Low frames-per-second (FPS) rates, or simply frame rates in games are usually caused by computer hardware not being able to meet a game’s system requirements at a given setting. Often, if a device’s hardware and a game’s requirements are too far apart, a game will simply refuse to load.
Review your game’s requirements and run them up against your Razer Blade’s specifications. If your device’s hardware is below the recommended system requirements, low FPS is considered normal. To abate this, you may try lowering your game’s graphics settings until you achieve a playable frame rate.
Also, make sure that your device is plugged in and your power mode is set to “Best Performance”. Playing games with your device running on battery power activates the “Battery Saver” mode that will limit device performance in favor of lower battery consumption.
If you are certain that your Razer Blade’s hardware is equal to or better than the game’s requirements, or that your device is plugged in, do the following:
-
Ensure that you are running on the latest version of Windows. To do that, click the Start button, go to “Settings” > “Update & Security” > “Windows Update”, then select “Check for Updates”. For more information, visit Microsoft Support.
-
Update your graphics drivers. Razer Blades (except for Razer Blade Stealth models) have both integrated Intel Graphics and dedicated Nvidia Graphics equipped. You may consult your product manual for more information.
If updating the drivers does not resolve the issue, follow the steps outlined below:
-
Go to NVIDIA Control Panel by right-clicking your desktop screen and selecting “NVIDIA Control Panel”.
-
Open “Manage 3D Settings” found on the left-hand side of the control panel. Under “Global Settings” select “High-performance NVIDIA processor” as the Preferred Graphics Processor. Click “Apply” to save your settings.
-
Run the game or program where you experienced the issue and see if the frame rate issue has been resolved.
-
If the steps above did not resolve the issue, consider performing a system recovery or factory reset.
