Connection
Charge the unit
- Lift the jack cover on the side of the unit.
- Insert the USB Type-C charging cable (not included) into the unit USB Type-C port 2.
- Plug the other end of the cable into USB charging device (not included). We recommend charging the unit for at least 4 hours to ensure it is fully charged.
- The speaker will light in red and slowly flash while the unit is charging. The light will be off once the unit is fully charged.
- NOTE: Please charge the unit when you see the light on the speaker flashing red.
Energy Saving Mode (Auto Power System-APS)
The unit will automatically switch off after 30 minutes in the following situations:
- There is no singing into the microphone;
- The Bluetooth music has been stopped.
The unit can be switched on again by pressing and holding the (POWER) button. APS is for energy-saving purposes.
Connecting to AUX IN Jack
- Lift the jack cover on the side of the unit.
- Connect an external device by using an appropriate cable (3.5mm audio cable not included) as shown. When plugged into the Aux in jack, it will automatically switch to Aux in mode.
- WARNING: To avoid excessive over-amplified sound output, it is recommended that the volume control is initially adjusted to low and then increased if required.
Lights Mode
- Press the / (LIGHT/BROADCAST) 1 button repeatedly to select mode as follows:
- Light Mode 1: The speaker will light up with changing light colours. When there is music playback or singing, the lighting will flash with the audio signal.
- Light Mode 2: The speaker will light up with color-changing lights continuously.
- Light Mode 3: The light will be turned off.
- NOTE: Light mode only works in Bluetooth and Aux-in modes.
Operation
Using a Bluetooth Device
- Press the (POWER) button to turn the unit on.
- The unit automatically searches for and pairs a previously paired Bluetooth device (if previously paired). If no previously paired devices are present, connect as shown in the next step.
- Press the (POWER) button to enter the Bluetooth mode; the speaker light will flash blue.
- Turn on your device’s Bluetooth option in settings to search for a discoverable device with a Bluetooth signal. Select “SMC BLING MICROPHONE” from the device results on the Bluetooth menu.
- NOTES:
- If your Bluetooth device prompts you for a passcode during the pairing process, please enter “0000” to connect. If pairing fails, repeat the steps. If you have paired before, a list of previously searched results will be displayed.
- Select “SMC BLING MICROPHONE” again. On some Bluetooth devices (i.e., computers), once pairing is complete, you must select your Bluetooth device as “Use as Audio Device” or similar.
- To avoid excessive over-amplified sound output, it is recommended that the volume control is initially adjusted to low and then increased if required.
- Press and hold the (BLUETOOTH) button to disconnect any paired device to pair another device.
- Press the (BLUETOOTH) button during playback to pause the song. Press again to resume.
- Adjust the microphone volume by pressing the VOL + or VOL – button.
- Press the (VOICE EFFECTS/ TALK) button, the speaker light will change. The voice will change when the singer starts to sing through the microphone. Light – ECHO Red light – FEMALE Cyan light – MALE Purple light – CHIPMUNK Blue light – ROBOT Lime light – Warble Select white (NONE) to sing without any voice effect.
- Press and hold the (LIGHT/ BROADCAST) button to initiate the Broadcast mode, you can share your bluetooth music with anybody who has SMM518 in Broadcast mode within 40 feet. Press and hold the (LIGHT/ BROADCAST) button again to leave Broadcast mode.
- NOTES:
- If you disconnect your Bluetooth device when entering the broadcast mode, you will be the recipient.
- You can only share the bluetooth music within your singing.
- Press and hold the (POWER) button to turn off the unit.
Using the AUX IN Jack
- Press the (POWER) button to turn the unit on.
- This unit can connect your favourite audio device (e.g. iPhone/ Tablet/MP3 player, etc.). You can connect your device with a 3.5mm audio cable (cable not included). AUX IN function is automatically selected once the audio cable is plugged in.
- NOTE: It is highly recommended to set the volume on the auxiliary unit to 1/3 or lower to avoid distortion.
- Adjust the microphone volume by pressing the VOL + or VOL – button.
- Press the (VOICE EFFECTS/ TALK) button the speaker light will change. The voice will change when the singer starts to sing through the microphone. Light – ECHO Red light – FEMALE Cyan light – MALE Purple light – CHIPMUNKBlue light – ROBOT Lime light – Warble Select white (NONE) to sing without any voice effect.

Using Walkie Talkie
- Press the (POWER) button to turn the unit on.
- Press the (POWER) button to switch to the walkie-talkie mode; the light will flash green.
- Press and hold the (VOICE EFFECTS/TALK) button until the light turns purple from green. You can now talk to anybody who has SMM518 in walkie-talkie mode within 40 feet.
- NOTE: There is no voice effect during walkie-talkie mode.
Troubleshooting Guide
Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service:
- No Power
- Power is not on; press the (POWER) button to turn the power on.
- Confirm that the unit is charged.
- The normal function of the product may be disturbed by strong electromagnetic interference. If so, simply restart the product to resume normal operation by following the instruction manual.
- In the event the function does not resume, please use the machine in another part of the home.
- No Sound – General
- Music Volume is set to a minimum; raise the volume of your Bluetooth music device with its volume control.
- The microphone volume is set to a minimum; raise the microphone volume by pressing the VOL + button up.
- Make sure the microphone is turned on.
- The correct mode is not selected; press the (POWER) button to change Bluetooth mode.
- A cable is connected to the AUX IN jack. When a cable is connected, the Aux function is activated automatically. Unplug the cable to switch back Bluetooth.
- Bluetooth reception failure
- Put the external Bluetooth device close to the unit.
- Pair the unit with the Bluetooth Device as per the procedures stated in this manual.
- The system is not in pairing mode; press and hold the (BLUETOOTH) button to restart pairing.
- Ensure any other Bluetooth devices are turned off to avoid accidental pairing.
- The Music is not available on the unit after successfully connecting the Bluetooth
- Ensure your Bluetooth device can support the A2DP Bluetooth profile.
- The volume on the external Bluetooth device is set too low or muted; raise it as desired.
- Make sure your music application is open.
