No Signal / Tuner Has Not Been Setup / Channel Scan / Find Channels

If you getting an error that says No Signal, Tuner has not been setup, or No Channels in Master list, try the following steps.

  1. Make sure your source device is powered on.
  2. Make sure the cord is securely connected to your TV and Device.
    • Cords may come loose for various reasons. It’s always good to make sure the ends are securely connected to both the TV and the device before pursuing more advanced troubleshooting.
  3. Make sure the TV is on the correct input.
    • Each port on the back of the TV will have a lable. Typically it will say TV, Comp, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc. Take a peak- and note what the name of the port your device is connected to is.
    • Now, grab your VIZIO remote and press the  Input  key. This key is usually located in the top left or right corner of your remote.
    • Continue pressing the input key until the TV has selected the option your port is connected to. Then press the  OK  key on the remote.
    • For most VIZIO models you can tell the Input that is selected because it will be the input listed slightly brighter, and appear as the first option on the left side of your screen.
  4. If you are connected with a ‘Coaxial Cable’ you may now see a message asking you to run a channel scan.
    • For newer TV’s the message will read “Tuner has not been setup, press the OK key to begin searching for channels”. If you see this message simply press the OK key on your remote to begin your channel scan.
    • On other models you’ll need to press the  Menu  key on your VIZIO remote and choose the option labeled  Channels, or  Tuner  (the name may vary depending on your TV)
    • Now, choose the options that says  Find Channels , or  Auto Channel Scan.
    • The TV will now show a progress bar, and let you know that its searching for available channels. Once the process completes, you should be able to see content.

If you don’t see your input listed when you press the Input button, here are a few tips.

  1. Your input may have been renamed.
    • Some devices will work with the TV to rename the input. Instead of saying HDMI 1 you may see the name of your device (like Xbox, PlayStation, or Satellite). If this is the case- simply select that input.
  2. You input may have been accidentally hidden.
    • On newer VIZIO Models press the  menu key on your remote. Choose  System , and then choose  Hide Input From List.
    • You’ll now a see a list of inputs- make sure that each input says  Visible.
    • On some models press the menu key on your remote. Then choose Input Settings.
    • You’ll see a list of all of the TV’s input. Highlight the input you’re trying to connect to and press  OK.
    • You’ll see a new list of options. Highlight  Hide from Input List , and make sure it is set to  Visible.
