Initial operation
- Plug the probes into the transmitter
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the transmitter.
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the receiver.
- Insert two AAA batteries in the receiver. Make sure the polarity is correct. The unit will alert you with a beep and all LCD segments will be displayed for a short moment.
- The temperature display for probes 1 and 2 “- – -” is flashing.
- Now insert two AAA batteries in the transmitter. Make sure the polarity is correct. All LCD segments will be displayed briefly.
- The temperature for probe 1 or 2 will now appear on the transmitter display and in a few seconds will appear on the receiver display and alert you with a beep.
- Close the battery compartments of the receiver and the transmitter.
- You can also operate the device with only one probe, “- – -” appears in the display of the unused probe.
Search for the transmitter
The transmitter updates the receiver when the probe temperature changes by 1°F / 1°C For every 30 seconds with changes below 1°F/1°C.
- If the transmission fails for 1 minute the unit will beep every 4 seconds and “- – -” appears on the display of the receiver for probes 1 and 2.
- Press any key to terminate the alert sound.
- If the signal is lost (“- – -” flashes on the display of the receiver) for 8 minutes or more, move the receiver close to the transmitter and quickly press the ON/OFF 0 button of the receiver twice to re-enter pairing mode. The probe temperature should reappear on the receiver display within a few seconds.
Normal Operation
- Press and hold the ON/OFF 0 button of the transmitter for 3 seconds.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF 0 button of the receiver for 3 seconds.
- You can press the ON/OFF 0 button quickly to test the transmitter and receiver are synced up. The receiver will emit a BEEP when it receives the signal.
- The temperature reference can be switched between °C and °F, by pressing the °C/°F button.
- When the probes are not inserted, the temperature is displayed as “- – -“.
- After inserting the probes, the actual temperatures of the probes are displayed. When the temperature is above 572 °F/300 °C, “HHH” is displayed. When the temperature is below -58 °F/-50 °C, “LLL” is displayed.
IMPORTANT: To increase the life of the batteries, switch off the unit after each use, please.
Setting the alert temperatures
All of your settings are made with the SET button and the adjustment knob. Turning the knob counterclockwise lowers the temperature and clockwise raises it. This is what can be selected:
Probe 1 or Probe 2
Food or Barbecue Mode
High-Temperature Alert
Low-Temperature Alert for Barbecue only

setting
- The two stainless steel probes can be used to monitor: 1 for Food and 1 for Barbecue OR 2 for Food and 2 for Barbecue.
- Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds to start the set mode. Probe 1 starts flashing. Turn the knob to switch between probe 1 and probe 2. Press the SET button to select probe.
- “Food” or “Barbecue” will flash. Turn the knob to switch between Food or Barbecue. Press the SET button to select mode.
- The High-temperature alert will flash. Turn the knob to raise or lower the temperature. Press the SET button to select. If in Barbecue mode the Low-temperature alert will flash. Turn the knob to raise or lower the temperature. Press the SET button to select.
- In the SET mode if the knob is not turned or the SET button is not pressed for 15 seconds the unit exits the SET mode.
Inserting the probes
- Insert the probe into the center of the meat. It should not touch bones or cartilage and it should not protrude through the meat. The probe should remain in the meat throughout the cooking process.
- Clip the Barbecue probe to the grill rack away from the center of the grill rack.
- Run the cables to the outside. Be careful with sharp-edged frames and hinges.
Temperature alert
- At the factory, the unit is set with the alert temperature ON.
- Press 0 and isiE °C/°F buttons at the same time to turn off the alert function. The symbol 0 will disappear from the display. To turn on the temperature alert press 0 and te °C/°F buttons again at the same time.
FOOD mode
Pre-alert
- The unit will alert you as your food is almost done. When the internal food temperature is within 9°F / 5°C of your set temperature it will beep 3 times per second and the display will flash.
- Press any button to stop the beeping. Hi-alert
- The unit will alert you when your food is done. When the internal food temperature is at or above your set temperature it will beep 4 times per second and the display will flash.
- Press any button to stop the alert sound. The display will continue to flash.
BARBECUE mode
- When the barbecue temperature is at or above your set temperature it will beep 2 times per second and the display will flash.
- When the barbecue temperature is at or below your set temperature it will beep 1 time per second and the display will flash.
- Press any button to stop the alert sound. The display will continue to flash until the temperature is within the alert limits.
Caution
- Wear heat-resistant protective gloves when touching the probe during or after cooking.
- Do not use the unit in the microwave.
- Be careful when handling sharp probes.
- Keep these units and the batteries out of reach of children.
- Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, taken apart, or recharged. Risk of explosion!
- Low batteries should be changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by leaking. Never use a combination of old and new batteries together or batteries of different types.
- Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves and safety glasses when handling leaking batteries.
- Do not expose the receiver and transmitter to extreme temperatures, vibrations, or shocks. Only the probe and the cable are heat resistant up to 572 °F/300°C. Never hold the probe directly over a fire.
Cleaning
- The housing and probes can be wiped with a damp cloth.
- Do not immerse the probe and the cable in water. Water can penetrate and cause malfunction. Not suitable for dishwasher.
- The receiver is not splash-proof. Do not use it in the rain.
- The transmitter is splashproof, but not watertight. Do not immerse in water.
Battery replacement
- Change the batteries when the battery symbol appears on the display.
- Open the battery compartments on the back of both units and insert two AAA 1.5V batteries in each one. Make sure the polarities are correct. Close the battery compartments again.
