How to join

1. Buy a phone subscription

Plan owners can join the subscription program through the Fi app or website on the “Shop” tab, in the account sign up flow, or at fi.google.com/about/phone- subscription.

Important: Group plan members aren’t eligible to join the subscription program. If you’re a group plan member who wants to join, reach out to your group plan owner.

When you join the subscription program, you can trade in a phone for Fi bill credit. Learn more about trade in.

Savings from the subscription program cannot be combined with other phone deals.

2. Pass credit check

To qualify for the subscription program, you need to pass a credit check. Learn more about the credit check process.

3. Activate the phone

Within 30 days of shipment, activate the phone on the same Google Fi account used to purchase the phone. This can be done by the purchaser or a member of their group plan.

If the phone isn’t activated within 30 days of shipment, we charge the purchaser for the full value of the phone.

4. Maintain active line for each subscription

Maintain an active talk and text line for each phone subscription. If your plan falls below the number of active lines required for your subscriptions, we’ll notify your plan owner. If you don’t correct this issue within the next billing cycle, we’ll increase the monthly phone charge to the standard financing rate.

Cancel or pause your Fi service

Cancel Fi service

If Fi service is cancelled, the cancellation impacts subscription eligibility.

Plan owner cancels service

If a plan owner cancels Fi service, we charge the remaining amount owed for all active subscription phones on their account at the regular price.

Group plan member cancels service

If a group plan member cancels service, the number of active lines on the account may fall below the number of subscriptions. If this happens, we notify the group plan owner. If not corrected, the monthly phone charge increases to the standard financing rate.

Pause Fi service

You can temporarily pause your Fi service. While your service is temporarily on hold, you still get charged monthly phone subscription program payments. If you repeatedly pause Fi, you violate our Terms of Service.

Upgrade your phone

How upgrade works

After 24 monthly payments, you fully own your phone. At that time, you decide if you want to stay in the program and receive the next device in the subscription program as an upgrade. If you don’t upgrade, your monthly payment reduces to device protection only.

Closer to the time of upgrade, for more information on the upgrade phone and associated monthly cost, check the phone subscription program information or contact support.
