Note: This guide uses U.S. terms for crochet stitches and demonstrates right-handed instruction.

MOUTH

How to Hold the Crochet Hook

The first step is to learn how to hold the yarn and the crochet hook in a way that feels comfortable for you. Most people hold the hook in their dominant hand and the yarn in their non-dominant hand.

1. Pencil Grip: Hold the crochet hook like a pencil between your thumb and index finger.
2. Knife Grip: Place your hand over the hook, palm facing down. Hold the hook between your thumb and index finger.

How to Hold the Yarn for Crochet

To hold the yarn, loop the yarn through the fingers of your non-dominant hand.

• Pass the yarn over the pinkie, under the third and middle fingers, and over your index finger. (To create more tension on the yarn, you can loop the yarn once around the pinkie)

How to Tie a Slip Knot

1. Pull a length of yarn from the ball. Start the loop approximately 6 inches from the end of the yarn.
2. Insert the crochet hook into the center of the loop, from front to back. Use the hook to grab the ball-end yarn, and pull it through the center of the loop
3. Pull both ends of the yarn to tighten the loop around the hook.

How to Yarn Over

• Loop the working yarn over the hook clockwise from back to front.
• Use your left-hand index finger to wrap the yarn over the crochet hook, or use your right hand to pivot the hook under the yarn.
• Either action accomplishes the same thing.

How to Make a Starting Chain[chl

1. Bring the working yarn over the hook from back to front (aka ·yarn over”).
2. Rotate the hook slightly to catch the yarn in the bowl (or mouth) of the hook.
3. Pull the hook through the loop on the hook. One chain stitch is complete.

How to Make the Magic Ring[mrl

• Step 1: Loop the yarn around your fingers
• Step 2: Insert the hook and pull up a loop.

• Step 3: Chain 1 (or the required number of chains.)
• Step 4: Make stitches into the ring.

• Step 5: Tighten the ring.
• Step 6: Slip the Stitch to close the round.

How to Single Crochet[sc]

• Step 1: Insert hook into the next stitch
• Step 2: Yarn over, and pull up a loop.
• Step 3: Then, yarn over again and pull through both loops on the hook.
• Step 4: This stitch is from the single-crochet

How to Half Double Crochet [hdc]

• Step 1: Yarn over, and insert the hook into the next stitch.
• Step 2: Yarn over and pull up a loop.
• Step 3: Yarn over again, and pull the yarn through all three loops on the hook.

• Step 1: Yarn over twice. Insert the hook into the next stitch.
• Step 2: Yarn over, and pull up a loop.
• Step 3: Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook.
• Step 4: Yarn over again and pull through the next two loops on the hook.
• Step 5: Yarn over again and pull through the last two loops on the hook.

How to Slip Stitch[sl st]

• Step 1: When you have finished the last stitch of the round, find the first stitch.
• Step 2: Insert your hook into the top of the first stitch of the round. Yarn over and draw through the stitch and the loop on the hook.
• Step 3: This type of slip stitch join is made in joined rounds.

Increase[Inc] and Decrease[Dec]

Single crochet increase
Increasing is very simple. Just make 2 or more stitches in the same stitch.

Single crochet decrease
For this stitch, you’ll work two neighboring stitches together to create one stitch.

• Insert the hook into the front loop of the first stitch and the second stitch. (Three loops on the hook.)
• Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. (Two loops on the hook)
• Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. (One loop on the hook, and the decrease stitch is complete.)

• Stick eyes on the front where you think they look
• Stick the bow on the head and finish

BODY

Align the bottom part 24 stitches with the round 10 Take the – yarn, [sl st], [ch] Tips: Need to put in the filling material before closing it.

Round 12 Empty one stitch and hook S[dc] in the next stitch Empty one stitch again and [sl st] to the next stitch.
The two steps make a lace, and round 12 needs to repeat the step to make 5 laces Cut yarn, pull the yarn tight and hide the tail inside.

• Sew the mouth in the middle, and hide the yarn.
• Stick eyes on the front where you think they look good and finish.

• Pull the yarn tight and hide the tail inside, cut the yarn.
• Curl the tail and secure it to make the seahorse’s tail more cute.

Finish body

• Sew several times to secure, hide the yarn inside the body, and cut the yarn.

Wing Use the white yarn. Make two

Back fin Use the white yarn.

Mouth Use the violet yarn

ASSEMBLING

• Sew the wings to the sides of the seahorse’s body
• Sew to make the seahorse’s wings close to the body
• Cut yarn and finish

• Hold one end in place on the top of the seahorse’s head along the middle of back
• Hold the back fin in the middle of the back as shown in the picture

• Sew along the edge of the mouth to the middle of the seahorse’s head
• Stick eyes on the front where you think they look good and finish
