What is a surfactant and are the surfactants used in Thieves Household Clean naturally derived?
A surfactant is a chemical agent capable of reducing the surface tension of a liquid in which it is dissolved. This means it breaks apart molecules and increases the spreading or wetting properties of water. They can help in dispersing other ingredients but are generally used in cleansers and cleaners to break through dirt, grime, and grease to wash away. The surfactants used in Thieves Household Cleaner are all derived from natural ingredients. The processes used to transform the natural bases into effective surfactants are all safe and within Young Living ingredient guidelines.
What surfaces can Thieves Household Cleaner be used on and at what dilution ratio?
Thieves Household Cleaner is safe at a 15 1 dilution or higher for most non- porous surfaces. This will include stainless steel, tile, fiberglass, and faux countertops. We recommend that you carefully test the use of this product in an inconspicuous area for granite (should be OK), marble, etc., as these surfaces are not always non-porous. Higher dilutions may be acceptable for varnished wood surfaces, but we always encourage you to test it first! When using Thieves Household Cleaner on vinyl or soft plastic surfaces, do not allow the cleaner to sit on the surface for an extended period of time.
