Hardware/mounting brackets
Installation
- On the factory bumper remove the 2x factory Torx bolts that hold the lower grill plastics to the bumper bracket and remove the 10mm bolts that mount the lower portion of the radiator support to the bumper bracket as well.
- Remove the 4x 18mm factory control arm nuts that mount the bumper itself and then remove the bumper from the vehicle, install the supplied gusset plate onto the stud paying attention to the offset of the plate facing the rear of the vehicle when installing.
- Separate the inner structure from the outer bumper by removing the hardware with arrows pointing to them with a 5/32” hex tool and set the outer bumper aside for now.
- A winch can be installed to the inner structure with the wiring exiting out either side to accommodate for different setups, if one is being used then install it now with the included doubler plates as shown paying attention to how the rope exits the spool of the winch making sure it is a straight line to the fairlead opening on the outer bumper then torque down to the manufacturer’s specification. Pull out a couple of feet of rope from the winch to make feeding the rope through the outer bumper easier.
- While lifting on the radiator and front plastics slightly, Slide the inner structure onto the control arm studs and tighten down with factory hardware when it is centred and level with the vehicle. Once completed go ahead and install and tighten the lower radiator hardware removed earlier and the supplied front plastic hardware.
- Next install the fairlead to the outer bumper and torque down, if any lights are being mounted now is a good time to install them, also with so many types and sizes of lights available pay attention to make sure there is no interference with the grill or plastics of the vehicle upon assembly.
- Holding the outer bumper feed the winch rope through the fairlead opening and carefully position it over the inner structure lining up the holes for the hardware remover earlier. Loosely install 2x hex bolts into the lower outer holes next to the fairlead first then install the remaining bolts, once all hardware is installed torque everything down working from the center out.
- Attach the hook to the winch rope and run it in to get rid of the slack created earlier. Perform a final checkover of all the work completed and enjoy another great product from Elektric Offroad Designs!
