CO2 Regulator, CO2 Cartridge

  • Use only ADA genuine CO2 cartridges (CO2 Forest Bottle). Never use an adapter that is not ADA genuine products or connect other types of cartridges by modification as it is very dangerous. ※ADA genuine CO2 Adapter (optional) can be connected to large CO2 Tank, such as Tower. In this case, a dedicated hook cannot be used, as it exceeds the applicable glass thickness.
  • Do NOT mount the CO2 cartridge with wet hands. Keep the CO2 regulator and CO2 cartridge from being wet.
  • Before use, make sure that there are no deformation, accumulated dust, and any other abnormality at the mounting part of the cartridge and regulator.
  • Use only ADA genuine products for CO2 supply accessories connecting to this product.
  • Always use Check Valve or Cabochon Ruby (optional) with this product. The backflow of water may cause the breakage of the CO2 regulator and solenoid valve.
  • In case white frost appears on the surface of the CO2 cartridge during use, do NOT touch it with bare hands, and cover it with a cloth for handling as it becomes low temperature.
  • Before detaching the CO2 cartridge from the CO2 regulator, make sure that the CO2 is completely used up.
  • When disposing of the CO2 cartridge, make sure that the seal has been opened (there should be a hole) and dispose of it according to your local regulations.
  • Do NOT put a CO2 cartridge into the fire when in use, as well as before and after use. It may cause a blowout of the cartridge. Avoid places with high temperatures (above 40 degrees C) and direct sunlight etc. for using and storing this product.
  • The fine adjustment screen is for adjusting the CO2 injection volume. Use a valve, such as a Ball Valve, to turn the CO2 injection on or off. Over-tightening of the fine adjustment screw can cause the threads to wear prematurely and make the adjustment difficult.
  • Do NOT place a regulator attached to a bottle sideways or upside down. This may cause the regulator to break.
  • If the exterior of the regulator is twisted strongly, the fixing pin protective cover may come off. If it comes off, screw the fixing pin protective cover back and secure it.
  • There is no functional problem.

Features of CO₂ System74-DA

The 74-DA CO2 system is a fixed depressurization-based (0.3MPa) CO2 injection system. A Forest Bottle and a dedicated hook are included. Using the dedicated hook, it can be adapted for use with aquariums with a glass thickness of 4mm to 6mm. If placed on a 4mm thickness aquarium, please use the included silicon cushion to adjust the regulator’s angle, ensuring its level. Separately sold NA Control Timer and EL Valve (solenoid valve) may be connected to split the CO2 injection. Besides a spare CO2 Forest Bottle for replacement, a separately sold genuine CO2 Adapter can be used alongside it, adapting it to larger CO2 containers. *In this case, a dedicated hook cannot be used, as it exceeds the applicable glass thickness.

Names of Product Parts

CO2 Metal Hook mounting method

Insert the CO2 Metal Hook into the groove of the CO2 regulator and turn it clockwise to attach the CO2 Metal Hook to the CO2 regulator. To detach the CO2 Metal Hook from the CO2 regulator, pull the Metal Hook from the regulator while turning the CO2 Metal Hook counterclockwise.

Connection Diagram

  • The Joint Stick, which is connected to the CO2 outlet, can be removed by pressing on the Release Bush and pulling the Joint Stick out at the same time. Remove the Joint Stick when connecting Pressure Resistant Tube.
  • The Pressure-Resistant Tube and glass equipment cannot be connected. Go through branching parts (Ball valve etc.), and use the Joint Stick to connect to the silicone tube.
  • When installing a 4mm thickness glass aquarium, use the included Silicon cushion. Refer to the connection diagram for the attachment position.
  • Be sure to use Check Valve or Cabochon Ruby to prevent the water from flowing backward into the inside of the regulator.

Usage

  1. Make sure that the fine adjustment screw of the CO2 regulator is securely tightened before attaching the CO2 bottle to the regulator. At this time, the Fine adjustment setting screw should not be firmly tightened.
  2. Insert a CO2 bottle upward into the connector, holding the regulator vertically, and turn the CO2 bottle gently until it stops turning. Turn the CO2 bottle two more turns to tighten the connection completely.
  3. After attaching the CO2 bottle, place it on the Metal Hook, and ensure that the regulator and CO2 bottle are always standing.
  4. Turn the fine adjustment screw gradually with your fingers and make sure that CO2 is released from the CO2 outlet. (Listen for a hissing sound.) In case CO2 does not come out, check if CO2 bottle is completely screwed in.
  5. Tighten the fine adjustment screw temporarily to stop CO2 and connect the CO2 injection equipment, referring to the Connection Diagram as a guide. Then, adjust the proper injection volume by the fine adjustment screw. connect the CO2 injection tools. When setting the CO2 injection volume, tighten the fine adjustment setting screw gradually while making sure that the fine adjustment screw does not move.

Cautions

  • Be sure to use a CO2 Forest Bottle when replacing a CO2 bottle.
  • Use Pressure resistant tubing or a Joint Stick when connecting branch fitting (such as a Ball Valve or a Speed Controller.)
  • Remove Joint Stick from branch fitting when connecting Pressure Resistant Tube to it. Joint Stick can be removed easily by pressing on the Release Bush and pulling the Joint Stick out at the same time.
  • Do NOT place undue pressure on a speed controller when removing a Joint Stick from it. It may result in the breakage of the speed controller.
  • Pressure Resistant Tubes and glassware cannot be connected. Be sure to use a silicone tube for glassware.
  • Use a cutter knife to cut Pressure Resistant Tube at a right angle. A slanted end on the tubing can cause a CO2 leak.
  • Check Valve wears out with time. Replace it with a new one after roughly a year.
  • Additionally, damage on the valve in the interior of the Check Valve, or the attachment of unrelated waste can cause the water to flow backward, breaking the regulator.
  • Do NOT inject CO2 into the aquarium after the light is turned off. Doing so can cause fish, aquatic plants, and microorganisms to suffer from hypoxia.
  • Always turn the fine adjustment screw and setting screw by hand. The use of a screwdriver or wrench can result in damage.
