SureFit+™ Blood Pressure Cuff
For Microlife automatic upper arm blood pressure monitors.*
Thank you for purchasing an accessory cuff. This cuff is suitable for arm
circumferences of 8.7” to 18.1” to fit most adults, and is easy to adapt to
most units.
Identify your cuff tube connector
Determine if your cuff tube connector, found on the end of the tube connected to the cuff, is all black or yellow-tipped.
Cuff tube connector – black (standard)
Simply replace your existing Microlife cuff with the SureFit+ cuff. Once the
cuff is properly connected to the monitor, prepare the cuff for your
measurement.
Cuff tube connector – yellow or blue
****Standard connector
If the cuff port on your monitor is yellow or blue, please follow these steps to replace the connector:
- Remove the black connector from your SureFit+™ Cuff tube.
- Remove the yellow or blue connector from your existing Microlife cuff tube.
- Insert the yellow or blue connector into the tube on your SureFit+™ cuff.
- Connect the cuff to the monitor by placing the yellow or blue connector into the color coordinating port on the left side of your monitor, following your monitor’s instructions. Yellow connectors to yellow ports, blue connectors to blue ports.
Do not otherwise combine the colored pieces as they are not interchangeable.
Using the wrong cuff connector may cause inaccurate readings.
Yellow connector, yellow cuff port
Please contact customer service if your connector is a different color than listed as additional steps are needed to ensure an accurate reading.
Fitting the cuff
a) The cuff is pre-formed for easier use. Remove tight or bulky clothing from your upper arm.
b) Position the cuff on the arm as illustrated, so that the tube is closer to
your lower arm. Make certain that the lower edge of the cuff, with the red
edge, lies approximately 1/2” (1 to 2 cm) above the elbow and that the tube is
closer to the inner side of the arm.
IMPORTANT: The red stripe on the edge of the cuff (Artery Mark) must lie
over the artery which runs down the inner side of the arm.
TIP: Align red artery mark to the pinky finger.
c) To secure the cuff, wrap it around your arm and press the hook and loop
material together. Make sure that the size indicator arrow falls on the green
“OK” range when the cuff is in position. If it doesn’t, you are using the
wrong cuff size.
d) There should be little free space between the arm and the cuff. You should
be able to fit 2 fingers between your arm and the cuff. Clothing must not
restrict the arm.
Any piece of clothing which does must be removed. Cuffs that don’t fit
properly result in false measurement values. Measure your arm circumference if
you are not sure of proper fit.
e) Lay your arm on a table so the cuff is at the same height as your heart.
Make sure the tube is not kinked.
f) Remain seated quietly for two minutes before you begin
the measurement.
Comment
If it is not possible to fit the cuff to your left arm, it can also be
placed on your right arm. However, all measurements should be made using the
same arm.
Comparable blood pressure measurements always require the same conditions
(relax for two minutes before a reading). Remain still during your
measurement, do not flex muscles.
Caution
Be sure to consult the instruction booklet included with your monitor for
correct use of this cuff with your blood pressure monitor. For use only with
Microlife automatic blood pressure monitors. Not compatible with semi-
automatic monitors, or any other company’s blood pressure monitors.
- Proper blood pressure cuff size and placement are essential to the accuracy of the blood pressure reading. See the arm cuff chart on the outer packaging for sizing information.
- Wrapping the cuff too loosely (preventing proper inflation) may result in inaccurate blood pressure readings.
Care and maintenance
a) The cuff contains a sensitive airtight bubble. Handle this cuff carefully
and avoid all types of stress through twisting or buckling.
b) Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or
similar solvents. Spots on the cuff can be removed carefully with a damp cloth
and soapsuds. The cuff must not be washed in a dishwasher, clothes washer, or
submerged in water.
c) Handle the tube carefully. Do not pull on it. Do not allow the tubing to
kink and keep it away from sharp edges.
d) Do not use the device if you think it is damaged or if anything appears
unusual.
