OVERVIEW
USING INSTRUCTIONS
BLANK PREPARATION
- Upper tube length = 40.6mm. Recommended drill size = 11/32
- Nib barrel (lower) tube length = 52.6mm. Recommended drill size = 11/32
MOUNTING ON THE LATHE
- Both tubes are the same diameter but are different lengths. The longer tube goes at the nib end of the pen and the shorter tube goes at the clip end.
- All bushes are identical and can be used in any position.
ASSEMBLY
- Press the section and mechanism connector into opposite ends of the nib barrel.
- Pass the clip gasket over the tenon of the finial, then press the finial into the upper barrel.
- The spring is slightly tapered. Fit it onto the refill so that its wider end is nearest the tip of the refill, then place the refill inside the lower barrel and screw in the mechanism.
- The upper barrel is a friction fit onto the mechanism – you do not need to use a pen press to fit it. The refill is extended by holding the lower barrel with one hand and twisting the upper barrel with the other.
- The refill is accessed preferably by pulling the upper barrel off the pen and then unscrewing the mechanism, or alternatively by unscrewing the upper barrel, which means that the mechanism will remain inside it.
- Note that there is a small ridge inside the finial which in the event that the upper barrel has been unscrewed, prevents the the user from inadvertently pushing the mechanism in too far whilst re-assembling the pen following a change of refill, and no matter how a potential customer takes the pen apart at your craft fair, the mechanism cannot get stranded inside.
