Warnings

  • These patient cables are for single patient use only. They should never be reused on a different patient due to risk of cross-infection.
  • To avoid patient injury, assure that leadset is not positioned where leads could become entangled around patient, or cause choking, strangulation, or inhibit circulation in  extremities.
  • Protect the patient cable trunk connector, ECG lead connectors, and SpO2 sensor from becoming soaked with any liquid.

Patient Application

Visually inspect the ECG leadset (and SpO2 sensor/cable when present) before applying the patient cable to a patient.

  • If any signs of damage or deterioration are seen, immediately discard the patient cable following approved medical waste disposal methods specified by local regulations  or your patient care facility.
  • If no visual damage is seen, apply the ECG leads to the patient following standard AAMI or IEC practices (refer to the IntelliVue MX40 Instructions for Use).
  • If the patient cable includes a SpO2 sensor, follow the sensor application instructions supplied in the IntelliVue MX40 Instructions for Use. If the SpO2 sensor is not  being used, be sure to securely store the sensor inside the telemetry pouch.
  • Recommended SpO2 sensor application site is any finger except the thumb.

Additional Information

For more detailed information describing patient cable use with the MX40, including warnings, patient safety, and ECG/SpO2 patient application instructions, refer to the  IntelliVue MX40 Instructions for Use.
