Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started

  1. Charging the Device: Connect the device to a power source using the provided USB-C charging cable. Monitor the LED indicators to determine the battery level.
  2. Attaching to Your Helmet:
  3. Remove existing ear pads from the helmet.
  4. Insert the pad clip into the socket on one side of the helmet.
  5. Place the cable behind the helmet size adjustment system.
  6. Clip the second pad into place.
  7. Thread the helmet straps through the fabric loop on each ear pad.
  8. Buttons and Functions: Familiarize yourself with the three headset buttons for controlling various functions.

Powering On/Off
To power on or off the headset, press and hold button R2 for 3 seconds. A welcome note will indicate successful activation or deactivation.

Bluetooth Connection

  1. For optimal functionality, download and use the companion app for advanced features.
  2. To pair via Bluetooth, press and hold button R2 for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.
  3. Complete pairing on your phone and grant necessary permissions.

Connecting the App
To access all features, install the companion app on your Android or iOS device. Follow in-app instructions for setup.

OTA Firmware Update
The headset supports over-the-air firmware updates via the companion app. Check for updates within the app and follow on-screen instructions for a seamless update process.

OVERVIEW

  • The Obex Connect Headset supports your safety on the mountain by allowing you to communicate more easily with your fellow riders. Integrated into earpads that will fit any helmet in the POC Obex family, the Obex Connect Headset allows you to stay connected with your smartphone and with other riders in your group.
  • The headset makes it easy to talk to your fellow riders and use numerous features on your phone. Continue reading to find out how to get the most from your new headset.

TO ATTACH TO YOUR HELMET

  1. Remove existing ear pads, if attached.
  2. With helmet straps hanging outside of the helmet, insert the pad clip into the socket on one side of the helmet.
  3. Place the cable behind the helmet size adjustment system.
  4. Clip the second pad into place.
  5. Thread the helmet straps through the fabric loop on each ear pad.

CHARGING THE DEVICE
Charge the device via the USB-C port on the bottom-left side of the unit. While charging, the LEDs light up in the following way to indicate the charge level.

BUTTONS AND FUNCTIONS
All functionality of the Obex Connect Headset can be controlled using the three headset buttons, as indicated below.

POWERING ON/OFF
You are now ready to start using the device. To turn the headset on or off, hold button R2 for 3 seconds. The headset will play a welcome note.

BLUETOOTH CONNECTION

  • For the best experience and full functionality, we recommend using the app. However, the Obex Connect Headset can also be connected via Bluetooth for basic functionality like playing music and making phone calls.
  • To enter pairing mode, hold button R2 for 5 seconds.
  • The LED indicator will chime and blink blue to indicate pairing mode is active.
  • Complete pairing on your phone and allow contact access.
  • After the initial pairing, the Obex Connect Headset will auto-reconnect to the last connected phone.

CONNECT THE APP
To use all the features of the Obex Connect Headset it is necessary to install the companion app on your phone. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. To connect the headset to your phone, first install the app then follow the instructions within the app to complete the process.

OTA FIRMWARE UPDATE

  • The Obex Connect Headset can receive updates and feature improvements over the air (OTA) via the related app. There is no need for any cables or additional docks or devices in order to carry out any updates.
  • Check the app to see if you need an update. You will see an alert on the main dashboard if your headset requires one.
  • To complete firmware updates, simply follow the steps in the app. Ensure your headset has at least 50% battery remaining before you start the update and don’t turn off the headset during the process. The app will indicate the progress status.

PHONE CALLS
All standard call functionality is possible via the Obex Connect Headset.

  • RECEIVING CALLS

    • To answer an incoming call, single-click the R1 button.
    • To reject an incoming call, double-click the R1 button.
  • MAKING CALLS
    Your phone’s voice assistant can be used via the headset to initiate phone calls. To activate your phone’s voice assistant, press and hold button R1 for 2 seconds. You can also start a call using your handset.

  • ENDING CALLS
    You can end an active call with a single click of the R1 button.

CALL VOLUME CONTROLS
During an active call you can increase or decrease the volume of your connected device.

  • Increase:
    Single-click + hold R1 button.

  • Decrease:
    Double-click + hold R1 button.

VOICE ASSISTANT
If your voice assistant is enabled on your phone, you can activate it by holding button R1 for 2 seconds.

AUTO-ANSWER & SETTINGS
You can configure your phone call preferences in the app: an array of auto- accept/auto-reject options are available. Tap on the settings icon on the top right of the app and choose the ‘Phone Call’ Menu.

MUSIC & AUDIO
Choose an audio app and launch it on your phone. You can control your favourite music or audio apps using the device, provided the app supports AVRCP. Most apps do support AVRCP: refer to the online information of your specific music/audio player to check for support.

EQ CONTROLS FOR MUSIC
In the menu you can access the audio presets that allow you to choose EQ setting: voice, music or bass boost.

DYNAMIC VOLUME CONTROL
By turning on the Dynamic Volume Control, it’s possible to set a higher volume at higher speeds, in order to counter extra wind noise.

ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE CANCELLATION (ENC)
The wind noise filter on the microphone improves the quality of voice conversations. Wind noise is suppressed in the microphone path, making it easier for others to hear your voice. This filter is always active: you do not have to change any settings.

PLAY/PAUSE, NEXT & PREV CONTROLS

  • Play/pause music:
    Single-click button R1.

  • Next track:
    Double-click button R1.

  • Previous track:
    Triple-click button R1.

MUSIC VOLUME CONTROLS
While listening to music, you can increase or decrease the device volume as follows:

  • Increase:
    Single-click + hold button R1.

  • Decrease:
    Double-click + hold button R1.

INTERCOM USAGE

MESH CONNECTION

Use the Mesh Connection to create a flexible intercom network for up to eight Obex Connect Headsets. Each rider can freely go out and come back into the group call. The upper range of the Mesh Connection can vary from 100m–1km dependent on conditions.

  • MESH FEATURES PUBLIC MODE
    The default setting for each Obex Connect Headset is Public Mode, which allows each device to join the intercom network automatically.

  • PRIVATE MODE
    Private mode allows private groups to be created or joined.

  • GROUPS
    The maximum number of users in a group is eight. Any group member can invite new members to join. A member can freely choose to leave the group.

  • CLUSTERING
    While connected to a Mesh call, users who are within range of each other, but out of range of others in the same group, will be able to talk to each other.

  • MESH CONNECTION VOLUME CONTROL

    • Increase:
      Single-click + hold button L1.

    • Decrease:
      Double-click + hold button L1.

  • MESH CALL
    To start a call, press and hold button L1 for 2 seconds. Once call is active, you can mute/unmute the call with a double click of button L1. You can also mute/unmute your mic by single-clicking button L1.

  • TO CREATE A PRIVATE GROUP

    • The app must be used for the creation and management of private groups.
    • Tap on (+ New group), you will then be taken through the steps to create the private group. Once set up, you will have an option to invite others to join via QR code.
  • MERGING ACTIVE PHONE CALL WITH ONGOING MESH CALL

    • While on a Mesh call, if you receive an incoming phone call and answer it, you will be automatically disconnected from the Mesh call. The phone call remains private and you will be automatically placed back in the Mesh call once you terminate the phone call.
    • If you wish to merge the Mesh call with the phone call, single-click button L1.
    • To unmerge the call, single-click button L1 again.
BASIC CONNECTION

The Basic Connection uses Bluetooth to connect two Obex Connect Headsets to each other. It is not possible to connect more than two users when using this mode.The maximum range in ideal conditions is 20m.

PAIRING VIA APP
On the app’s dashboard, tap on Basic Connection. The device will start to search for others in range. The person you wish to connect to must also have their phone in Basic Connection pairing mode via the app. The app will display all the users who are in range and are available for pairing. You can select the user you want to connect to and initiate the pairing process. Once paired, the call will start automatically. You can repeat this process and add more people to your device. They will show up as a list on the app. You can now choose five of them out of this list for the speed-dial feature to make it easier to connect while riding.

FACTORY RESET
To reset the device back to factory settings hold buttons R1+R2 for 6 seconds. LED will flash white and red three times.

REBOOT
Single-click buttons R1+R2+L1.
