Wireless Motorized Cylinder
USER MANUAL
GENERAL information and WARNINGS
- We recommend you to put the keys to an accessible place (like a car, bag, etc.) in an emergency condition.
- If there is any problem with the door or locking mechanism, first of all, those problems need to be solved. The door’s mechanical parts and locking mechanism should be working properly.
- Replace the batteries, if there is a battery warning. RECYCLE EMPTY BATTERIES!
- All the systems need to be protected from water, direct sunlight, and shocks.
- Place the batteries after installation of the system to the door. If the batteries are placed before the installation, auto-rotating parts may cause injuries. WATCH YOUR FINGERS!
- For some doors, even if you remove the cylinder screw, you cannot remove the cylinder due to the cramped installation of the defender. If this is the situation, follow the instructions below:
a- Untighten screws of cylinder defender (don’t remove the screws)
b- Remove the cylinder screw and take out the old cylinder.
c- Install the device after disassembling the motorized part from the cylinder. (see p. 4 and 5)

PARTS OF DEVICE and INSTALLATION
DEMOUNTING OF MOTOR AND CYLINDER
- Open “handle screw” and remove the handle by pulling.
- Remove the batteries.
- Rotate “hex screw” counter-clockwise by using the hex key out of the box. You will see the cylinder will be disassembled from the motorized part. To assemble two parts, combine cylinder and motorized part in a proper way and rotate hex screw to clockwise.
EXTENDING INSIDE PART OF THE CYLINDER (if needed)
If the door thickness is not suitable for the cylinder of the device, the
inside part of the cylinder may be extended up to 6 mm by 2 mm steps.
To extend the cylinder’s inside part, follow the instructions below:
- Open “handle screw” and remove the handle by pulling.
- Remove the batteries.
- Rotate “hex screw” to counter-clockwise by using the hex key out of the box till the motorized part is disassembled from the cylinder.
- Add 2 mm metal extending parts as needed.
- Assemble cylinder and motorized part and rotate hex screw to clockwise direction.
- Install the batteries and check the device if it is working properly or not.
INSTALLATION OF MOTORIZED CYLINDER
MOBILE APPLICATION
In this section, you can find details about the usage of Mobile Application
If there is no controller with your motorized cylinder and if you enroll your
smartphone as the first controller, it will be the master controller of your
motorized cylinder.
Before you use your motorized cylinder, you should adjust it properly
according to the lock which motorized cylinder will work together. First, you
should adjust the “direction of locking” and then “number of rotation” (see
pages 50 and 51)
If you want to change the master controller of the motorized cylinder, check
the “HOW TO RESET MOTORIZED CYLINDER” topic on the last page.
To use all available features of your device, we recommend you use a
smartphone as a master controller.
ENROLLING A MOBILE PHONE AS MASTER CONTROLLER
- Search “Desi Utopic” on stores. Download, install and run the application.
- Choose desired language and define a password.
- Press the “set/reset button” on the motorized cylinder till a long warning tone is heard. After that, a short warning tone will be heard, then you can release the button.
- Touch “+” on the top left corner to see the list of Utopic motorized cylinders around.
- Touch to the UTOPIC line and enter a name for your device and touch to a green tick.
- If the matching is successful, you will hear 2 short tones from the motorized cylinder and your device will be the master controller of the motorized cylinder.
APPLICATION SETTINGS
If you touch to menu button on the top right corner when it is not connected
to the motorized cylinder, you will reach to the settings menu of the
application. Related menu items are as follows:
PASSWORD: You can disable, enable or change the password of the
application.
LANGUAGES : You can change the language of the application.
APPLICATION SETTINGS: You can disable/enable the auto-connection feature
which connects to a known motorized cylinder around as soon as the application
is launched.
APPLICATION INFO: You can see the version of an installed application.
MOTORIZED CYLINDER SETTINGS / ADMINISTRATION MENU
If you touch to menu button on the top right corner when the application is connected to motorized cylinder as the master controller, you will reach to the settings menu of the connected motorized cylinder. You can change the settings of your motorized cylinder and perform administrative activities via this menu.
Before using your smart cylinder, “locking way” and “number of turns” settings
should be adjusted properly. Otherwise, it would damage the device’s
mechanical structure. Those two settings is written in RED. Please check the
next 2 pages.
The related menu has 4 tabs; Device Info, Knob Settings, Users, Reports
DEVICE INFO TAB
In this tab, you can see the following information:
Device Name
Device Type
Device’s Firmware Version
Battery Level
Number of Enrolled Controllers
Number of Operations (Locking or unlocking)
If you want to delete a connected device from your mobile application, touch
to “Delete Device” button in this menu.
KNOB SETTINGS TAB
In this tab, there are the following menu items:
BUZZER OF KNOB: You can enable/disable activation
sounds coming from the motorized cylinder.
NIGHT MODE AVAILABILITY: Night mode is a security option that temporarily
disables all controllers of the motorized cylinders. In this way, the door can
only be opened by a knob or a key. If this feature is enabled, when you rotate
your motorized cylinder through the locking way 2 times, the device will shift
to night mode till you rotate the know or key through the unlocking way. On
this menu item, you can enable/disable the capability to shift night mode. For
shifting to night mode, Semi-Automatic Mode should be enabled.
SEMI-AUTOMATIC MODE: Your device has a semi-automatic feature that senses
the knob/key rotation and continues to rotate automatically. On this menu
item, you can enable/disable this feature.
INVERT LOCKING WAY: You may need to change the direction of locking
according to the door’s way in which you will use your motorized cylinder. You
can invert the locking away of the device on this menu item.
ADJUST NUMBER OF TURNS: Before using your motorized cylinder, you may
need to adjust your motorized cylinder according to the lock’s number of
rotations, To do this, close the door and then touch the “Blue Rotating Arrow”
button.
The motorized cylinder will lock and then unlock the door and learn a number
of rotations.
AUTO DISCONNECTION TIME: You can adjust (with 5 sec. steps) the time
period that the application stays connected to the motorized cylinder after it
is connected.
LATCH RETRACTION PERIOD: According to the type of your lock and usage,
you would need to adjust the time period in which the motorized cylinder keeps
the latch of the lock inside when it unlocks the lock. You can use the slider
to adjust the latch retraction period in 4 different ways: From left to right;
short (around a half-second), 3 seconds, 6 seconds, and 9 seconds.
Latch Retraction Period adjustment is not available for Utopic 2.
USERS TAB
In this tab, you add, edit or delete (except master) controllers including
accessories like auto-locking module, home automation interface, keypad etc.
EDIT / DELETE ENROLLED CONTROLLERS: If you touch to Controllers title, you can
see enrolled controllers of the motorized cylinder. If you touch any users,
you can reach the dedicated page to edit the name or delete the controller.
Edit / Delete Enrolled Controller is not available for Utopic 2.
ENROLL NEW REMOTE CONTROLLER: Your motorized cylinder may learn up to 40
different controllers. To shift your motorized cylinder to enrolling new
controller mode, touch to “Green Plus” button. In this way, the motorized
cylinder will shift to enrolling new controller mode with a long warning tone.
After that tone, you need to send a locking or unlocking signal via the new
controller that you want to enroll in the motorized cylinder in the following
ways:
– For the fingerprint reader, wake it up and touch to lock button.
– For the keypad, wake it up and touch to locking button.
– For the remote controller, press any button till you hear a warning tone
from the cylinder.
– For auto-locker, make the magnet closer to small triangle (look to sides of
device) and wait indicator is lit.
– For enrolling a new mobile phone, please check page 55.
If enrolling will be successful, you will hear two short warning tones from
the motorized cylinder.
DELETE ALL REMOTE CONTROLLERS: If you want to delete all the controllers of the motorized cylinder, touch “Delete All Controllers”. The master controller cannot be deleted by using this menu item.
REPORT TAB
In this tab, you can see which user unlocked or locked the device. For mobile
devices, you can see date and time but for controllers like fingerprint
readers, remote controllers, keypads, etc. you cannot see date and time.
The reporting feature is not available for Utopic 2.
ENROLLING A NEW (USER) MOBILE PHONE VIA MASTER MOBILE PHONE
– With a NEW MOBILE PHONE, search “Desi Utopic” on stores. Download, install
and run the application.
– Choose the desired language and define a password.
– Connect to the motorized cylinder with MASTER MOBILE PHONE and touch the
menu button on the top right corner and go to Knob Settings Tab Touch to Green
Plus Button next to “ENROLL A NEW REMOTE CONTROLLER” line.
– With NEW MOBILE PHONE, touch “+” on the top left corner to see the list of
Utopic motorized cylinders around.
– Touch to the UTOPIC line and enter a name for your device and touch to a
green tick.
– Device recognition process will start. If the matching is successful, you
will hear 2 short tones from the motorized cylinder and your device will be
the master controller of a motorized cylinder.
NOTE: For Android phones, application will ask to reach location services. This is needed for using Bluetooth properly.
USAGE
UNLOCKING AND OPENING THE DOOR
If you touch to Unlock button on the application screen, the system
automatically unlocks and opens the door.
You can unlock/open the door by using the knob or the key as well. If semi-
automatic working is enabled, when you rotate the knob or the key to unlocking
way, it will sense the movement and continue automatically.
LOCKING THE DOOR
If you touch to “Lock Once” button, the system will automatically lock the
door one turn.
If you touch to “Fully Lock” button, the system will automatically lock all
the turns.
You can lock the door by using the knob or the key as well. If semi-automatic working is enabled, when you rotate the knob or the key to the locking way, it will sense the movement and lock the door one turn.
NIGHT MODE
Night mode is a security option that temporarily disables remote controllers.
In this way, the door can only be opened by a knob or a key. To shift the
motorized cylinder to night mode:
– Close the door and turn the knob through the locking way. The motorized
cylinder will lock the door one turn.
– Turn the knob again through the locking way. It will lock all the turns.
In this way, the motorized cylinder will shift to Night Mode. To exit from
night mode, turn the knob through the unlocking way. It will automatically
unlock the door and shift to normal working mode. You can shift to or exit
from night mode by using the key as well.
To use Night Mode, NIGHT MODE AVAILABILITY, and ADJUSTING SEMI-AUTOMATIC
WORKING settings need to be enabled. If any of them is disabled, the motorized
cylinder cannot shift to Night Mode.
MAINTENANCE
You can clean the surfaces with soft fabric. Do not use water or corrosive chemicals. Do not touch to electronic parts of the device with a conducting metal or sharp object.
REPLACING MOTORIZED CYLINDER’S BATTERIES
– The motorized cylinder uses 5x AA size 1,5 V Alkaline or Lithium batteries.
– Do not use old and new batteries or different types of batteries together.
– If you are changing batteries, change them all. Use high-quality batteries.
If you hear a triple warning tone after any operation (locking/unlocking), or if the motorized cylinder rotates too slowly, you need to replace the batteries. To change them, open the knob screw and remove the knob (pull outward), uninstall old batteries and install new batteries (watch polarities). Put knob back and tighten knob screw.
HOW TO RESET MOTORIZED CYLINDER
If you want to change the master controller of the motorized cylinder, you
need to reset the motorized cylinder. To do this, follow the steps below:
– Remove 1 battery of your motorized cylinder and press and hold the
“set/reset button”. Put the 5th battery. You will start to hear a long warning
tone from the motorized cylinder. Continue to hold the button till you hear
two short tones after long warning tones.
– In this way, the motorized cylinder will be reset and all the controllers,
including the master controller, enrolled in the device will be deleted.
