Handling and operation

Connecting to a smartphone
Before you can use the selfie stick, you have to first pair the remote trigger 8 with a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth®

Tip: This product supports iOS 8.0 or higher and Android 6.0 or higher. Since Android is an open-source system, each manufacturer assigns the keys in their camera app themselves. Therefore, the original camera app of some smartphones cannot be used to take pictures and there may be various malfunctions when pressing the button q. If this is the case, check the operating system settings to see whether there is an option to use the volume control (+) as an additional trigger button.

  • Press and hold the button 9 for approximately 3 seconds to turn on the remote trigger 8. The power LED 0 lights up red once and then flashes blue in 1 second intervals. The remote trigger 8 is now in pairing mode for approx. 1 minute. If you do not pair the devices within 1 minute, the remote trigger 8 automatically turns off.
  • Enable the Bluetooth® function on your smartphone and search for Bluetooth® devices. For a detailed description, refer to the operating instructions of your smartphone.
  • Select Swi-384818_2107 from the list of devices found on your smartphone to pair the two devices. When pairing is complete, the power LED 0 turns off.
  • To turn off the remote trigger 8, press and hold the button 9 for approx. 3 seconds. The power LED 0 flashes red briefly 3 times and then turns off completely.

Tip: The next time you turn it on, the remote trigger 8 automatically connects to the most recently connected smartphone. If your smartphone does not automatically reconnect to the remote trigger 8, you will have to connect the devices manually. For a detailed description, refer to the operating instructions of your smartphone. If you want to pair another smartphone with the remote trigger 8, press and hold the button e for approx. 2 seconds. The power LED briefly flashes blue twice and then flashes blue in one second intervals. The remote trigger 8 is now in pairing mode for about 1 minute and can be connected to another smartphone.

Attaching the smartphone to the selfie stick

  • Open the clamps on the smartphone holder 2.
  • Place the smartphone between the clamps on the smartphone holder 2 by pushing the top clamp apart against the spring force. Make sure your smartphone is securely in place.
  • Loosen the set screw 3 and adjust the vertical tilt angle of the smartphone. Fix the smartphone in the desired position by re-tightening the set screw 3.
  • If necessary, attach the remote trigger 8 to the first element of the telescopic rod 4 via the remote trigger holder r.

Taking selfies

  • Unlock the telescopic rod 4 by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Now, pull out the telescopic rod 4 to the desired length. Turn the individual elements of the telescopic rod 4 clockwise to lock them in place.
  • If you want to loosen the telescopic rod 4 again, turn the individual elements in the opposite direction (counterclockwise).
  • Turn your smartphone’s camera function on.
  • Press the button q on the remote trigger 8. Your smartphone will take a picture. The power LED 0 briefly flashes blue once.

Tip: If you do not press the button q for approx. 6 minutes, the remote trigger 8 automatically turns off.

Using the mini-tripod

  • Screw the mini-tripod 1 into the ¼ inch thread 7 on the bottom of the handle 5.
  • Always fold out the legs of the mini-tripod 1 completely for the best possible stability.

Troubleshooting

The remote trigger 8 does not turn on.

  • The inserted battery is dead. Replace the battery (see chapter on Inserting/replacing battery). Unable to connect via Bluetooth®.
  • The Bluetooth® function is disabled on the smartphone. Enable the Bluetooth® function on your smartphone. For more information, refer to the operating instructions of your phone.
  • The remote trigger 8 is too far away from the smartphone. Make sure that the remote trigger 8 is no farther than 32 feet from the smartphone.
  • Your smartphone may use an unsupported operating system. Check the operating system version on your smartphone (for supported operating systems, refer to the chapter on Technical specifications). No picture is taken when the button q is pressed.
  • Each manufacturer assigns the keys in their camera app themselves. As a result, a variety of malfunctions can occur when pressing the button q. For example, the camera may zoom in instead of taking a picture. If this is the case, check the operating system settings to see whether there is an option to use the volume control (+) as an additional trigger button. The power LED 0 flashes red in one second intervals.
  • The battery in the remote trigger 8 is dead and must be replaced (see chapter on Inserting/replacing battery).

Disposal
Disposal of the device

Electric devices may not be thrown away as part of normal household trash. If you can no longer use your electric device, dispose of it in accordance with the legal provisions applicable in your state. This will ensure that old electric devices are recycled and environmental pollution is kept to a minimum. Further information about disposal is available on the internet at www.epa.gov.

Disposal of batteries

Some batteries contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and nickel; therefore, many communities do not allow them to be thrown away with your regular trash. Recycling is always the best option for disposing of used batteries. Dry-cell batteries are used in a variety of electronics and include alkaline and carbon zinc (9-volt, D, C, AA, AAA), mercuric-oxide (button, some cylindrical and rectangular), silver-oxide and zinc-air (button), and lithium (9-volt, C, AA, coin, button, rechargeable) batteries. Look for in-store recycling bins or community collection events to dispose of these batteries.

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable. Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations. Note the marking on the different packaging materials and separate them accordingly. The packaging materials are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: Plastics, 20–22: Paper and cardboard, 80–98: Composites.
