Product Usage Instructions

  • Installation:
    • Install the power unit at least 5 feet (1.5m) from a pool or spa and at least 10 feet (3.05m) from a fountain.
    • Mount the power unit only on non-combustible materials.
    • Connect the power supply to a GFCI-protected receptacle with an In-use cover using the supplied power cord.
    • Mount the transformer outdoors if possible; if indoors, ensure compliance with local electrical codes.
    • Mount the power supply in a vertical orientation with the bottom plate at least 1 foot above the ground.
    • Avoid mounting in direct sunlight, especially in hot climates.
  • Maintenance:
    • Check connections after installation and ensure no insulation is placed under the terminal plate to prevent fire risk.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION

Low voltage installation and maintenance are safe and present no risk for electric shock injury. However, some regulations may apply and that should be followed by installers. The following safety points may or may not be included in these regulations – the installer is responsible for ensuring a compliant installation. These instructions do not intend to cover all variations in installation, operation maintenance or mounting situations.

  1. WARNING- RISK OF SHOCK. Install a power unit at least 5 feet (1.5m) from the pool or spa and at least 10 feet (3.05m) from a fountain.
  2. WARNING- install power unit in or on non-combustible materials only.
  3. The power supply must be connected (using a supplied power cord) to a protected receptacle with an In-use cover.
  4. All power supplies are indoor and outdoor rated, but we recommend that the transformer be mounted outdoors. If mounting indoors, check for local electrical codes that may apply.
  5. The power supply must be mounted in a vertical orientation with the bottom plate at least 1 foot above the ground.
  6. In hot climates, avoid mounting in direct sunlight. The power unit will get hot regardless of climate. This is normal for operation.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. Install a power unit 5 feet (1.5 m) or more from a pool, spa, or fountain. Where the power unit is installed (a) indoors within 10 feet (3.05 m) of a pool, spa, or fountain or (b) outdoors, connect the power unit to a receptacle protected by a GFCI.
WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. When used outdoors, install only a covered Class A GFCI-protected receptacle that is weatherproof with the power unit connected to the receptacle. If one is not provided, contact a qualified electrician for proper installation. Ensure that the power unit and cord do not interfere with completely closing the receptacle cover.
RISK OF FIRE: do not place insulation under the terminal plate. Check the connection after installation.

  1. Specific instructions for mounting, proper wiring, grounding, and servicing. Type and a minimum length of flexible cord or cable for connection to each secondary output circuit of the power supply. The supply circuit for the landscape lighting system shall be protected by a Class A type ground fault circuit interrupter unless it is provided with the landscape lighting system. A cord-connect landscape lighting system shall not be used with an extension cord.
  2. The main secondary wiring is intended for shallow burial – less than 6 inches (152 mm).
  3. An outdoor power unit shall be connected to a GFCI-protected hooded flush-type cover plate receptacle marked ″Wet Location″ while in use.
  4. FOR USE WITH LANDSCAPE LIGHTING SYSTEMS ONLY.
  5. THIS DEVICE IS ACCEPTED AS A COMPONENT OF A LANDSCAPE LIGHTING SYSTEM WHERE THE SUITABILITY OF THE COMBINATION SHALL BE DETERMINED BY CSA OR LOCAL INSPECTION AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION.
  6. DO NOT CONNECT TWO OR MORE POWER SUPPLIES IN PARALLEL.
  7. CAUTION: FOR USE ONLY ON A BRANCH CIRCUIT PROTECTED BY A CLASS A TYPE GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER.
  8. DO NOT MOUNT POWER SUPPLY OR LUMINAIRES WITHIN 3 METERS OF A SWIMMING POOL OR SPA.

PRODUCT DIMENSIONS

The transformer can be mounted to a wall or a stake. Please refer to the relative installation instructions.

  1. INSTALL TRANSFORMER TO WALL (OPTION A)
    • Determine your desired location for mounting the transformer.
    • Drill a hole onto the wall surface and insert the wall anchor. Thread the screw into the wall anchor leaving enough screw exposed to hang the transformer on.
    • Place the keyhole of the transformer onto the screw head.
    • Go to the Connect Wires to Transformer section to complete the rest installations.
  2. INSTALL TRANSFORMER TO STAKE (OPTION B)
    • Determine your desired location for mounting the transformer.
    • Hammer the stake into the ground until the flange of the stake is flush with to grade. To avoid damage to the stake, place a board on top of the stake while hammering.
    • Note: If the ground is hard and the stake is difficult to install, make a crosscut in the ground using a flat shovel.
  3. INSTALL TRANSFORMER AND RISER ON STAKE (OPTION B)
    • Thread the riser onto the stake and hand tighten until snug.
    • Thread the transformer onto the top end of the riser using the mounting bracket and hand tighten until snug.
    • Go to the Connect Wires to Transformer section to complete the rest installations.
    • CONNECT WIRES TO TRANSFORMER (A & B)

REMOVE COVER

Using the Allen wrench, remove the screws on the side of the cover. Carefully rotate the cover and remove it from the transformer.

WIRE CONNECTIONS

  1. Take out terminal blocks.
  2. Open the levers on the terminal blocks.
  3. Insert one side of the supply wire into the COM and the other into the 15V terminal block.
  4. Push the levers down to secure the wires.
  5. Insert terminal blocks in place.

INSTALL COVER

  • Place the cover back onto the transformer and secure it with previously removed screws. Hand tighten with the Allen wrench.
  • Plug the cord of the transformer into the nearest GFCI Outlet.

TIMER SETTING AND FUNCTIONS

  1. When you plug the wire into the socket and power it on, the “POWER” and “ON” indicators of the timer turn green and the timer is on standby.

  2. Select a timer mode using the “SET” button. The indicator will scroll through timer modes according to the following sequences:
    OFF—>DUSK-DAWN—>ON—>2Hrs—>4Hrs—>8Hrs—>OFF—>……

  3. The selected timer mode will be saved and remembered for the future when powered off and powered on.

  4. In “ON” mode, the transformer will always be on. Then the indicator of the loaded power will be shown on the “LOAD” Meter. (There are four green indicators on the “LOAD” meter and each indicates 25% of the total transformer power. The loaded power will be shown according to the number of green indicators shown on the “LOAD” meter. )

  5. In “OFF” mode, the transformer power will always be off.

  6. In “2Hrs”/“4Hrs”/“8Hrs” mode, the transformer will be controlled by ambient light and selected time. When the ambient light becomes dark and drops below the designed LUX value, the transformer will power on. After the selected time reaches or ambient light becomes bright to the designed LUX value, the transformer will turn off.

  7. In “DUSK-DAWN” mode, the transformer will be controlled by ambient light. When the ambient light becomes dark and drops below the designed LUX value, the transformer will power on. Once the ambient light becomes brighter then the designed LUX value, the transformer will turn off.

  8. When the transformer is overloaded, the red indicator on the right of “LOAD” will turn on. Then the transformer will turn off automatically. The indicators on “POWER” and on the previous set mode both turn green and the “OFF” turns red. After troubleshooting, press the “RESET” button. Then the “OFF” indicator will turn red and the “POWER” indicator will turn green. You can start from step 2 to operate the timer and transformer.
