SUNSYNK 2-LIGHTS Solar Powered Portable Lighting

INTRODUCTION

The Sensing 2-Light Kit and 4-Light Kit are portable lighting systems charged by a 5W solar panel, which is included in the kit. It comes in two versions with either two or four plug-ins LED light fittings, and this manual covers both models as since they have similar designs, apart from the 2-Light kit having one solar panel and the 4-Light kit having two.

LED STATUS

The 3 x Red LEDs indicate power status. 3 x LEDs – full Power / 2 x LEDs – two thirds power / 1 x LEDs – one third power. NO LEDs – no power then re-charge.

CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK

The 5W-Solar Panel can be connected via the DC-Jack, located on the rear of the battery pack. With the 4-Light Kit, there are two 5W panels, and these are connected via a built-in ‘Y’ connector.

• The user should ensure the panel is positioned to catch the maximum amount of sunlight and
• should be away from any overhanging structure or foliage.
• TIP – If in the northern hemisphere, face the panel south. If in the southern hemisphere, face
• the panel directly north.
• The system will still charge if switched OFF.
• Allow the panel to remain in the sun for at least 8 hours.

SAFETY

• Make sure the Light Kit is fully charged prior to use.
• The lithium-ion battery pack is rated below airline limits. The unit should be disconnected from the lamps and the solar panel(s) and carried in hand luggage only.
• When charging the Light Kit it is recommended that you use the provided Sensing connectors.
• The status LED array indicates a low battery. In order to avoid shortening battery life, ensure the device is fully charged so that all three lights are illuminated.
• Keep the Light Kit away from fire and avoid temperatures above 140°F (60°C) when not in use.
• Do not get the Light Kit wet or immerse it in water.
• Do not puncture or fracture the Light Kit so as to avoid electric shock or electrolyte leakage from the lithium-ion battery(s).
• Do not attempt to disassemble, modify, or fix the Light Kit.
• Do not use a damaged cable or power charger for the Light Kit.
• Please re-cycle this device at an appointed disposal location for lithium-ion batteries.

TROUBLESHOOTING

• For the device to function correctly, all of the LEDs should be illuminated.
• If any charger is placed inside the DC Input that does not match up correctly, the Light Kit will not charge.
• If too many appliances have been plugged into the Light Kit, it will cut out. In this case, remove the appliances and reduce the load (demand) on the battery pack.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.1: Can I take my Light Kits with me when I fly to another country?
A.1: Yes, you can. The Lithium-Ion battery pack is rated below airline limits. The unit should be disconnected from the lamps and the solar panel(s) and carried in hand luggage only.

Q.2: Can I take the Light Kits near water?
A.2: No. Do not get this product wet.

Q.3: Can I attach different sizes of solar panels to the Light Kits?
A.3: No. The battery pack is quite small, and you may only attach panels 10W and below.

Q.4: Do the Light Kits get hot?
A.4: The Light Kits do not get hot; however, they should not be placed in direct sunlight or near a hot engine or open fire.

LI-ION BATTERY WARNING

WARNING:
Take great care when handling the battery. Lithium-ion cells and battery packs may get hot, explode or ignite and cause serious injury if exposed to extreme conditions. Be sure to follow the safety warnings listed below:

• DO NOT connect the positive terminal and the negative terminal of the battery pack to each other with any metal object, such as a wire.
• DO NOT carry or store the battery together with necklaces, hairpins, or other metal objects.
• DO NOT pierce the battery with nails, strike the battery pack with a hammer, step on the battery, or otherwise subject it to strong impacts or shocks.
• DO NOT expose the battery to water or saltwater or allow the battery to get wet.
• DO NOT place the battery in or near flames, on stoves, or other high-temperature locations.
• DO NOT place the battery in direct sunlight or use and store the battery inside hot cars in hot weather.
• Doing this may cause the battery to heat, explode, or ignite. Using the battery in this manner may also result in a loss of performance and a shortened life expectancy.
• DO NOT disassemble or modify the battery. The battery contains safety and protection devices, which, if damaged, may cause the battery to generate heat, explode or ignite.
• Immediately discontinue the use of the battery if, while using, charging, or storing the battery, it emits an unusual smell, feels hot, changes color or shape, or appears abnormal in any other way.
• DO NOT place the battery in a microwave oven, high-pressure container, or induction cooker. If the battery leaks and the fluid gets into your eye, do not rub the eye. Rinse well with water and immediately seek medical care. If left untreated, the battery fluid could cause damage in the eye.
• If the unit or parts of this unit are being transported or freighted, seek advice on the correct protocol for handling and notification of the Li-ion batteries from your shipping agent.

MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Global Tech China Limited and Sensing Limited (from now on “the Company”) now warranty against manufacturing faults of the products for two years under the following terms and conditions:

The product must be purchased and installed within one of the following countries: The United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Hong Kong, and Australia. Products purchased and/or installed outside of these countries will not be covered by this warranty under any circumstances.

3. The product must be installed and commissioned in full compliance with the installation instructions provided with the product packages. The product must also meet the requirement of the Benchmark initiative (if applicable).

4. The warranty period will commence from the date of installation. However, if the installation is made after more than six months from the date on which the product was dispatched by the company, the warranty period will commence immediately after six months from the date of manufacture.

5. The product must be confined to domestic or light commercial use only. For this warranty, “light commercial use” is referred to as a semi domestic-commercial environment including but not limited to hair salons, small shops, pubs). Should confusion arise regarding the determination of “light commercial use” the decision on the determination of the company will be final.

6. The product must be well-maintained following the User Manual guidelines. Failure to maintain the product, poor servicing, or no servicing of the products might invalidate this warranty. Proof of service by competent servicing centers might be required to obtain warranty facilities.

7. During the warranty period, the product must not be serviced, repaired, or altered in by any third party. Any change, alteration, modification, or servicing whatsoever from anyone other than the company will invalidate the warranty with full effect.

8. Following the servicing, repairmen, or replacement, any parts or products removed from your product will be taken as owner by the company. You will not have any claim for such parts or products.

9. Warranty Limitations
   This warranty does not include:

10. Any condition resulting from other than ordinary residential wear or any use for which the product was not intended, such as use in rental or contract trade or commercial use;

11. Any condition resulting from incorrect or inadequate maintenance or car;

12. Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, theft, tempering, flood, explosion, lightning, storms, frost, shipping damage, adverse weather or any other similar event;

13. Dissatisfaction due to buyer’s remorse;

14. Normal wear and tear;

15. Damages incurred during transportation;

16. Damages incurred during assembly or maintenance (unless assembly or maintenance has been carried out by the company);

17. Any unauthorized adjustments made to the product by a third party;

18. The company makes no express warranty or condition, whether written or oral, and the company expressly disclaims all warranties and conditions not stated in this limited warranty. The company disclaims all implied warranties or conditions, including any implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

19. All warranty claims must be filed by the consumer to the retailer of this product, who in turn is to contact the manufacturer regarding any warranty return or replacement. The company will not handle claims from the consumer directly. Please retain invoices for obtaining warranty facilities.

20. All claims under this Warranty Statement must be made within the warranty period.

21. The decision of the company regarding any issue relating to this warranty statement is final.
