Product Usage Instructions

  1. Mounting Requirements and Selecting Location
The CASEANT[X]4-6-60[-X] antenna is designed to be fitted in the lid of a hard case. Ensure the antenna fits within the chosen case and select a location that provides separation from electronic equipment and conductive materials.

  2. Mounting Using the Adhesive Pad
Install the antenna in the case lid using the supplied adhesive pad. Position the back of the antenna (flat side with the label) facing the lid, especially crucial for antennas with GPS/GNSS function.

  3. Routing and Terminating Coaxial Cables
Route and terminate the low-loss CS30 coaxial cables provided with the antenna for flexible installation.

  4. Commission and Test
After installation, commission the antenna following the guidelines provided. Test its functionality to ensure proper operation.

  5. Notices
Always seek specialist advice for installations and ensure antennas are installed by qualified installers in compliance with local laws and regulations.

FAQs

  • Q: Can the antenna be installed in any hard case?

    • A: The antenna may not fit in all hard cases. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure suitability for installation within their chosen case.
  • Q How should I position the antenna for optimal performance?

    • A: Install the antenna with the back facing the lid of the case to maximize separation from electronic equipment and other materials.
  • Q: What is the purpose of the adhesive pad?

    • A: The adhesive pad is provided for permanent mounting of the antenna in the case lid.

Introduction

  • The CASEANT[X]4-6-60[-X] series is a line of adhesive mount 4×4 MiMo 4G LTE / 5G NR antennas designed specifically for installation in hard cases for deployable networks and similar applications. Versions of the antenna are available with support for L1 or L1/L5 GPS/GNSS function and 2, 3, or 4 elements for WiFi 6e / WiFi 7.
  • The antenna is fitted with low-loss CS30 coaxial cables for flexibility and ease of installation and can be permanently mounted via the supplied adhesive pad.
    • A version of this product contains an active GPS/GNSS antenna.
    • CASEANTG4 part numbers contain an L1 only GPS/GNSS antenna: Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current: 20mA maximum
    • CASEANTG54 part numbers contain an L1/L5 GPS/GNSS antenna: Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current: 37mA maximum
    • The supply to these devices must be provided with overcurrent protection of 1A maximum.

Mounting requirements and selecting a location

  • The CASEANT[X]4-6-60[-X] is designed to be fitted in the lid of a hard case. Please note that the antenna may not fit in all hard cases. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the antenna is suitable for installation within their chosen case. The antenna will normally be installed in the case lid using the supplied adhesive pad.
  • The location for the antenna should be selected to achieve as much separation as possible from any co-located electronic equipment, battery packs, or other conductive materials.
  • The antenna should be installed with the back of the antenna (the flat side with the label) facing the lid of the case. This is especially important where the antenna includes GPS/GNSS function.
  • The selected location should be as flat as possible to ensure that the adhesive pad will make maximum contact. The antenna can be oriented so that the cable exits sideways or vertically toward the bottom of the case. Ensure before installation that the cables can be successfully routed to the wireless device – consideration must be given to observing the minimum repeated bend radius 26mm (1”) but if that cannot be achieved 13mm (1/2”) radius should be respected as an absolute minimum. Ensure that the cable is routed so that it does not get trapped during lid movement. This should be included as part of the case design/layout.

Mounting using the adhesive pad

Note:
It is recommended that the installation is carried out when the temperature is greater than 50°F (10°C). The ideal temperature for the pad bonding is 70°F (21°C) to 100°F (37°C).

  • Before fitting, ensure that both the antenna face and mounting surfaces are clean and free of grease – use the supplied alcohol swab and allow the cleaned surfaces to dry before proceeding to fit the adhesive pad. In some cases, it may be necessary to stack two adhesive pads to accommodate curvature or features in the case lid.
  • Remove the protective backing from the adhesive pad and place it on the back face of the antenna to enable the correct side to face the case lid.
  • Position the antenna and apply adequate pressure to ensure that it has adhered evenly and firmly.

Routing and terminating coaxial cables

  • Plan the coaxial cable route to the wireless device to avoid running adjacent to any existing electrical wiring. Make sure that the cables are routed and retained in such a way that the case can be opened and closed without placing any strain on the antenna or the wireless device and without trapping or damaging the cables.
  • It is important to secure the cables effectively, while also allowing sufficient slack in the cables to accommodate the opening and closing of the lid.
  • Secure the cable run using the correct size cable ties or clips, so as not to distort/compress the cables. The cables must not be bent sharply – note that the repeated minimum bend radius for the cable is 26mm (1”) but if that cannot be achieved 13mm (1/2”) radius should be respected as an absolute minimum.

Commission and test

  • Check LTE/Cellular and WiFi cable(s):
Carry out VSWR check all feeds should measure as per datasheet specification.

  • Check GPS/GNSS cable:

    • Check the GPS/GNSS cable with DC to measure high resistance.
    • Connect the GPS/GNSS cable to the GPS/GNSS receiver and check for satellite acquisition.

Notices

  • DON’T
    • operate the equipment in an explosive atmosphere.
    • chew parts or put them in the mouth, and keep away from unsupervised children.
    • operate the transmitter/radio when any person is within 250mm (10”) of the antenna.
  • European Waste Electronic Equipment Directive 2002/96/EC
    • Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. All electronic products with the WEEE logo must be collected and sent to approved operators for safe disposal or recycling. Please recycle where facilities exist.
    • Many electrical/electronic equipment retailers facilitate a “Distributor Take-Back scheme” for household WEEE. Check with your Local Authority or electronic retailers for designated collection facilities where WEEE can be disposed of for free.
  • Please Recycle
Printed versions of these instructions can be recycled. When you have finished with these instructions please recycle them.
