Starting up your radio

Charging your radio
The Grantchester features a 3.7V, 1000mAh rechargeable Lithium battery. When fully charged, the radio can provide over 10 hours playtime with the external speaker, and over 21 hours with the earphones.
To charge the battery within your radio, plug the supplied USB to micro USB cable into the radio charging port
(Ref.10). Plug the USB port of the cable into a computer or power adapter that accepts USB connectors.
For the first time of using your radio, we would recommend a full charge. This can take up to 2.5 hours.
Whilst charging, the charging icon on the display screen will flash on the display screen. When the radio is fully charged, the icon will stop flashing.

Earphones
You can listen to the radio via the earphones provided or the external aerial (Ref.1). The earphones contain the aerial for your radio, so you do not need to extend the aerial as it cancels out as the receiver.
To ensure that the earphones are comfortable and going to provide the best quality sound, you can change the earbud size. Simply remove the plastic bud away from the earphone piece and slide the chosen earbud size on.

Basic Operation

Ensure that the radio has been charged and view the battery life on the display when you turn it on. If the battery icon shows all of the bars illuminated then the system is fully charged.
To allow for signal to be received by the radio, you will either need to use the earphones provided or extend the antenna of the radio.

If you are wanting to play your music out via the internal speaker, simply pull out the antenna (Ref.1) and extend it fully to receive signal. To listen to the radio through the earphones, please ensure they are connected via the earphone port at the top of the radio in order to act as the antenna.

Turn the radio on by pressing and holding the ‘Power/Mode’ button (Ref.6) at the front of the radio. The display will show a Majority logo as it starts up.
Once the radio has loaded, it will begin scanning for available DAB/DAB+ stations. The radio will display “Searching…” as this is actioning.
When the scan is finished, the first available station will begin to play.

DAB/DAB+ Mode

Once the radio is switched on, it will automatically begin searching for available DAB/DAB+ stations. This will display on the screen with “Searching….”. When the scan is finished, the first available station will begin to play.
To begin scrolling through the available DAB/DAB+ stations, use the scrolling wheel (Ref.8) to scroll up and down the available stations. As you are scrolling, stop on the station you would like to play and it will sound automatically. If it does not sound automatically, the signal being received for the station may be poor.
