How to Take a Temperature:
Press the power button to turn the unit on. The display should read “188.8” to confirm normal function. An “Err” message indicates the unit is not working properly. The last recorded measurement will show for 2 seconds, followed by “- – -” and a flashing “F” or “C”, indicating that thermometer is ready for use.
Oral Use:
- Do not drink hot or cold liquids or exercise before use.
- Place sensor tip under tongue as shown in Figure A.
- The accurate temperature reading will take approximately 30 seconds. An open mouth or improper placement could make reading take longer.
Underarm Use:
- Wipe underarm with a dry towel.
- Place sensor tip in the armpit and lower arm against the body as shown in Figure B.
- The accurate temperature reading will take approximately 5 minutes with proper use.
Reading the Temperature:
For readings 99.5˚ F (37.5˚ C) and below, the thermometer beeps 10 times to
indicate the temperature is within normal range. For readings above 99.5˚ F
(37.5˚ C), the thermometer emits a series of short, rapid beats to indicate a
possible high temperature.
Changing from °F to °C:
With the thermometer turned off, press and hold the power button for 5
seconds. An “°F” or “°C” will appear on the display, blinking. Press the
ON/OFF button to toggle to the opposite temperature setting. After 4 seconds
your thermometer will be ready for use.
How to Clean:
Clean thermometer after every use. There are 2 cleaning options below:
- Alcohol: Clean sensor tip with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe dry with a sterile cotton ball.
- Dishwasher Safe: To clean in dishwasher, place thermometer on top rack only.
Run the dishwasher on the normal cleaning cycle. A high heat drying cycle is NOT recommended.
How to Change Battery:
Replace the battery when “ ” appears on display. Replace the old battery with
a new battery (1.5V, LR41, or equivalent). Plus (+) sign should face upward.
