Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How do I determine the number of Gangway Accessory Kits needed for my setup?
    • A: For each additional 4 feet of gangway length beyond the initial 8 feet, add one Gangway Accessory Kit. For example, a 12′ gangway requires 2 kits, and a 16′ gangway requires 3 kits.
  • Q: What wood materials are required for the dock and gangway?
    • A: Refer to the provided Wood List for the required dimensions of fascia/end boards, stringers/joists, and decking boards for both the dock and gangway assembly.

Construction Plans

  • 1 10’x10’ Dock
  • 1 4’x8’ Gangways

  • 2 Shoreline Post Connectors (optional)
  • 1 Gangway Accessory Kit (optional)
  • 1 Ladder (optional)

Outdoor Water Solutions Dock Kit

  • Congratulations for purchasing one of our dock kits. This is a do it yourself project that uses high quality heavy duty materials designed to last for many years.
  • The standard dock kit does not include a ladder or U-bolts for the side of the dock as some people elect to install 2 eye bolts and tie the two sides at a 45 degree angle to the shoreline. The U-bolt kit and/or ladder can be purchased separately and added to the package.
  • The 10’ x 10’ swim platform can be made into a 12’ x 12’ structure by using 12’ lumber instead of 10’. The floats will accommodate the larger structure.
  • The 4’ x 8’ gangway can also be made longer (4’ x 10’, 4’ x 12’) for example. You may need 1 or 2 more of the smaller floats to achieve adequate flotation. We offer a Gangway Accessory Kit with extra floats and hardware

Gangway Accessory Kit (Optional)

  • (1) 24” x 48” x 16” Float
  • (6) 3/8” x 5” Lag Bolts Galvanized
  • (6) 3/8” x 1 ½” Fender Washers Galvanized
  • (2) Connector Pins (3/4” Connector Pin + Cotter Pin)

You’ll need this if you’re purchasing multiple gangways and connecting them to get your dock further out into your pond or lake. Our standard 4’x 8′ gangway comes with one float as one side usually connects into the shoreline. If you are using multiple gangways, you’ll need 2 floats on each 8′ gangway out in the water and connector pins to connect the gangways together.

NOTE: For gangway’s longer than 8′, you will need additional floats. For 8′ connector gangways, we recommend two floats total (one with the 4′ x 8′ gangway and a second with the accessory kit). Add one additional Gangway Accessory Kit for each 4′ of gangway length. So for a 12′ Gangway that is out in the water, you would need 2 Accessory Kits. For a 16′ Gangway, you would need 3 Accessory Kits to go with the initial gangway.

This kit gives you all hardware necessary to connect your Gangway into the shoreline using a 6″ x 6″ post or a 6″ or 8″ pressure-treated board attached to two posts. There are many ways to tie your gangway into the shoreline, but this seems to work well
