Power Management Control
Instructional Manual

Introduction:

Thank you for your choice in purchasing a Core SWX power management control system. This PMC system is designed to improve and assist you in your mobile powering requirements. This product is at the pinnacle of technological advancements, offering the features and performance of several different products, making it the most advanced PMC product in the industry.
Please read this manual to help you understand and capitalize on the features of this PMC.

Features:

  • Power Management Control plate features 2 PTAPs, USBC-PD output, and HRS 4-pin 12V output
  • Runtime OLED for key voltage and battery percentage information
  • Hotswap capability between on-board battery and 11-17V DC power input for uninterrupted power supply
  • Burano I/O Module offers additional power outputs: two 2-pin 12V, 3Amp, and two 3-pin 24V, 3Amp. All outputs are digitally fused.
  • Temperature, current, and voltage protection.
  • Ergonomic design for side mounting in alignment with native I/O
  • R/S start-stop functions on 3-pin 24V connections
  • ARRI-style anti-twist 1/4-20 mount for compatibility with existing Burano top plates
  • Optional extension cable(#BUR-IO-EXT) available for moving the module to another location on the camera rig.

Operation:

  1. Power Management Operation
    • Connect the PMC module to the camera.
    • While the I/O module (sold in kit or separately) is designed for the Sony Burano, the PMC module is compatible with other V-mount accepting cameras.
    • Connect the DC Input (11-17V) and wait for the green DC input LED indicator.
    • The system prioritizes DC input over the on-board battery, ensuring continuous operation.
Utilize the hotswap capability for seamless power transitions.
o This feature allows for a smooth switch between the on-board battery and an 11-17V
DC power input without interrupting the power supply.
    • Monitor the connected battery status via the OLED.
o The OLED on the PMC module will display the status of the connected battery, indicating the active power source. The brighter source will be highlighted on the OLED. If the power source is low, the LED will display RED.
    • Use the additional power outputs as needed.
o The PMC module includes two PTAPs, a USB-C PD output, and an HRS 4-pin 12V output, all of which can be used simultaneously to power various accessories.

  2. I/O Integration
    • Mount the I/O module in alignment with the native I/O ports.
o Designed for side mounting, the I/O module fits seamlessly with the Sony Burano and
    o other compatible cameras.
    • Connect the I/O module before connecting power.
o Ensure all connections are made prior to powering up the module to prevent potential damage and ensure proper operation.
    • Utilize the available outputs on the I/O module.
o The module provides two 2-pin 12V, 3Amp outputs and two 3-pin 24V, 3Amp outputs for powering various accessories.

  3. R/S Control
    • Connect the included 2.5mm cable for remote start/stop functionality.
o This cable should be connected from the Remote output on the I/O Module to the Burano camera’s remote input. This setup allows for loop-through R/S start-stop functionality on 3-pin 24V connections. Make sure to establish this connection before powering up the PMC or I/O module.

Notes on Use:

  • Always make the I/O connection before powering the camera. This ensures proper functionality and prevents potential damage to the equipment.
  • Keep the silicone band on the I/O input connector. This allows for easy connection and removal to the PMC Module, maintaining the integrity of the connection points.
  • When plugging in DC power, ensure to connect the XLR into the PMC module. If you connect the XLR power directly to the camera input, your auxiliary connections will lose power when you remove the on-board battery. Connecting to the PMC module ensures continuous power to all auxiliary devices.
  • Using smart battery packs will transmit percentage data to the OLED on the PMC. Without a smart battery pack, the OLED will only display battery voltage, not the remaining battery percentage.
  • The USB-C port also serves as a firmware update port if needed. This dual functionality allows for easy updates and maintenance, ensuring your equipment stays up-to-date with the latest firmware.
