SETTINGS MENU

READY TO PLAY GOLF

POWERING ON/OFF:
To power ON/OFF the Phantom 3, press and hold the side button until the Bushnell Golf appears on the screen.

AUTO COURSE AND HOLE SELECT:

  • One Course Facility: Once the player has selected Play Golf the unit will acquire a GPS signal. If the player is on a facility with one course the unit will automatically select that course and start on Hole 1 unless the player in on a different Tee Box when starting the game. Then, the unit will navigate to the hole the player started the game.
  • Two + Course Facility: If the player is at a facility where multiple courses are available, the player will be prompted to select their course once GPS is acquired. The unit will automatically start on Hole 1 unless the player in on a different Tee Box when starting the game. Then, the unit will navigate to the hole the player started the game.
  • Select a Different Course: To select a different course, navigate to Settings/Course Select to manually select the correct course.
    • If the course name is long, tap the downward arrow next to the name to see the full course name for easy viewing.

PLAY GOLF SCREEN

SWIPE NAVIGATION

GREENVIEW

  • The Phantom 3’s GreenView Screen will allow you to move the pin on the green for more accurate pin placement. When in GreenView, tap the green to move the pin to its current position to get an accurate distance to the pin versus the centre distance.
  • If no information is entered while in GreenView within 15 seconds, the screen will revert to the Distance Screen.

DUAL GREEN
In cases when a hole has two greens, < and > will appear below the green in GreenView. If the incorrect green is selected, use the arrows on the bottom of the unit to choose the correct green. Press the side button to return to the Front/Center/Back screen.

SLOPE MODE TECHNOLOGY

Slope Switch technology lets the golfer easily turn Bushnell’s patented Slope function on and off. This technology allows the golfer to conveniently utilize Slope to get compensated distances around the course when they want it and have a USGA-conforming device that is legal for tournament play when they need it.

  • Indicates the unit is calibrated and displaying slope compensated distances.
  • Indicates the unit is not calibrated and is displaying non-slope compensated distances.
    • To display the Straight-Line Distance in Slope Mode, tap the Center Distance. The unit will display the Straight-Line Distance for 3 seconds, then return to Slope Compensated Distances.
    • Blinking Slope Icon – Still receiving slope-compensated distances but need to update calibration for more accurate distances.
    • Calibrate the unit by taking it to a Teebox or Green.

SHOT DISTANCE
In Shot Distance, tap Reset to save the current location and begin measuring the shot distance from that location. Tap Pause to freeze the shot distance, and tap again to resume shot distance measuring. Doing this will continue measuring the Shot Distance from the last position of the point of Reset.

SCORECARD

A Scorecard can be viewed from historical rounds (see next page) or the current game. To access the Scorecard, tap on the top left of the Front/Center/Back screen, where the hole and par is displayed. To see the Scorecard Summary while in a round, swipe up from the Scorecard. Tap on any of the four fields on the Scorecard Summary to populate the data for each hole in the scorecard. To cycle through each field in Scorecard, tap the left and right arrows on the bottom of the unit or swipe left or right. In an active round Scorecard, the player can edit a score by tapping on a hole and has the option of deleting a score by pressing and holding the score until the “trash can” appears.

SCREEN LOCK

To lock the screen while playing a round, press and hold the Power button from the Front/Center/Back screen until the Lock icon appears. Repeat the process to Unlock.

SCORE ENTRY

To access score entry, tap the top right of the Front/Center/Back screen, where the score is displayed. The Score for the last ten rounds will be kept in the device’s memory but can be synced to the Bushnell Golf Mobile App and saved. Connecting to the app provides an improved interface to view and edit Historical Scorecards.

SCORE PROMPT
Score Prompt can be activated from the Golf Settings Menu (see page 4). When Score Prompt is enabled, score entry will automatically appear when the unit auto-hole advances. Score Entry will stay on screen until the score is entered or exited by hitting the side button.

HISTORICAL SCORECARDS
The unit keeps up to ten most recent round scores. When the unit is synced with the Bushnell Golf Mobile App, the historical rounds will upload and be saved to the player’s account. This is indicated in the unit by the ( ). If rounds have not been uploaded an ( ) will be present. To delete a round, press and hold until the trash can appear. *NOTE: Scores can only be edited while in a game. Use the app to manage the scores on completed games.

COURSE UPDATES FOR PHANTOM 3
Your Phantom 3 is pre-loaded with data for over 38,000 courses located worldwide. It is ready to use right out of the box, with no need to download software or pay any membership fees.

  • To Update a single course file: Connect the Device to the Bushnell Golf Mobile App via Bluetooth.
  • Manual Course Update: Select Phantom 3 from your device List. Select Course Update. Follow the instructions on the Bushnell Golf Mobile App to search for your course and update your device. To Update multiple courses. Please visit the Bushnell Golf Update Manager at https://appsupport.bushnellgolf.com in Google Chrome and follow the instructions.
  • Auto Course Update: Ensure the device is connected to the Bushnell Golf Mobile App and the app is running. When starting a game on the device, the device will automatically communicate with the app to download the latest course file, if one is available.

CONNECTION

CONNECTING YOUR PHANTOM 3 TO YOUR MOBILE DEVICE & BUSHNELL GOLF APP
To connect your Phantom 3 to your phone and the Bushnell Golf Mobile app:

  • Download the Bushnell Golf mobile app at https://app.bushnellgolf.com/install or scan the QR code below.
  • If you are new to the app you will be asked to set up a device after registration, select Phantom 3. If you are a returning user to the app, select “See All” from the “My Devices Section”, click “Add Device”, and select Phantom 3.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to pair and connect your Phantom 3.

Note: After pairing, once powered up the Bluetooth on/off state will be the last set state.

USING

USING THE BUSHNELL GOLF MOBILE APP
The Bushnell Phantom 3 does not need to be connected to the Bushnell Golf Mobile App to operate. Using the app makes adjusting settings easier and the player can save games, stats and course information, update course files and Phantom 3 software. See the screenshots below for some of the features.

UPDATING SOFTWARE
To update the Phantom 3 software, click on Device Update on the Device Function screen in the Bushnell Golf Mobile app.

CLEANING AND GENERAL CARE

  • To remove dirt or fingerprints, clean with the supplied microfiber cloth rubbing in a circular motion.
  • The Phantom 3 is water-resistant but should not be exposed to heavy rain or other direct streams of water and will not withstand submersion in water or other liquids.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Never disassemble your GPS rangefinder. Irreparable damage can result from unauthorized service attempts and voiding the warranty.

If the unit does not turn on, the display does not illuminate:

GLOSSARY

  • BITE Magnetic Mount: The integrated BITE magnet on the back of your Phantom 3 allows you to easily mount your device to the cart bar.
  • IPX6: International waterproof rating.
  • Slope Compensation: Slope technology calculates the angle and the compensated range to provide an adjusted distance because of elevation changes. Its purpose is to ensure you are properly informed of the distance ahead so you can select the right club to get the proper trajectory to make it to the hole.
  • Straight Line Distance: This is the distance from you, or rather the device, to the target you’re seeking a distance from. It’s the primary form of distance that’s acquired with all tournament legal laser and GPS golf rangefinders.
  • USGA Rule 14-3: You’ll see this term a lot while in the market for golf rangefinders. It stands for the United States Golf Association. To be able to legally use rangefinders in tournaments, the device must comply with the USGA’s measuring device policy found in Rule 14-3. All Bushnell Golf rangefinders are legal for tournament play when SLOPE mode is disabled
