Installation
CAUTION! The freezer is heavy – transport it with care! To avoid back or other injury, we recommend you ask someone for help or use a mechanical aid when moving it.
Getting it ready for use
Before you start installing the freezer, wipe the interior surfaces and
accessories with a well wrung out cloth moistened with lukewarm water with a
little baking soda added.
This will remove any dust from transit and storage and help remove the typical
smell of a brand new product. Dry thoroughly.
Need the doors reversed?
Your new upright freezer has the capability of the door opening from the right
or left side. If your set-up requires reversal of the door swing, please
follow the instructions on pages 16-17 of the supplied manual.
Where to install
The freezer is designed for freestanding use. The floor must be strong, sturdy
and level — adjust the levelling feet, if necessary. Avoid areas where the
freezer would be exposed to direct sunlight, heat, extreme cold ambient
temperatures or excessive moisture and high humidity. Installing it in the
coolest area of the room will save energy consumption and running costs. Allow
at least 12cm clear space at the back and 5cm at the sides so air can
circulate freely around the freezer.
For comprehensive installation instructions, please consult the manual.
Connection
Settling
Before plugging in your new freezer, let it stand upright for at least 4 hours
to allow the refrigerant gases to settle into the compressor.
Power connection
Plug in the freezer and secure the power supply cord behind the unit, making
sure the plug is accessible after installation.
Cool down
When first starting up, and after a period out of use, allow the unit to cool
down on the coldest setting (MAX) for at least 2 hours before placing food in
the freezer.
Temperature control
Location
The control for regulating the temperature in the freezer is located at the
top of the freezer frame. The MIN mark indicates the warmest setting, MED is
the medium setting suitable for normal use, and MAX is the coldest setting.
First use
The first time you turn the freezer on, set the control to the MAX position.
Then, after about 24 hours, adjust it to the setting that best suits your
needs – a middle setting should be appropriate in most cases.
Switching off
To turn the freezer off, turn the temperature control to MIN, which will stop
cooling.
Then unplug the unit from the power supply.
The freezer interior
The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing domestic quantities of fresh food and long-term storage (up to three months) of frozen food.
For convenient access and organised storage, the freezer compartment is equipped with six transparent, easy to pull out drawers.
When freezing food, do not push food together too much, leave some space for air to circulate around each item. Do not place packages directly against the back wall.
When freezing large amounts of fresh food, keep in mind that it will take approximately 24 hours to freeze to solid frozen state. For best results, do not add other fresh food to the freezer drawer during this time.
Do not store food uncovered in the freezer.
Always use good quality, freezer-proof packaging to maintain food quality.
Remove air from packages of solid food and seal bags tightly before freezing.
