Installation

Warning

  • FOR YOUR SAFETY, ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MUST ONLY BE UNDERTAKEN BY A QUALIFIED AND LICENCED ELECTRICIAN!

  • For safe use of ceiling fans, an all-pole disconnection MUST be incorporated into the fixed wiring in
accordance with the wiring rules, as outlined in clause 7.12.2 of AS/NZS 60335-1 for meeting the minimum electrical safety of this standard.

  • A single pole isolation switch must be also placed in the same room as the fan as per local wiring regulations AS/NZS 3000, in accordance with clause 2.3.2.2.1& 4.13.1.3 of AS/NZS 3000.

  • If there are two or more ceiling fans installed in one location/room, an isolation switch is required for EACH celling fan. This is required when programming any remote-control transmitter & receiver to pair together, and for fan servicing.

This product should be installed in the same room/area as your ceiling fan.

The RF radio frequency is designed for normal transmission distance of approximately 8-10m, however this range can be reduced depending on the building materials used in construction. For best results, position the RF Wall Control no more than 8m from the ceiling fan it is to operate.

  1. IMPORTANT: Check that the power is disconnected and/or the mains switched off at the circuit box to ensure all pole isolation of the power supply. (Refer Fig. 1)
  2. Strip the end of the main household supply wires to expose max. 6mm of bare copper. The wall controls allows for 0.75 – 4.0mm2 of either rigid or stranded cable. (Refer Fig. 2)
  3. Connect supply LIVE wire to either L1 or L2 terminal on rear of wall control. (Refer Fig. 3)
  4. Connect supply NEUTRAL wire to either N1 or N2 terminal on rear of wall control. (Refer Fig. 3)
  5. Attach the RF wall control to the household wall plate (not incl.) or surface mounted wall plate (not incl.) using the screws provided. (Refer Fig. 4)
  6. Attach the wall control face plate by aligning over the wall control, and pushing on until it snaps into position. (Refer Fig. 4)
  7. Turn the power supply back on.

Look for the “Date Code” located on the fans rating label, which is located on the inside of the ceiling fan canopy.

  • Fans with a date code starting with ‘24’ (year 2024) can be paired to BOTH a handheld remote & this RF wall control at the same time. It is recommended that only the wall control be actively used, if using the handheld remote control, the wall control display will not be updated.
  • All ceiling fans with date code ’23’ or below (year 2023 or earlier) are only able to be paired to EITHER a handheld remote or this RF wall control. If you wish to restore the fans handheld remote controller again, please refer to the pairing procedure in the manual provided with your ceiling fan.
  1. Disconnect the power supply to your fan for at least 10 seconds by switching the isolation switch off or switching the circuit off.
  2. Turn power to the fan back on.
  3. Press and hold the “Fan On/Off” button until a beep is heard.

If you change the network name or password, you will need to repeat the above steps.

OPERATING YOUR RF WALL CONTROL:

The RF Wall Control can control all the functions of your EGLO DC ceiling fan, however, not all fans have the same functions. The following pages will guide you through each of the functions;

  • Fan Functions:
    • On/Off & Speed operation
    • Forward & Reverse (Summer/Winter mode)
    • Temperature based auto operation
    • Night Mode
    • Natural Breeze
    • Timer

    • Operation
    • Colour Changing
    • Light Dimming

If you are unsure if your ceiling fan has a certain function, refer to the manual supplied with your ceiling fan.

Operation

FAN ON / OFF:

On all models, to turn the fan ON:

  1. A short press of the ‘Fan On/Off’ button (< 1 sec); the fan will turn on, and fan will operate on MEDIUM speed, or subsequently, at the last operated speed.

On all models, to turn the fan OFF:

  1. While the fan is on, a short press of the ‘Fan On/Off’ button (< 1 sec); the fan will turn off.

SPEED ADJUSTMENT & NIGHT MODE:

FORWARD / REVERSE:

Note: Depending on fan model, button may require a longer press of button to activate. Refer to your ceiling fan manual, as the programming of the fan’s receiver determines the duration required.

TEMPERATURE-BASED AUTOMATION:

Your EGLO DC RF wall control is fitted with temperature-based automation which will automatically set the fan speed based on the ambient temperature within the room.

TEMPERATURE SETTINGS:

Temperature (°C) Fan Setting
< 18°C Fan OFF
18°C Fan remains at last active speed
19°C Fan remains at last active speed
20°C Fan remains at last active speed
20°C – 23°C Night mode or lowest speed
24°C Fan remains at last active speed
25°C – 28°C Medium / middle speed
29°C Fan remains at last active speed
> 29°C Highest speed

Note: Due to electronic tolerances and ambient circumstances, actual operation of this function might be slightly different to the settings, e.g.: fan runs at medium speed while screen displays 29°C.

Note: NOT every temperature sensor is identical, and they are often positioned at different heights, meaning differing temperatures can be displayed. If a temperature sensor on a different device is displaying a differing ambient temperature, this does not indicate a fault/failure with the sensor of the DC RF wall control.

NATURAL BREEZE:

Your EGLO DC RF wall control works with your fan to control the Natural Breeze function. Natural Breeze is a setting where your fan will automatically vary the fan speed to mimic nature’s wind patterns.

To operate the Natural Breeze function, use the Multi-Function button and follow these steps, relative to ‘Fan Code’.
(Refer to ‘Model Suitability’)

Note

  • Natural Breeze is only available on selected models, please refer to your ceiling fan manual to determine if your fan includes this feature.

TIMER

  • Your EGLO DC RF wall control works with your fan to control the Timer function, which will turn the fan OFF after a pre-selected time.

Note: When the fan is off, the Timer button will not function.

Note: When the Timer function is ON, the remaining time will be updated on the screen every hour.

LIGHT ON / OFF:

On all models with light, to turn the light ON:

  1. A short press of the “Light On/Off” button (< 1 sec); will turn the light ON.
  2. While the light is on, a short press of the “Light On/Off” button (< 1 sec); will turn the light OFF.
