*) The internal wiring of the control module’s LED control gears (220-240 V) has been implemented with fixed parallel connection and therefore supply voltage is always on  in all control gears regardless of a luminaire being connected to it or not. Because of this any unconnected luminaires are regarded as luminaires in the table section Max. number per automatic circuit breaker.

These instructions must be kept and handed over to the user of the property!

INSTALLATION

  • The luminaire may only be installed by a professional electrician in accordance with local legislation.

  • Both the luminaire and the control module may only be used in an environment for which they have been designed according to their rating label.

  • Always connect the luminaires when there is no incoming voltage.

  • In order to avoid damage to the electronic control gear and other sensitive electronic parts, connect the zero to the phase conductor prior to the insulation test (max.  500V DC).

  • Changing the construction of the luminaire and making any changes to cabling is prohibited.

  • I-Valo luminaires are always delivered equipped with mounting holes. Do not make any other holes in the frame.

  • Do not change or modify the structure or wiring of the luminaire or the control module!

  • The internal wiring of the control module’s LED control gears (220-240 V) has been implemented with fixed parallel connection. Thus, supply voltage is always on in all  control gears regardless of a luminaire being connected to it or not.

  • If a luminaire is not connected to all bushing seals, the sealing of the bushing must be ensured. Empty bushing seals are not allowed.

  • Please note that the ambient temperature is different for the control module and the luminaire.
These temperature restrictions must be followed when selecting the application of the luminaire.

  • See wiring instructions on page 4
    – Connect the connector delivered with the luminaire to the connecting cable according to separate wiring instructions (the connector manufacturer’s wiring instructions  are delivered with the connector).
    – Connect the connector head to the luminaire.
    – The other end of the cable is connected to the control module in accordance with separate wiring instructions.

  • The XENRE luminaire unit is installed with installation brackets that are ordered separately depending on the installation
    – mounting rail for one luminaire X100
    – mounting rail for two luminaires X220
    – wall bracket X110

Note: Screws for the X brackets are pre-installed in the frame of the luminaire. The highest permitted tightening torque is 5,9 Nm. The basic I-Valo brackets mentioned below also require a X100 or X220 bracket.
– wire bracket 6079
– wall bracket 6060 (2 pcs)

  • In addition to the abovementioned mounting brackets, the selection includes a wide range of other brackets for different mounting methods, see: www.i-valo.com
  • The control module is installed separately in a cooler space (max. +60 degrees). It can also be installed with a separately ordered installation fastener according to the installation location:
    – wire suspension bracket 6021
    – stepless wall bracket 6035 (2 pcs)
    – wall bracket 6060 (2 pcs)
    – wall bracket 6061
    – pole bracket 6063
    – pipe bracket 6065
    – wire bracket 6079
    – adjustable rail bracket 6036 (2 pcs)

USAGE & MAINTENANCE

  • Both the luminaire and the control module may only be used in an environment for which they have been designed according to their rating label.

  • The luminaire unit must not be disassembled.

  • Before performing maintenance, power must be disconnected from the luminaire. It takes several minutes for the luminaire components to cool down.

  • Before opening the control module, the dirt accumulated on the surfaces must be removed.

  • The control module includes electronics that must not be exposed to electrostatic discharges (ESD) or dirt.

  • The luminaire may not be used without its cover glass or a PC/acrylic cover.

  • The condition of the mounting rail and bracket should be checked regularly.

  • A damaged luminaire must not be used; voltage must be disconnected from it and it must be repaired.

  • An unstable electrical grid may damage the electronic components of the luminaires.

  • Temperature and the quality of the supply voltage affect the service life of the control gear.
The estimated failure rate is 0.2% per each 1,000 operating hours at the luminaire’s maximum allowed ambient temperature. However, a failure rate of 10% remains  within normal limits.
Transients and voltage spikes significantly reduce the service life, as does unclean supply voltage.

  • The luminous emittance of LED luminaires has a tolerance of ±10%. The luminous flux of LED light sources decreases over their service life just like that of traditional  light sources. When an old LED luminaire is replaced with a new one, the difference in luminous emittance may be evident to the naked eye due to the better lighting  power of the new luminaire. The colour temperature of the luminaire may also change.

  • The product is covered by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE), and must be properly recycled at the end of its service life.

CLEANING

  • Voltage must be disconnected from the luminaire before cleaning. The electronic components and connectors must not be exposed to moisture.

  • The exterior surfaces of the luminaire should be cleaned of dirt occasionally, thus ensuring its effective operation. Regular cleaning is important for optimal luminous  emittance and service life.

  • A thick layer of dust on top of the luminaire increases its internal temperature. This may reduce the service life of the luminaire. The thickness of the dust layer in any  part of the luminaire must not exceed 2 mm.

  • If necessary, the luminaire can be cleaned with neutral soap solutions (pH 7), for example dishwashing liquids. They are also suitable for cleaning of the glass or the  polycarbonate cover.
Dilute the cleaning agent with water, and use a cloth rag or a sponge for cleaning.

  • Do not spray the cleaning agent directly onto the surface of the luminaire, as it might be difficult to remove from the protective cover.

  • Do not use a pressure washer to clean the luminaire.

FILTER REPLACEMENT

  • In a normal industrial environment, we recommend replacing the filter every 4-5 years. Depending on conditions, if dust accumulates on the cover glass, the filter should  be replaced whenever the cover glass is cleaned.

COMPONENTS

  • In case one of the electronic control gears turns defect, for one reason or another, replace it immediately by an equal one of I-Valo’s type. Check the condition of the  control gear at every luminaire unit change. The average lifetime of the electronic control gear is approx. 50,000 hours.
  • It is advisable to change the electronic control gear after the given operating hours.
  • For component change, open the quick latches and remove the control module cover. Once the control gear has been changed, clean the silicone sealings carefully. Press  the cover tightly against the frame and close the quick latches carefully.
  • Use I-Valo’s original spare parts only.

CONTROL GEAR REPLACEMENT

  • The control gear of the luminaire can be replaced by a professional electrician, if necessary. The control gear are in a control module that is separate from the luminaire. Switch off the power before replacing faulty control gear. The replacement may only be performed by a professional electrician in accordance with the local electrical safety regulations.

REMOVAL OF THE OLD TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE (see pictures at the end of the instructions)

  1. Disconnect the luminaire from the power network and make sure it is not live.

  2. Open the luminaire’s latches with a suitable tool, for example, a flat-bade screwdriver.

  3. Disconnect the connecting cables from the screw terminals.

  4. Disconnect the installation base for the control gear from the frame of the control module:
    • Unscrew the three screws keeping the installation base in place
    • Lift the installation base from the frame of the luminaire

  5. Recycle electrical components and other materials correctly

  6. Check the condition of the control module frame, attachment points, cable glands, latches, frame gasket and the condition of the earthing points.
INSTALLATION OF A NEW TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE (see pictures at the end of these instructions)
Please note that the electrical components are sensitive to electrostatic discharges (ESD).
To install the maintenance package, perform the steps in reverse order.

  7. Put the installation base in place.

  8. Tighten all screws carefully. However, do not tighten them too much.

  9. Connect the connectors of the connecting cables to the screw terminal.

  10. Close the control module cover and its latches carefully
