Important Information

Note! Read this information before using your device.

Taking care of and using your device

Danger

  • Do not use, store or leave the device in an area with high temperature or susceptible to heat accumulation (e.g. near a fire or heating appliances, under blanket direct sunlight, or a car in the hot sun). It may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury, or electric shock.
  • Do not place the device inside or near microwave ovens, cooking appliances such as IH cooking heaters, or high-pressure containers such as pressure cookers.It may cause a  fire, burn, bodily injury, or electric shock.
  • Do not splash sand, soil, or mud, or directly place the device on surfaces. Do not touch the device with sandy hands. It may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the device as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.
  • Do not allow liquids such as water (e.g. drinking water, sweat, seawater, urine of pet animals) to enter the ports as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.
  • Use Sony-branded AC adapters and cables as it reduces the risk of fire, burn, bodily injury, or electric shock.
  • Do not throw into a fire or apply heat as it may cause a fire, burn, or bodily injury.
  • Do not poke with a nail or other sharp objects, hit with a hammer or other hard objects, or trample on the device as it may cause a fire, burn or bodily injury.

Warning

  • Do not apply strong force, heavy shock or impact on the device by dropping, stepping on or throwing it as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Do not have conductive material (e.g. metal piece, lead of pencil) come into contact with the ports or allow dust to enter inside as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Be sure to turn off the power of this unit and stop charging in any area with potentially flammable gas or dust. Ignition of the flammable gas may cause an explosion or a fire.

  • Follow the instructions of facilities such as gas stations.
    Do not charge the device in a gas station. Be careful not to drop the device at a gas station and do not use the device especially while refueling. It may ignite the flammable  gas, resulting in explosion or a fire.

  • If abnormal odour or sound, smoke, heat generation, discolouring or deformation is found during use, charging or storing, remove the cable from this unit to reduce the risk of a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Do not touch broken glass or exposed inner parts of this unit if the display is broken. It may cause a burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Do not use damaged cables as they may cause a fire, burn or electric shock.

  • Do not apply strong force to the connection part of the cable and this unit as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Connect or disconnect the cable straight to the port.
    Do not apply strong force such as pulling the cord.
    Connection in an improper manner may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Do not use the device if the port is deformed. Do not attempt to fix the deformation as it may cause a fire, burn, bodily injury or electric shock due to short circuit of the  USB port.

Note

  • Do not use or store in a humid, dusty, or high-temperature area as it may cause a fire, burn or electric shock.

  • Parents should ensure that the children understand how to handle the device properly when they use it. Improper use may cause accidental ingestion, bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Keep away from infants to reduce the risk of bodily injury or electric shock.

  • Do not get parts of the broken display on your face, hands, or clothes as it may cause eye or skin injury.
    If the inner substance comes into contact with your eyes, mouth, skin, or clothes, immediately rinse the substance with clean water. Consult a doctor immediately after rinsing if the inner substance contacts your eyes or mouth.

  • Check if any metallic objects (e.g. cutter blade, stapler needle) is not adhered to the magnetic parts of this unit. Adhered objects may cause bodily injury.

  • Look at the display in a bright area from a proper distance as it reduces the risk of loss of vision.

  • This product (including accessories) has magnet(s) which may interfere with pacemakers, programmable shunt valves for hydrocephalus treatment, or other medical devices.  Do not place this product close to persons who use such medical devices. Consult your doctor before using this product if you use any such medical device.

  • Do not install the device at an unstable place.
    Installation on a wobbly table or inclined location may cause bodily injury if the device falls or is dropped. Ensure that the strength is sufficient for the installation.

  • Properly attach or detach this unit. Attachment or detachment in an improper manner may cause this unit or smartphone to drop, or cause bodily injury by getting your finger pinched. Follow the instructions in the “Startup Guide”.

  • Use suitable tripods for the weight of this unit and smartphone. Attaching to tripods or other devices that cannot withstand the weight may cause this unit to drop and result in bodily injury.

  • Do not lift or carry only the monitor when this unit is attached to a smartphone.

Notes on use

  • Do not splash water on the unit. This unit is not waterproof. Avoid using in a humid area such as in a bathroom or exposing it to raindrops.
    Note that malfunctions caused by water are out of warranty and repair may be refused. If the repair is available, it is acceptable for a fee because it is out of the warranty.

  • The operating temperature of the device is between
    +5°C(+41°F) and +35°C(+95°F).

This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product shall not be treated as household waste. Instead, it shall be handed over to the appropriate collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Limited warranty

Subject to the conditions of this limited warranty, Sony or its relevant local affiliates warrants this device against defects in design, material, and workmanship at the time of its original purchase by a consumer and for 1 year thereafter. Contact an authorized Sony service partner to get further information.

What we will do

If, during the warranty period, this device fails to operate under normal use and service, due to defects in materials or workmanship, authorized Sony distributors or service partners will, at their discretion, either repair or replace the device in accordance with the conditions stipulated herein.

Conditions

  1. The warranty is valid only if the original receipt issued to the original purchaser by the authorized dealer,  specifying the date of purchase and serial number, is presented with the device to be repaired or replaced.
    • For customers in the United States Sony is not responsible for any labor or parts costs you incur relating to repairs or service from providers/services other than from an authorized Sony service partner.
    • For customers in other countries and regions Tampering with any of the seals on the device will void the warranty.

  2. If Sony repairs or replaces the device, the repaired or replaced device shall be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. Repair or replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent reconditioned units. Replaced parts or components will become the property of Sony.

  3. This warranty does not cover any damage, malfunctions, and/or failures of the device due to normal wear and tear, or due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary manner, in accordance with instructions for use and maintenance of the device. Nor does this warranty cover any damage,  malfunctions, and/or failures of the device due to accident, modification or adjustment, acts of God, or damage resulting from liquid outside of the approved levels.

  4. There are no express warranties, whether written or oral, other than this limited warranty. All implied warranties, including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this limited warranty. In no event shall Sony or its vendors be liable for incidental or consequential damages of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to lost profits or commercial loss, to the full extent those damages can be disclaimed by law.  Some countries/regions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitation of the duration of implied warranties, so the preceding limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
