- This appliance is intended for household use only. Only use this appliance indoors.
- The danger of electroshock! Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or power plug in water or in other liquids.
- Do not place the appliance in the direct vicinity of liquids – e.g. bathtubs and sinks, in a damp basement, or close to a swimming pool.

- This appliance should be only operated with the type of power source indicated on the marking label. The marketing label is located at the bottom enclosure of the appliance.
- Always turn the power off before plugging the appliance into the power outlet or unplugging it.
- Prevent damage to the power cord by not squeezing, bending or rubbing it on sharp edges.
- Keep the cord away from hot surfaces and open flames.
- Always pull the plug, not the power cord when disconnecting the appliance from a power outlet.
- Plug the appliance into an easily accessible socket, so that you can disconnect it quickly from the mains, in the event of an emergency. Unplug the appliance from the power socket to switch it off completely. Use the mains plug as a disconnecting appliance. If the appliance malfunctions due to electrostatic discharge or short-term overvoltage, disconnect it from the power supply and connect it once again. Unplug the appliance during lightning storms or when unused for a long period of time.

LOCATION
Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat and damp and where it is
unlikely to fall or be knocked over.
POWER SUPPLY
Fitting batteries
1. Press the catch on the battery cover (arrowed) and lift off the lid.
2. Fit 4 x AA batteries into the battery compartment, observing polarity as
shown.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Remove the
batteries if the unit will not be used for a long time to avoid the danger of
leakage.
NOTE: Never mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types.
Batteries should always be replaced as sets.
Battery disposal
Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling regulations in your
area.
Do NOT short circuit batteries or throw them into water, the general rubbish
or in a fire.
Weak batteries can leak and damage the unit. Replace them in good time!
Connecting USB power
- Connect the smaller plug on the Micro-USB cable to the DC 5V IN jack on the back panel.
- Connect the USB plug to a free USB port on a computer or a 5V USB AC adapter (not supplied).
SETTING THE CLOCK
NOTE: The clock is set when set to Standby.

Press and hold the TIME button.
‘24H’ will flash. -
Turn the TUNING control to change between 24 hour and 12 hour modes
-
When the mode you want is displayed, press the TIME button.
The current time will be displayed, the hour will flash. -
Turn the TUNING control to set the hour.

When the hour is set correctly, press the TIME button.
The minutes digits will flash. -
Turn the TUNING control to set the time minutes.

When the minutes are set correctly, press the TIME button.
The time setting will be saved.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
FM and AM aerials
When listening to FM radio it is always important to extend the telescopic
aerial. The aerial has a swivel base and can be moved to the position that
gives best reception.
The AM aerial is built inside the radio case. There is no need to extend the
telescopic aerial when listening to AM radio, though signal may improve
slightly if the radio is turned on its base.
Switching the radio on or off

Press the /MODE button to switch the radio on.
The display will light and the radio will switch on, tuned to the last station you played. -
Press and hold the /MODE button to switch the radio off.
Setting the volume -
Turn the VOLUME control clockwise to increase the volume or anti-clockwise to decrease the volume.
Tuning to a different station -
Turn the TUNING control clockwise to tune up the band or anti-clockwise to tune down the band.
The display will show the tuned frequency in MHz (FM) or kHz (AM).
Changing between FM and AM bands -
Press the MODE button briefly.
The radio will change between FM and AM bands.
PRESET STATIONS
Your radio can store up to 30 of your favourite stations as presets.
Storing presets automatically
You radio will scan the band and automatically store all stations found as
presets.

Press the SCAN button.
The radio will now scan the band and store any stations found as presets. This process may take a minute or so.
Storing presets manually -
Tune to the station you want to store as a preset.

Press and hold the PRESET button.
‘P’ will be displayed with a flashing preset number to store. -
To choose a preset location to store your station, turn the TUNING control to change the preset number displayed.

To store the station playing in the preset number displayed, press the PRESET button.
The preset number will stop flashing to indicate that the preset has been stored.
To recall a preset -
Press the PRESET button.
The last used preset number will be displayed. -
Turn the TUNING control to browse the preset stations you have stored.

The radio will tune to the selected preset station.
When you stop browsing the station will be selected.
SLEEP FUNCTION
You can set the Sleep timer to play music for a set period while you are
falling asleep.
To set the sleep timer
-
Play your choice of music.
-
Press the SLEEP button.
The sleep time of 90 minutes will be displayed. -
Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to set the sleep time option you want of 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 minutes or OFF (sleep off).
Music will continue to play for the time you selected, then the unit will set to Standby.
Checking the sleep time remaining -
Press the SLEEP button.
The sleep time remaining will be displayed.
HEADPHONES
There is a headphone output socket on the back panel of the radio. If headphones are connected to this socket for private listening, the speakers will cut out automatically.
AFTER USE
- Set the radio to Standby or switch it off.
- Remove the batteries or unplug the USB power cable if you are leaving it unattended for a long period (holidays etc).
CARE AND CLEANING
All care and cleaning operations should be carried out with the unit unplugged
from USB power.
Occasionally wipe the cabinet with a lint-free duster. Never clean the unit
with liquids or solvents.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. For New Zealand customers, this warranty is in addition to statutory rights observed under New Zealand legislation.
