IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

- A fire may occur if the toaster is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when the toaster is plugged in.
- Do not operate unattended.
- When heating toaster pastries, always use the lightest toast color setting.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- To disconnect, press the cancel button, then remove the plug from a wall outlet.
- Warning: To prevent electrical shock, unplug before cleaning
- Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, operate with crumb tray closed.

This product is for household use only.
POLARIZED PLUG (120V MODELS ONLY)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a
polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the
plugin anyway.
ELECTRICAL CORD

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.

If an extension cord is used:
a) The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
b) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type -
-wire cord; and
c) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Note: If the power cord is damaged, please contact the warranty department listed in these instructions.
HOW TO USE
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
- Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the elastic band around the power plug.
- Please visit www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker to register your warranty.
- Place toaster on a flat, level surface, where the top of the unit has enough space for the heat to below without damaging the cabinets or walls.
- Remove tie from the cord and unwind.
- Plug the unit into an electrical outlet.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TOASTER
- For first-time use, select setting 4 (medium). Re-adjust the setting to suit your personal preference on successive toasting operations.
- If the wrong button is selected, press the CANCEL button, press the lever down, and reselect the desired setting.
CONTROL LEVER WITH BUILT-IN EXTRA LIFT
This toaster has a built-in toast control lever with an extra lift. If toasted
food does not clear the top of the toaster use the toast control lever to
raise the food for easy removal.
TOASTING CYCLE
-
Adjust the toast shade selector to the desired setting (1 through 7).
-
insert slices of bread, bagels, or other foods to be toasted in the appropriate slot and press the toast control lever until it locks into the down position. The self-adjusting guides automatically center food being toasted.
Note: During the BAGEL function both sides will toast to the shade selected. -
When selecting the BAGEL or FROZEN function, you must press the toast control lever before selecting one of these settings.

When toasting is complete, the toast control lever releases and the appliance shuts of5. Unplug the toaster when not in use.

Unplug the toaster when not in use.
NOTE: The Bagel function warms the outside of the bagel while toasting the cut side. Always place bagels cut side facing the interior of the toaster.
REMOVING EXCESS CRUMBS
- To remove excess crumbs, let the unit cool, unplug the unit, open the crumb door – shake excess into an appropriate trash receptacle. Close and latch crumb door before using.
CARE AND CLEANING
This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified
service personnel.
CLEANING
Always unplug the cord from the electrical outlet and allow the toaster to
cool before cleaning. Do not immerse the toaster in the water.
CLEANING OUTSIDE SURFACES
Important: The unit gets hot. Allow the toaster to cool completely before
cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth or sponge and dry with a paper towel.
- Do not use strong cleaners or abrasives that may scratch surfaces and never spray cleaners directly onto the toaster.
