To enjoy Whole-Home DVR service, you’ll need an HD DVR for one of your TVs and HD-capable receivers for your other TVs. These receivers must be properly connected by a professional technician. Follow the steps below to check if you have everything you need:

Step 1

Go to your HD DVR and press the  MENU  button on your remote control.

Step 3

You’ll see a model number for your receiver. An HD DVR will have a model number starting with HR21 or higher. An HD receiver will have a model number H21 or higher. Another indication that your receiver is Whole-Home capable is whether or not you see Whole-Home as a menu option.

If your DIRECTV system includes the required receivers, you may already be set up for Whole-Home DVR service. If this is the case, you just need to activate Advanced Receiver Service. To confirm your setup and activate, sign in to directv.com and go to the My Equipment tab.
