Bissell

  • Turn off and unplug machine

    • Empty dirt container

    • Check filters

      • Pre-motor filter may be cleaned with cold water and mild detergent
      • Let completely dry before inserting back in machine
    • Check motor duct for suction by plugging in machine and turning it on while holding hand near motor duct

      • Be sure pre-motor filter is correctly seating inside machine or filter door will not close
      • Door will not latch if filter is not inside
      • If you feel suction turn off and unplug machine
      • If no suction at motor duct, please visit an Authorized Service Center or Contact Us
    • Remove hose and check for clogs in suction opening and hose

      • If clogs are found in hose loosely massage hose near clog until it is able to be removed
    • Examine hose for cracks or holes

      • Replace hose if damaged
    • Dirt bin must be seated and locked into place correctly

    • Re-attach hose (make sure it is securely attached to suction opening)

      • Check variable suction control
      • If set to “min”, may just need to change to higher setting
    • Check hose settings

      • Slide closed completely for maximum suction
      • If open, suction will be reduced
    • Check hose

      • If hose is clogged, work the clog loose by massaging the clogged area and/or gently twisting hose where it’s clogged until clog works itself free
      • If there is suction at end of the hose with attachments off, but not with them on, attachment may be clogged
    • Check foot

      • Foot can be cleared by removing access plate
      • Note: there are 4 small screws to be removed & 2 springs on inside of foot that may fall out when bottom plate is pulled off
    • Check extension wand

      • Clogs in wand may be removed by pushing a broomstick handle through wand
    • Check post-motor filter for clogs (located on back of machine behind cover)

      • Post-motor HEPA media filter is NOT washable and may need replacement
      • To clean, brush off or tap on side of trash bin
      • Insert filter with seal facing machine
      • If still no suction, please visit a BISSELL Authorized Service Center or Contact Us
