Configuring a VRS Rover in Trimble Survey Controller Guide

  1. These guidelines are specific to the Samsung Sync phone. However, the general procedures should be the same with any Bluetooth phone that supports Dial Up Networking
  2. The commands listed are for ATT/Cingular in Louisiana and will vary from provider to provider and state to state.
  3. These instructions refer to screens in Survey Controller as they appear in v.12.10. There may be differences depending on the version you are running.
Set up an Internet Connection with the Samsung Sync
  1. Exit Survey Controller to the Windows Mobile main screen

  2. Select Start, then Settings; pick the Connections tab at the bottom; pick Connections; pick Manage Existing Connections under My ISP

  3. Pick New…; enter a name for the connection (e.g. Cingular GPRS); under Select a modem: choose Bluetooth. This will bring up the My Connections Bluetooth Device Manager.

  4. On the phone – go into Settings, Bluetooth; make sure that Bluetooth is turned on and that the phone is visible (discoverable) to other devices.

  5. On the TSC2, select New Partnership. The data collector should search and should find the phone. Select the phone and pick Next. The TSC2 will ask you for a passkey to use with the phone; the phone will also prompt you for a passkey. Enter a 4-digit number into each device (we generally use 1234 at NEI). Thedata collector should ask you what services you wish to use from the phone; you should see Serial Port and Dial-Up Networking with a Sync; possibly other choices with other devices. Check the box for Dial-Up Networking  (ONLY)and hit Finish. You will be returned to the Bluetooth screen; select the phone and pick Next.

  6. You will be prompted for the phone number. Enter *99# and hit Next (a list of which symbols correspond to which function keys is at the end of this document).

  7. All entries shown are case sensitive and must be entered EXACTLY as shown.
