Instructions Manual

DIRECTIONS:

The Biosafe Valve is a device for infusion and withdrawal of liquid without the use of needle.

The valve is compatible with the following medical devices equipped with Male luer connection: Administration sets, Extension sets, Syringes/Prefilled syringes, Central venous catheters, Manifolds, Stopcocks.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

1.  Open the package by the opening point, remove the protective cap (Fig.1).
2.  Connect the female luer of a catheter or of an extension line to the male Biosafe connector (Fig. 2).
3.  Clean the silicon seal on top of the female Biosafe Luer Lock for safety reasons. During this operation pay attention to not contaminate the device.
4.  Connect the male luer lock of an infusion device or syringe to the Biosafe. Press and then turn the device until it is fixed. Don’t use needles.
5.  To disconnect, turn the infusion system or syringe in the reverse direction until it is disconnected, do not remove Biosafe valve from the catheter of patient or from infusion system (Fig. 3).
6.  Disinfect with a non-alcoholic solution the Biosafe valve after each use for a better aseptic technique.
   Biosafe is a closed system and does not need protection caps.
   Device Sterile and Apyrogen.

WARNINGS:

• Use an aseptic technique.
• Do not use with needles.
• Do not use if the packaging is damaged.
• Sterility is guaranteed only if packaging is undamaged.
• Disposable device for single use.  Dismantle after use. Do not reuse the device because it loses its sterility. In case of reuse the risk is contamination of the device which can infect the patient, causing sickness or even death.

ARIES underlines the importance of a proper use of the device according to the instructions for use and only for authorized medical personnel, in order to avoid injury to the patient or to the end user/operator itself.
