FlexyMike DEC quick setup tips
Even if you are a do-it-yourself man, read through these tips before setting up your FlexyMike DEC headset. Whatever the case you should not apply any undue force!
Tip one: unhook the ears
When the microphone is first unpacked you will see that it has been folded
flat. This is an unique feature of your device for easy transport and storage.
Remove it from the case and gently unhook the ear hooks from each other.
Tip two: reposition the ears at 90°
Pick one of the ear hooks and hold firmly the bulbous connector in one hand.
With your other hand gently hold the bend in the ear hook and pull it away a few milimeters from the connector.
Then gently rotate until the ear hook is 90° to the main body. As you begin to release the hook back in, you should feel a notch that it will slot into. You have completed one side. Repeat on the other.
Tip three: expand the frame
Continue to hold the bulbous connector and pull it carefully from the frame to
eventually expand it a couple of centimeters. Repeat on the other.
This operation may need to be repeated when you first wear the headset to adjust the comfort and fit to your head.
Tip four: support the boom
Position the bracket towards the end of the brace to provide optimal support.
Tip five: plug in the headset
Plug directly in if using split Microphone/Headphone ports.
If using a combined headset and mic port as found on more recent laptops and mobile phones then use the supplied TRRS adapter!

Tip six: final head and Dragon adjustment
Adjust the device on your head. Gently pull and push the boom as in Tip three, and even bend it a bit, for the best positioning of the capsule regarding your lips (about 2 – 3 cm with our recommended USB Adapter). The right distance obviously depends on both the volume of your voice and the sensitivity of your audio card input.
If using the headset with Dragon, you will easily find it when choosing it as your audio source and run once or several times the “Microphone Check” test. Seek for ample movements of the green color “Listening bar”, but without running into a “The sound level is too high” alert message.
With our very sensitive USB MultiAdapter use the BLUE LED mode at a very loose 5 – 10 cm dictation range or even the GREEN one for very Long-range of up to 50 cm (!), with the headset standing on top of a table or attached to your PC monitor. Which means even using your headset as a top quality Desktop mike when you are tired or wearing it!
Reverse the steps three to one, so that you can return the headset to the box for easy transport and storage –another unique feature. Enjoy it now!
