USING THE PRESSURE COOKER
Before First Use
- Remove all packaging materials.
- Take out all accessories from the inner pot.
- Wash, rinse and thoroughly dry the lid, the inner pot and all accessories.
- Select a level, dry benchtop with sufficient air space for ventilation, and avoid placing the pressure cooker directly under cupboards to prevent damage from steam and heat.
Essential Safety Instructions
INNER POT
- Always ensure proper liquid/ food level in the removable inner pot.
- “FULL” level – do not exceed the maximum fill level.
- “1/5” level – make sure the inner pot is filled to at least the minimum (1/5) fill level to ensure proper operation. SAFETY CHECK
- Make sure the steam release valve is clean and not blocked.
- Make sure the inner pot is in proper contact with the heating element.
LID
- Check the lid seal – make sure it’s properly assembled around the edge of the underside of the lid.
- The lid should close and lock into place with ease and minimal effort. DO NOT STRAIN OR FORCE THE LID TO CLOSE.
- Always ensure the safety locking pin is properly aligned and is not restricted in any way.
Control Panel
Operation
Once the appliance is assembled properly, you are ready to begin cooking.
-
To remove the cover (lid), grasp the handle, turn clockwise and lift (see figure 1 and 2).
-
Remove the cooking pot from the appliance and add food and liquids as the recipe directs.
Note: The total volume of food and liquid must not exceed 4/5 of the capacity of the cooking pot (figure 3). For foods such as dried vegetables and beans, or rice and grains, the total volume must not exceed 3/5 capacity (figure 4). Always use at least 1/2 cup liquid when pressure cooking. The total volume of food and liquid must not be less than 1/5 of the capacity of the cooking pot (figure 5). For rice cooking, the proportion of rice and water is 1.5:1; for porridge 8:1. You may adjust the proportion according to your own preference and cooking experience. -
Remove any water or food residue before placing the cooking pot back into the external pot. Ensure the inner pot is settled firmly on the heating plate (figure 6).
-
Close the lid.
• Remove any food residue from the upper rim of the cooking pot to ensure a proper seal. Ensure the sealing ring is securely in place.
• Lower the lid and rotate it anti-clockwise until it clicks into position (figure 7 and 8). DO NOT STRAIN OR FORCE THE LID TO CLOSE. -
Turn the steam release valve to the AIRTIGHT (sealed) position.
Note: The steam release valve does not click or lock into place. You will always be able to turn it 360 degrees at any time. Even though it will have a loose fit, it is safely secured. The lid will become locked onto the main body of the unit during the pressure-building process. -
To turn the unit on: Plug the power cord into the pressure cooker
and then into the wall outlet. There will be a “BEEP” sound and the
time display on the control panel will show “—-”, the unit is now in
“standby” mode. -
Choose your desired cooking function.
Note: When pressure increases inside the pot, the float valve will rise, securely locking the lid. Do not attempt to force-open the pressure cooker. *During cooking, if the steam release valve is not placed properly, it will automatically release some air. Ensure proper positioning of the valve to prevent this issue. -
When enough pressure has built inside the unit, the pressure cooker will begin its cooking process. This may take approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the quantity of food you are cooking. The cooking timer only starts once the desired pressure has been reached.
-
When the pressure-cooking cycle has finished, the unit will automatically switch to the Keep Warm mode.
- After entering the Keep Warm mode: if you do not want to continue this mode, you can press the Warm/Cancel button or unplug the power supply. For safety reasons, after 24 hours of continuous Keep Warm mode, the unit will automatically enter standby mode.
Steam Release
There are two methods to release steam from a pressure cooker: a
Natural release or a Quick release. Some recipes may call for either one.
The most commonly used release method is Quick release.
Natural release: Once Cancel has been pressed, the pressure will slowly
release itself.
There are two methods for Quick release:
(1) Once Cancel has been pressed, turn the exhaust valve (steam release valve)
to the EXHAUST (release) position to release manually at a faster pace.
(2) Once Cancel has been pressed, keep pressing the red exhaust button on the
handle, the unit will continue to exhaust until the pressure in the pot is
completely discharged.
When enough pressure has been released, the float will drop and the cover
(lid) will be unlocked from the main body of the unit. Only when the pressure
has been released, you can safely unplug the unit and take out the food.
Do not force the cover (lid) to open before the float valve is completely
lowered.
Note: While cooking liquids such as porridge or soups, the unit must be cooled
down before you release the pressure.
