Before you begin
This document describes how to onboard the Poly ATA 400 series analog VoIP
adapter with Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway.

Audience, purpose, and required skills
This guide provides information for Poly ATA 400 series devices with Microsoft
Teams SIP Gateway. Administrators and users can use this guide to configure
Poly settings available on the phone’s local interface.

Getting started
Onboard your Poly ATA device to use Microsoft’s service that pairs SIP
endpoints with their Microsoft Teams accounts. This enables Teams users to
make and receive Teams calls on their SIP endpoint.
Before you start, ensure that your network and devices meet the following
requirements:

Poly ATA 400 series analog VoIP adapter with software version 4.0.1 (Build: 6480) or later

Deploying Poly ATA 400 series devices
Deploy Poly ATA 400 series devices with Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway using the
Microsoft Teams admin center and the phone’s system web interface.
Enroll Poly ATA devices in the Microsoft Teams admin center
Enroll Poly ATA devices in the Microsoft Teams admin center to register them.
IMPORTANT: Complete the procedure for each FXS port that you want to pair.

Log on to the Microsoft Teams admin center using the tenant administrator’s credentials.

Go to Teams devices > SIP devices > … > Actions > Provision devices.

Under Waiting on activation, select Add.

On the Add MAC addresses or hardware IDs window, go to ID type > Hardware ID (analog) and enter the hardware ID in the Enter hardware ID field.
The hardware ID is composed of the MAC address of the Poly ATA device and the FXS port number that you are pairing. For example, 00-90-8F-49-28-78:001 represents a MAC address of 00-90-8F-49-28-78 and a port number of 001. -
Select Save.
Factory reset your Poly ATA device
Before deploying your existing Poly ATA device with Microsoft Teams SIP
Gateway, reset the device to factory defaults. If you are deploying a new Poly
ATA device, you don’t need to factory reset the device.
- In the system web interface, go to System Management > Device Update > Reset Configuration.
- Select Reset.
The device restarts.
Update the Poly ATA software
Update the Poly ATA software to a version that is certified for use with
Microsoft
Teams SIP Gateway. The Poly ATA 400 series with software version 4.0.1 (Build:
6480) supports Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway.

Download the Poly ATA 400 series software from HP Support.

In the system web interface, go to System Management > Device Update.

Select Choose File to choose the downloaded file, then select Update.
The device restarts. -
After the device restarts, go to Status > System Status and confirm that the correct software version is listed in the SoftwareVersion field.
Enable web admin access
By default, web access to your Poly ATA 400 series device is enabled. If web
access is disabled from other configuration sources, configure the following
settings to enable web access.
- On the phone connected to the Poly ATA, dial ***.
- Press 0 to enter other options.
- Enter 30#.
- Press 1 to enter a new value.
- Enter 1# to enable web access.
- Press 1 to save the configuration.
Configure the provisioning server URL
Configure the provisioning server URL in the system web interface.

In the system web interface, go to System Management > Auto Provisioning.

In the Default column under ITSP Provisioning, clear the check box for ProvisioningOption, and select ConfigURL in the Value field.

In the Default column under ITSP Provisioning, clear the check box for ConfigURL, and enter one of the following regional provisioning servers in the Value field.
For North America, enter:
http://noam.ipp.sdg.teams.microsoft.com/${mac}.cfg
For Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, enter:
http://emea.ipp.sdg.teams.microsoft.com/${mac}.cfg
For Asia Pacific, enter:
http://apac.ipp.sdg.teams.microsoft.com/${mac}.cfg -
Select Submit, and then select Reboot.
The device restarts several times as it prepares configurations for registering with Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway.
Confirm SIP registration
Confirm that the device is SIP-registered with the onboarding account.
- In the system web interface, go to Status > System Status > SPn Service Status.
- Ensure that Registered displays in the Value column for the Status parameter.
Provisioning Poly ATA 400 series devices
Provision Poly ATA devices for Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway in the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Pair Poly ATA to a user in the Microsoft Teams admin center
Pair an FXS port on your Poly ATA device to a Microsoft Teams user in the
Microsoft Teams admin center.
IMPORTANT: Complete the procedure for each FXS port that you want to
pair.
- Log on to the Microsoft Teams admin center using the tenant administrator’s credentials.
- Select Teams devices > SIP devices > … > Actions > Provision devices.
- Under Waiting on activation, select the device that you want to pair, then select Generate verification code. Make a note of the number.
- Connect the phone to the FXS port on the Poly ATA device.
- Lift the handset and dial the following: 55
. - Listen for the confirmation tone, then end the call.
The Poly ATA device pairs to your tenant.
Sign in to Poly ATA in the Microsoft Teams admin center
Sign in to your Poly ATA device using the Microsoft Teams admin center.

Log on to the Microsoft Teams admin center using the tenant administrator’s credentials.

Select Teams devices > SIP devices > … > Actions > Provision devices.

Select the Waiting for sign in tab, select the MAC address of the Poly ATA device you want to sign in, then select Sign in a user.
The Microsoft Teams admin center generates a web sign-in code for the device with detailed steps about how to sign in. The code can take up to 1 minute to generate. -
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the sign-in process, using the account that you want to assign to the FXS port on the Poly ATA device.
The device restarts.
Confirm the Poly ATA device status in the Microsoft Teams admin center
Confirm the status of the Poly ATA device in the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Successful sign-in shows Healthy in the Health status column, and the signed-
in user’s information displays in the SIP devices view.
- Log on to the Microsoft Teams admin center using the tenant administrator’s credentials.
- Go to Teams devices > SIP devices and confirm that the Poly ATA device displays in the list of devices.
- Select the endpoint display name, then select the Details tab to confirm that the MAC address matches the hardware ID for the Poly ATA device.
Sign out of Poly ATA in the Microsoft Teams admin center
Sign out of your Poly ATA device in the Microsoft Teams admin center to unpair
the device.
- Log on to the Microsoft Teams admin center using the tenant administrator’s credentials.
- Go to Teams devices > SIP devices.
- Select the Poly ATA device that you want to sign out from the list of devices.
- Select … > Actions > Sign out.
The device restarts.
Troubleshooting
The following sections address issues you might encounter when deploying your Poly ATA device with Microsoft Teams SIP Gateway.
Important notices
Note the following when troubleshooting onboarding and provisioning issues.
- Microsoft Teams admin center doesn’t automatically delete endpoints. However, it does purge stale endpoints over time.
Enable SIP debug logs
Enable your Poly ATA device to log all SIP debug messages to extend SIP
logging to syslog, if enabled.
- In the system web interface, go to Voice Services > SPx Service.
- Under Debug Options, set X_SipDebugOption to Log All Messages or Log All Except REGISTER Messages.
- Select Submit.
Configure the syslog server
Configure your Poly ATA device to point to a syslog server with a specific
port and debug levels.
- In the system web interface, go to System Management > Device Admin
- In the Default column, clear the check box for Server, and enter the server address in the Value field.
- Optional: In the Default column, clear the check box for the relevant Level
parameter and change the value as required. - Select Submit.
