Device Placement

The soundbar enhances the sound capabilities of conventional systems. When used with a visual display, place it as close as possible below the screen, symmetrically aligned with the centre of the screen. The front speakers should face directly towards the listening position. Remember that rich sound entails forced vibrations in the surrounding area and the device itself. Avoid placing any objects around the device that may rattle or vibrate. Maintain a gap of at least a few millimetres between the soundbar and the screen.

Sub woofer Placement
The sub woofer’s base must be flat and sturdy. Both the speaker and the bass reflex port must face into the open space in the room. Place the sub woofer close to the soundbar for even sound distribution. Placing it in a room corner may slightly increase the amount of bass in the room, but it usually results in more undesired room resonances (modes). The signal transmission from the main unit (soundbar) to the sub woofer is wireless.

Remote Control and Battery

Safety Precautions for Batteries
Always use batteries correctly. Ensure correct polarity (plus and minus) when inserting batteries. Use non-rechargeable batteries. Do not recharge batteries (non-rechargeable batteries), disassemble them, or throw them into the fire. Do not mix different types of batteries or new batteries with old ones. Do not leave damaged or discharged batteries in the remote control. If the remote control is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage from electrolyte leakage. If the remote control malfunctions or its range decreases, replace the batteries with new ones. If electrolyte leaks from the battery, first clean the battery compartment and then replace the batteries with new ones.

Usage

Powering On and Off the Soundbar and Sub woofer

  1. Plug the power adapter into an AC socket and the connector at the end of the cable into the power input on the soundbar. Connect the sub woofer power supply in the same way. After connecting the soundbar to the main socket, the device will be in BT mode.
  2. Turn on the soundbar by short pressing the button on the soundbar or the remote control. It will automatically switch to the previous mode, or to Bluetooth mode on the first power-on.
  3. Press and hold the button on the soundbar or the remote control for 2 seconds to turn off the unit. To completely turn off the unit, disconnect the power adapter from the socket.

Selecting Sound Modes and Sound Settings

MOVIE – mode optimised for movies and dramatic arts. Slightly widens the stereo base and harmonically emphasises the speech range.
MUSIC – music playback mode. Delivers stereo channels without harmonic and spatial adjustments.
DIALOGUE – mode optimised for the speech intelligibility. Significantly reduces the noise and interference frequency band.

The soundbar, along with its sub woofer, uses physiological volume control. This ensures a slower decrease in low-frequency volume compared to mid and high-frequency volumes. It is more pronounced in MOVIE and MUSIC modes, and less so in DIALOGUE mode. If you are listening in a very quiet room at low volumes and the sub woofer’s sound is disruptive, you can turn off its sound by quickly pressing the PLAY/PAUSE button twice on the side panel of the soundbar (not on the remote control). When the sub woofer’s sound is disconnected, its red indicator LED blinks slowly. Reconnecting the sub woofer is done by quickly pressing the PLAY/PAUSE button twice on the side panel of the soundbar (not on the remote control), and turning on the sub woofer sound takes about 5 seconds after the double press. The red indicator LED will start shining steadily, and the sub woofer will start playing.

Selecting and Using Inputs

Press the “ ” button on the soundbar or the corresponding button on the remote control to select BT, AUX, OPTICAL, HDMI ARC.

Note:
This soundbar remembers the last used input; upon restarting, it will revert to the last mode before shutdown.

Sound Playback via BT Connection

  1. Turn on the soundbar, it will automatically enter Bluetooth mode, or if it is in a different mode, press the “ ” button on the soundbar or “BT” on the remote control to switch to Bluetooth mode. The white indicator blinks slowly.
  2. Activate pairing mode on your phone or other compatible device using a BT connection, search for available devices and select “SSB 5500BW”.
  3. After successful pairing, the white indicator LED will stay steadily lit (and turn off after 15 seconds). You can now play music from your phone or other paired compatible devices on the soundbar.
  4. Use the volume buttons on the soundbar or on the remote control to adjust the volume according to your requirements.
  5. If you wish, you can change the sound settings using the corresponding buttons on the remote control.

Note on Playback Control:
Depending on the connected audio source and its software, you can usually control its playback – play/pause and skip to previous and next tracks. On the side panel of the soundbar (PLAY/PAUSE button and Volume+ and Volume− buttons pressed briefly) and on the remote control (PLAY/PAUSE button and Previous and Next buttons).
During playback, the first press of the Previous button usually skips to the beginning of the current track, only the second press skips to the previous track. Not all devices support this control from the soundbar. Volume settings of the soundbar and the connected device in BT mode are independent, set them to appropriate values. You can adjust the volume of the soundbar by long- pressing Volume+ and Volume− on its side panel or by pressing Volume+ and Volume− on the remote control.

Aux Input (3.5 mm)

It requires 3.5 mm audio cable (not included).

  3. Use the volume buttons on the TV remote control to adjust the volume of the soundbar.

Tips for ARC Sound:

  • Use a high-quality HDMI cable and ensure it is securely inserted into the source and soundbar sockets.
  • ARC (Audio Return Channel) is an extended digital audio output and is activated from the audio source. Make sure that HDMI ARC function is activated on the TV, which may be named differently depending on the TV manufacturer. Consult the TV manual for details.
  • ARC output from the source should be set to PCM output, not Dolby Digital.

Caution:
Depending on the TV software, more additional information than just sound is transmitted via the correct HDMI cable. These can include: device name SSB 5500BW, soundbar volume control (in 32 levels), soundbar volume information, turning the soundbar on and off together with the TV. Refer to the TV manual to see which of these additional features are supported and how to activate them. Some additional features may not be available even if they are included and enabled in the TV.

Important Tips for Optical Sound:

  • Use the correct optical audio cable and ensure it is securely inserted into the source and soundbar sockets.
  • The optical audio output is activated from the audio source (a red light should be visible on the optical socket). In the source settings menu, it may be labelled as S/PDIF.

The optical output of the source should be set to PCM output, not Dolby Digital.

USB Playback

Press the “ ” button briefly to turn on the soundbar, insert the USB into the USB port, and the soundbar will start playing music from the USB drive. Press “PLAY/PAUSE” briefly to play/pause the music. MP3 music is played from the root directory of the inserted USB drive.
