LISTED FOR WET LOCATION

DANGER

  • DO NOT connect this fixture to an electrical system that does not provide a means for equipment grounding. Never use a fixture in a two-wire system that is not grounded. Installing a fixture into an electrical system not having a proper grounding means could cause metal parts of the fixture to carry electrical currents if any of the fixture wires, wire connections, or splices were to become broken, cut, or loose during the mounting or normal operation of the fixture. Under this condition, anyone coming in contact with the fixture would be subject to electrical shock, which could cause serious injury or death.
  • DO NOT connect the bare or green insulation fixture ground wire to the black (hot) current-carrying wire or the white neutral house wire. Connection of the bare or green fixture ground wire to the black or white house wires may cause metal parts of the fixture to carry electrical currents. Under this condition, anyone coming in contact with the fixture will receive an electrical shock, which could cause serious injury or death.
  • DO NOT damage or cut the wire insulation (covering) during installation of the fixture. DO NOT permit wires to contact any surface having a sharp edge. To do so may damage or cut the wire insulation, which could cause serious injury or death from electrical shock.

WARNING

  • All electrical connections must be in agreement with local codes and ordinances, the National Electric Code (NEC), and ANSI/NFPA 70-1999. Contact your municipal building department to learn about your local codes, permits, and/or inspections. Risk of fire – most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated for 140°F. Consult a qualified electrician before installation.
  • To avoid personal injury, the use of gloves may be necessary while handling fixture parts with sharp edges.
  • DO NOT suspend any fixture by the house wires. A fixture must always be mounted directly to an outlet box. Wire connectors will not support the weight of a fixture. Suspending a fixture by the house wires and wire connectors will result in the fixture falling, with the possibility of personal injury and the danger of electrical shock or fire.
  • To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, each wire connector used with this fixture should accept only one 18-gauge wire from the light fixture and one 18-gauge wire from the outlet box. If there are three or more wires to connect or any of the wires is larger than 18 gauges, consult an electrician for the proper size wire connectors to use.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Turn off the circuit breakers and the wall switch to the supply line leads.

  • Attach the mounting bracket (A) to the outlet box (not included) using the mounting screws (RR). Note: Mounting screws should be parallel to the horizon. Then, loosen the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A) and wrap the bare wire from the fixture (D) around the ground screw. Tighten the ground screw to hold the bare wire in place.

Hardware Used

  • Mounting Screw

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, wire connectors provided with this fixture are designed to accept only one 12-gauge house wire and two lead wires from the fan. If your house wire is larger than 12-gauge and/or there is more than one house wire to connect to the two fixture lead wires, consult an electrician for the proper size wire connectors to use.
CAUTION: Be sure the outlet box is properly grounded or that a Ground (Green or Bare) wire is present.

  • Connect household supply and fixture wires according to the diagram and these steps:
  • Connect the bare wire from the fixture to the Bare/Green (ground) supply wire.
  • Connect the White wire from the fixture to the White (neutral) supply wire.
  • Connect the Black wires from the fixture to the Black (hot) supply wire.
  • Secure all wiring connections together with wire connectors (AA).

Note: The Black wire is hot power for the fixture. The White wire is neutral for the fixture. The Bare wire is the ground wire fixture. If household supply wires are different colors than those referred to above, it is recommended a professional electrician determines the proper wiring.

Hardware Used

  • Wire Connector

  • Wrap electrical tape (not included) around each wire connector down to the wire.

  • Turn the spliced/taped wires and gently push the wires and wire connectors into the outlet box.

  • WARNING: Ensure no bare wire or wire strands are visible after making connections. Place the Green and White wire connections on the opposite side of the outlet box from the Black wire connections.

  • Hang the fixture on the two mounting bracket screws (B) and secure it with screw caps (C).

  • Lift the finial cap (F) over the threaded rod at the bottom of the finial (E). Attach to the hole in the top of the fixture (D) by turning the finial (E) in a clockwise direction.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Remove the finial (E) and finial cap (F) to access controls for motion activation.
When power is first applied the light will initialize for 45 seconds and then will be in Test Mode. The Test Mode will last for 5 minutes. The motion sensor adjustment dials consist of two knobs to adjust the Sensitivity and delay Timer. During the Test Mode adjust the sensitivity to the desired distance. After 5 minutes in Test Mode, the sensor will enter Auto Mode. Once in Auto Mode the delay Timer can be set.allen-plus-roth-41997-Outdoor-Wall-Light-

At night, you may manually override the Auto Mode on the sensor to force the light to stay on until dawn. To toggle the operation between Manual and Auto Modes:

    • The sensor is more sensitive to motions across its detection path rather than the motions directly towards it. Walking with normal speed across the detection area to set the desired detection distance properly.
    • During the initial setup, the light will come on for 5 seconds every time motion is detected.
    • The sensitivity was set at a maximum of 40 ft. at the factory. By turning the knob counterclockwise, the detection distance can be decreased down to 5 ft.
    • The detection range covers approximately 120 degrees.
    • Clean the sensor lens with a soft cloth every 1 to 2 months to maintain sensitivity.
  2. Toggle the wall switch off and then on again within 2 seconds to change modes.
