DANGER
- An LPG cylinder not connected for use should NOT be stored in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
- LPG cylinders should only be stored outside and in a cool, dry place.
- An LPG cylinder must be stored outdoors, should NOT be stored under or near the appliance, in reach of children, or in a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.
- NEVER leave an LPG cylin-der inside a vehicle which may become overheated by the sun. If the information above is not followed exactly, a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.
DANGER
NEVER fill an LPG cylinder beyond 80% full.
- An overfilled or improperly stored cylinder is a hazard due to possible gas release from the safety relief valve.
- This could cause intense fire with risk of property damage, serious injury or death.
- If you see, smell or hear gas escaping, immediately get away from the LPG cylinder and appliance and call fire department.
LPG CYLINDER REQUIREMENTS The LPG Tank used with your grill must meet the following requirements:
- Date tested by a LPG supplier with-in five years of use.
- Size: 18 x 12 in (45 x 30 cm), 20 lb (9 kg).
- Supply system must be arranged for vapor withdrawal.
- Tank must include collar to protect LPG Tank valve.
LPG TANK VALVE REQUIREMENTS LPG Tank valve must have:
- Type 1 valve outlet (thread on the outside).
- Safety relief valve.
- UL listed Overfill Protection Device (OPD). This OPD safety feature is identified by a unique triangular hand wheel.
Always keep new and exchanged LPG Tanks in upright position during use, transit or storage.
Section Two – CONNECTION & REMOVAL
Connection Part
REGULATOR SAFETY
If regulator fails in unit, it must be replaced with a approved model and must
only be replaced by a professionally licensed, authorized dealer. Failure to
comply will void the warranty.
CONNECTING THE REGULATOR TO THE LPG TANK
Leak test new and exchanged LPG tanks BEFORE connecting to gas grill. Please
reference the Leak Test Instructions section on page 9.
STEP 01 LPG tank must be properly secured to gas grill.
(Please reference the Assembly Guide chapter.)
Ensure that the control knobs are turned to OFF.
STEP 02 Ensure that the LPG tank is OFF by turning the OPD hand wheel clockwise to a full stop.
Remove the safety cap from the Type 1 valve outlet.
STEP 03 Hold the regulator in a straight line with the Type 1 valve
outlet so as not to cross thread the connection.
Center and insert the regulator nipple into the Type 1 valve outlet. Hand-
tighten the coupling nut in a clockwise direction.
WARNING
Keep the fuel supply hose away from any heated surface(s).
WARNING
Never attempt to attach this grill to the self- contained LPG system of a
camper trailer, RVs or motor home. Do not use the LPG Tank until it has been
leak-tested.
WARNING
The LPG supply cylinder must be disconnected when this appliance is not in
use.
WARNING
LPG is highly flammable and may ignite unexpectedly when mixed with air.
CAUTION
LPG is nontoxic, odor less and color-less when produced. For safety and easy
detection, LPG has been given an odor similar to rotten cabbage.
REMOVING THE LPG TANK FOR TRANSPORT/ STORAGE
-
STEP 01 Ensure that the control knobs are turned to OFF.
-
STEP 02 1 Ensure that the LPG tank is OFF by turning the OPD hand wheel clockwise to a full stop.
Turn the coupling nut counter clock-wise by hand to remove the regulator. (Do not use tools to disconnect.) -
STEP 03 Place the safety cap onto the Type 1 valve outlet.
Only use the type of safety cap on the cylinder valve outlet that is provided with the cylinder valve. (Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage of propane.)- A disconnected LPG tank in storage or during transportation must have a safety cap installed.
- Failure to use safety cap as directed may result in serious personal injury and/or prop erty damage.
FITTINGS & HOSES
- Annual checking and tightening of metal fittings is recommended.
- Before each use, check to see if hoses are abrasion, wear, cuts, leaks.
- Replace damaged hoses before using appliance.
FILLING & EXCHANGE
Use only those reputable exchange com-panies that inspect, precision fill,
test and certify their tanks. LPG dealer must purge new tank before filling.
Volume of propane in tank will vary by temperature. A frosty regulator
indicates gas overfill. Immediately close LPG Tank valve and call local LPG
gas dealer for assistance. Do not release liquid propane (LPG) gas into the
atmosphere.
To remove gas from LPG Tank, contact a certified LPG dealer or local fire
depart-ment for assistance. Exchange tank only for an OPD safety feature-
equipped tank.
DANGER
Do not insert any tool or foreign objects into the valve outlet or safety
relief valve. The valve may be damaged resulting in a leak. Leaking propane
may result in explosion, fire, severe personal injury, or death. If a leak is
detected at any time, STOP and call the fire department. If unable to stop a
gas leak, immediately close LPG tank valve and immediate-ly contact an LPG gas
supplier or fire department.
WARNING
Do not insert a POL trans port plug (plastic part with external threads) into
the Type 1 valve outlet. It will defeat the Safety relief valve feature.

Trouble Shooting
WHEN LIT I SMELL GAS.
Check hose and regulator is secure and perform the leak test.
BURNER WON’T LIGHT (USING 20LB. TANK WITH CONVERSION HOSE)
- Be sure LP bottle still has fuel in it by gently shaking it – there will be sounds of liquid inside if fuel remains.
- Check to see that the vent tube air inlet screen is not covered or clogged (see users manual).
- Ensure that LP tank supply valve is open (turned counterclockwise until stop)
- Ensure that the orifices at both ends of the conversion hose are not obstructed or damaged.
- Straighten sharp kinks in conversion hose
GRILL DOESN’T REACH HIGH ENOUGH TEMPERATURE (USING 20LB LP TANK WITH
CONVERSION HOSE)
Your LP tank has a safety device that is intended to reduce gas flow in the
event of a leak. When this device is active, it is commonly called “bypass”.
This device can be inadvertently activated by not following proper lighting
procedures.
Should you experience low flame, you should do the following
- Shut off grill
- Close tank valve fully
- Remove conversion hose to relieve pressure, then re-attach
Then, restart the grill (and start the grill each time) using the proper procedure:
- Ensure the grill fuel knob is turned to OFF
- Slowly open the gas tank valve fully. Turn tank knob about 1/4 turn every 10 seconds
- WAIT 5 SECONDS
- follow the grill lighting steps (printed on grill, and in owner’s manual)
GRILL LIGHTS BUT GOES OUT SOON AFTER STARTING.
Ensure that LP tank supply valve is open, be sure LP bottle still has fuel in
it by gently shaking it Ensure that there is no kink or twists in the gas
hose.
Make sure grill is out of the way of direct wind.
