in this manual
- Flushing (e.g. for cleaning) with liquids or gases via the gas connection
- Permanent switching (e.g. with clamping device, cable tie) of the operating button
Duties of the Operator
- Read, observe, and follow the information in this instruction manual and the work instructions provided by the owner. This concerns in particular the safety and warning instructions.
- Always observe the complete operating instructions for all work.
- If you have any questions about operation or maintenance that are not answered in this instruction manual, contact INFICON service.
Owner Requirements
The following notes are for companies or any person who is responsible for the safety and effective use of the product by the user, employees, or third parties.
Safety-conscious operation
- Operate the device only if it is in perfect technical condition and has no damage.
- Only operate the device properly by this instruction manual, in a safety and risk-conscious manner.
- Adhere to the following regulations and observe their compliance:
- Intended use
- Universally valid safety and accident prevention regulations
- International, national, and local standards and guidelines
- Additional device-related provisions and regulations
- Only use original parts or parts approved by the manufacturer.
- Keep this instruction manual available on-site.
Personnel qualifications
- Only instructed personnel should be permitted to work with and on the device. The instructed personnel must have received training on the device.
- Make sure that authorized personnel have read and understood the instruction manual and all other applicable documents.
Dangers
The measuring instrument was built according to the state-of-the-art and recognized safety regulations. Nevertheless, improper use may result in risk to life and limb on the part of the user or third parties, or damage to the unit or other property may occur.
Danger from exploding refill station
Parts of the refill station can fly around and cause serious injuries.
- Only fill empty HeliCan that have been approved by INFICON.
- Fill the HeliCan with a maximum of 6 bar relative.
- Only use helium for filling.
- Always keep the openings, ventilation, and air vents clear and clean.
Health hazard due to escaping helium
Risk of suffocation or fainting if helium escapes.
- Only use the Refill Station in well-ventilated rooms.
- Before each filling, check all components for damage and proper condition.
- Never press the fill button without a HeliCan screwed on.
- Always screw the HeliCan properly onto the Refill Station before starting the filling process.
- Stop the filling process if a leak is detected or if the filling process takes longer than 10 seconds.

Transport
NOTICE
Damage caused by transport
Transporting unsuitable packaging material can damage the device.
- Keep the original packaging.
- Only transport the device in its original packaging.
- Remove the screwed-in HeliCan before transport.
Storage
Always store the device in compliance with the technical data, see “Technical Data [ RIGHT 10]”. Only store and transport the appliance without the HeliCan screwed in.

- The refill station is used to fill HeliCan with helium.

Installation
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to incorrect installation Injury caused by Refill-Station
falling. Poor posture or fatigue due to unergonomic installation of the
Refill-Station.
- Attach the refill station properly to the wall or work area.
- When used as a tabletop device, ensure that the refill station is sufficiently stable.
NOTICE
Damage to the pressure cans due to excessive filling pressure Limit the helium
supply to 6 bar using a pressure reducer.
- Mounted connecting hose ( When attaching the refill station, ensure that the connecting hose is not damaged.)
- Hole for attaching the Refill-Station Ø 5 mm

- Connection for helium including union nut
- Set up the refill station in a stable position and install the refill station using the spacer sleeves supplied.
- When installing the refill station, use the spacer sleeves supplied.
- Connect the helium supply line to the connection fitting using a suitable hose (outer diameter 8 mm, inner diameter 6 mm).
- Attach the hose using the union nut supplied.
- The refill station is installed.

Operation

Damaged or contaminated connection fitting
- Before screwing in the HeliCan, carry out a visual inspection of the connection fitting of the Refill Station and the HeliCan. The connection fitting must be free of dirt and damage.
- The refill station is properly set up or fastened and connected ready for operation.
- Screw the HeliCan onto the connection fitting and tighten the HeliCan fingertight.
- Press the fill button and fill the HeliCan until the filling pressure of 6 bar relative is reached.
- Unscrew the HeliCan from the Refill Station.
- HeliCan is filled.
Cleaning
WARNING
Injury due to improper handling of liquids
Damage to the device due to cleaning with liquids.
- Only clean the appliance with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
WARNING
Injury due to explosion or damage
Injury due to explosion of the Refill Station.
- Remove the HeliCan before cleaning or maintenance.
- Disconnect the HeliCan from the helium supply before cleaning or maintenance. Only clean the Refill Station with a damp cloth.
Decommissioning
Disposing of the device
The device can either be disposed of by the operator or be sent to the
manufacturer. The device consists of materials that can be recycled. This
option should be exercised to prevent waste and also to protect the
environment. During disposal, observe the environmental and safety regulations
of your country.
- Refill stations must not be disposed of with household waste.
Send in refill station for maintenance, repair, or disposal
WARNING
Danger due to harmful substances
Contaminated devices could endanger health. The contamination declaration serves to protect all persons who come into contact with the device. Devices sent in without a return number and completed contamination declaration will be returned to the sender by the manufacturer.
- Fill in the declaration of contamination completely.
- Contact the manufacturer and send in a completed declaration of contamination before the return shipment.
- You will then receive a return number and the shipping address.
- Use the original packaging when returning.
- Before shipping the instrument, attach a copy of the completed contamination declaration to the outside of the package. For contamination declaration see below.
Declaration of Contamination
The service, repair, and/or disposal of vacuum equipment and components will only be carried out if a correctly completed declaration has been submitted. Non-completion will result in delay. This declaration may only be completed (in block letters) and signed by authorized and qualified staff.
